I think the rumbling anime opening song in s4 sums up eren's character really well. Whoever write the lyrics, they understand AOT.
Eren is like an omnipotent being that knows everything but unable to change anything. He is paralyzed while watching a car crash happening in slow motion. But i don't think its all tragedy, if you look at the ending closely you'll notice that paradis manage to build multiple skyscraper, which took a really long time of peace to finish. And we can see mikasa die of old age before the war. So it is more likely that the war is a recent conflict that has nothing to do with revenge or the eldian stereotype. So in a way, eren succeed in saving his friends.

    • @scubed9227
      @scubed9227 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +12

it has to do with the 'eldian stereotype'... people don't forget history (literally now that the titan powers is no more) , and people won't learn from history, hence the same history will repeat itself. The wipe out allowed for a brief time of peace, yes, that was one of eren's intentions to have a conflict free era for his friends to live in... But it wasn't a rosy life for them, they were ambassadors n they had to endure flack from both sides...

Eren basically gained the awareness that he is a character in a manga that is fateded to die. Not only that but because it's hinted to be a time loop everytime we read it he wakes up to the same fate again and again. He doesn't want to necessarily comit genocide bit since it's literally written into the pages of destiny that he will, and since he experienced the oppression and pressure to do it he feels like a part of him might as well embrace it

Nice interpretation of Eren's character and arc.
The only thing I find inaccurate is people describing The Rumbling as unnecessary.
The situation between Paradis and the rest of the world mirrors real life Cold War. The US and the USSR were locked down in an indirect conflict because neither could trust the other with nuclear power (warheads, mainly). Similarly, the entire world had banded together (thanks to Marley) to basically destroy Paradis. Had Eren not started the Rumbling, him and everyone on the island would've died.
That's the ending where he "escaped his fate". His entire ethnicity dying or continue being slaved and used as instruments of war.

      @Ace_D  9 วันที่ผ่านมา +6

If you noticed in the video I mention a full-scale rumbling. Meaning the intent of whipping everything away. Personally I think if he just activated the titans and made the threat feel real and showed the enemies that he has power. Only that way will the peace talks have been able to happen. I agree that sometimes violence or mainly the threat of it is needed to achieve peace

And as I've argued profusely, Marley's perception of Eldia and paradise which led to a proclamation of war was SET IN STONE because of the results of the battle for shiganshina in season 3. This is also before the basement, before knowing about paths and the attack titan, before memory manipulation was known, before all of this. A reaction created another cataclysmic reaction that needed to be answered. But everyone seems to believe it was Eren, when in reality, Eren just went along with the performance of the war hungry hatred in Marley, and chose to fight back against it. Season 3 part 2 is arguably the MOST pivotal moment of Attack on Titan which led to its inevitable conclusion.

Willy would have continued his speech if Eren didn't attack them at Liberio. Armin and others didn’t knew about this because you can even see in s4 ep17 that yelena and olyankapon were themselves surprised that Marley attacked with so much force even though their highest ranked military officers were destroyed in liberio by eren and Marley achieved these much force and backing only because the world supported them as paradise was seen a serious threat

No he should've waved with a TRIGGERED flag outside Paradis gate when the Zeppelins came flying, did you forget Isayama wrote this story? Why didn't he write it so maybe he wouldnt take a dump on something some of us, probably not you, spent a decade watching, reading and re-watching tens of times. We didnt want Eren to GENOCIDE ALMOST THE ENTIRE WORLD SO LIKE 10 PEOPLE HALF OF WHOM HE DOESNT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT CAN PLAY PHILOSOPHERS, STOMPING CHILDREN, BABIES AND ELDERLY ON HIS WAY. HYPER CHAD? HYPER HLTLER MORE LIKE. F*CK YOU. Isayama wrote this . He wrote that Eren did all this, mass killing while on his behind crying about Mikasa being with another man and calling himself an idiot. You know what i, and majority wanted? For the story to make sense, ok bro you killing all these innocent people, well i hope your friends stop you in time... oh noo you almost killed everyone what now? Oh Mikasa is kissing your head and GTA flying over the ocean while Armin decided to wake up ffrom season 3 and scream a little he took a dump into his diaper, and right Eren killed him mom, what else. Right Nationalist, you mean how they made out Floch to be? Cause if he wasnt made to be a psychopathic POS id say he was the real Erwin successor, the guy who looked after the place we called home, Paradis. With those words you will never convince me you watched any AoT BEFORE SEASON 4 HYPE. Us who had know all the characters like they were our friends. So when they act out of character we're all like wait this is wrong. Thats why the divide was so even. It just became so Isayama wanted both sides to be happy and you can't do that, either go all way or no way. He said it himself, he didn't know what to do and surfed like 4chan or reddit or something for ideas. And i understand that, but don't go selling me that bs that i wanted my former favorite character to be a hyper-chad, i hate Chads. Also your first sentence, what shows are you talking about xD name me one, you perhaps talking about Lelouch from Code Geass? Nothing like Eren. Lelouch was a true martyr, who didn't genocide everyone, he made everyone hate him by other means, and made the enemies to join against him in a much mure realistic and emotional way. I didnt shed a tear for Eren, even tho i can rewatch him blocking the hole with the boulder, or when he first uses the coordinate and when hes riding thinking about Hannes. I cry like a baby. I watched Cowboy Bebop, Code Geass, Evangelion, Akira, Perfect Blue, Paranoia Agent (a must watch psy-thriller), Death Note and many other classics, and i dont need to see 30 analysis videos to understand why they are well written from start to finish

What an insanely thoughtful and introspective breakdown of his character. I want to give a special shoutout to the comment about how he is not a character to be admired or idolized.
People tend to confuse the idea of the protagonist being the character we follow with the character we should be rooting for. Over the past few years there's been an increasingly large amount of Eren did nothing wrong defenders coming out of the woodwork, even when the story is screaming the opposite.
In part that's why I feel people really dislike the conversation with Armin. It was the moment where they could no longer ignore the fact that they were rooting for a self-admitted genocidal maniac and that felt uncomfortable. (I also recognize people dislike the ending because of structure and writing, that's neither here nor there.)
What I will say I would've liked to see is a paths scene for Levi, similar to Mikasa and Armin, where he and Eren just get to lay it all out. I think Levi is the character that would be the perfect conclusion to the story's philosophy. Eren got off too easy with Armin and Mikasa, but Levi would've been the person to really lay into him. Levi's entire philosophy and life experiences would've broken down Eren's entire world view to the bone in such a perfect way. He's seen the worst a class divide can cause and has such a compassion and empathy for people. Where Armin placed part of the blame on himself, Levi would've admonished and condemned Eren in the harshest, realest way possible. But I also think, like Armin, he would've learned to make peace with what has been. He would still force Eren to take responsibility of his atrocities to the grave, but he'd at least be accepting, both of the good and the ugly, that this is the outcome they all fought to achieve.

There are parts of the ending I dislike, but NO ONE talks about them because whether someone liked the ending or not always revolves around the Eren discussion, and since I think Eren's part was absolutely fine, I don't want to be on the Eren's-character-got-messed-up side. And they all usually source a video they saw online about how the character was supposed to be, which I believe is due to a follow-up on how they felt on the ending being confirmed through it, but it's always a video about how Eren "didn't have a choice" or "he was always violent especially when he grew up not stupid" to "confirm" how the viewer felt about the shock of the contrast in his character at the end. I particulary don't like the fact that due to this, they all call the ending terrible, while I'm here thinking I'm being objective and fair by not saying it's the greatest due to other factors unrelated to it, it's almost exhausting to the point I don't want to, or even have to, defend the unrelated points. Nothing else gets brought up most of the time, which has solidified on me just going ending-defender side. The more I see ending hate the more I think my problems with it are superficial. The more I think ending-haters hate the ending for the wrong reasons. Not to say I don't understand how they get there, I can see it being clearer, but the longer I think about it the more I think it wouldn't have mattered because there's already a TON of hints that they just ignore anyway.
Also, about the Levi thing, I don't think he could've done that, because Eren could only hang around Mikasa, allegedly, because it was happening in real-time. He couldn't be with 2 ackermans at the same time unless they shared a room, I think. Unless he wanted Levi to retain that moment at a certain point before the final moments. My lore is rusty but I think that'd be the problem.

    • @maubpp
      @maubpp 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

@johndinner4418 I don't think the ending is perfect either. It's satisfying but there's a lot that's left up to interpretation that I would've preferred be addressed (Ymir).
And the reason I had that idea about Levi is because we've seen Eren can communicate with him via Paths as well. At the start of the the Rumbling and the plane ride to Eren. Whether he could erase his memories or not is up in the air but you could easily write that to be taking place at the final strike. Maybe that's what motivates Levi to go goblin mode for that final thunder spear

      @johndinner4418 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@maubpp Yeah, Ymir, Historia and Mikasa plot points could've been further developed or cleared out, imo.
Well since we attribute mikasa to be the one to have the meeting at the final strike, he would need to talk to levi either before mikasa or after, probably before, and that'd be kinda awkward for Levi to go "Eren talked to me, wtf" lol

@Ace_D One thing I will say for now is that sometimes you need people to help you out of it. When you can't on your own. I think you could also consider that's why Eren couldn't find a way out. People noticed the change but never really offered help they left him alone. That's another difference between Eren and Reiner. Reiner's people noticed there was an issue and helped him through it. Eren remained alone. This does happen sometimes. If mental problems are too severe, the person can't overcome it alone they need help. Severe mental states can make people generally believe they are trapped, and they get to a point of self-destruction as a result because they believe it's too late. When we see this kind of behavior we have to help them because they have reached the point where they can't ask for it. Which I believe Eren was at due to everything he was going through among other mind breaking stuff. I think the point of his final arc was to show this. Victim of war becoming the aggressor due to extreme circumstances but in a way still a victim because of severe mental trauma. This is why I feel Isayama concluded his character sympathetically because Eren was severely gone due to all his trauma and his inability and lack of help to overcome it. And he was a slave to the story so Isayama pretty much forced him to do it.

I definitely agree with most of what ur saying however I believe that it's still a bit of the person's responsibility to seek help even if it's something minor, honestly part of the msg that I tried to put into the video is that u aren't trapped just take the first step and everything work out for the better after doing that. It might be the ideal that people reach out but it's just not realistic everyone is pre-occupied with their own life, the person just needs to at least take the first step. That's speaking generally, however for Eren he actively pushed people away which is something a lot of people in the mental state do (speaking personally 😶😶😶) which makes people even less willing to approach to help.
But when I also do believe that if u notice someone going through shit it's very important to reach out

damn, bro you are underrated as hell, good video, and good analyse, the only thing that i would have mentionne is that eren is not special like you said but also not normal at all, and that his freedom come from his own nature, desire and his will, this is this nature that made him have the attack titan, where users have a great sense of freedom, eren made that path by himself and reach for the attack titan, i wouldn't say only that is his power is a curse and he is forced to follow that fate, but that eren would have follow that fate because of his own nature and desire, and that the aot world doesn't really have a different timeline where things can change, it's a timeline that was determine already and that cannot change, Eren would have destroyed the world even if he didn't have that power, but he made the needs to be able of doing so, in the school cast aot manga made by Hajime Isayama, we can understand a bit more of eren character and nature with this, so the in the school cast of aot we can see Eren a typical "normal" student that is very bored with his life, he even says that if "nothing happens, why don't he provoke it then ?" Eren wasn't really normal to begin with, but he wasn't neither special but his determination of freedom and free will were very strong and simply idealistic, like a sturbborn child, isayama was also inspired by a book that talk about the nature of a murderer, is it the murderer fault to be born like this ? and does being a murderer in his own nature ?
Anyway again great video and editing, i hope you are going to make more and especially on shingeki no kyojin, hope this video get more views cause this is brillant work there, it would be cool if you explain in a video about the Attack titan power and how does it work precisely, because there is many differents though on it, and also what does the mirror scene with Eren saying "tatakae" really mean, this could be a good video i think.

I'm excited to watch this video as the two popular narratives of him are "gigachad" or "he's a fascist which makes the story fascist."
Both are extremely inept analysis. There's so much material in this story that illustrates the nuance of his character and his development is closer to how most people would behave under his circumstances than they'd like to admit.
People want to imagime themselves as singular beacons of good decisions and holders of All The Right Ethics, but let's put anyone in the worst conditions imaginable as a child and let's see them not grow into a hateful monster who hurts as many people as possible.

@@anticlaws4105 I think it's well portrayed overall, it's just the ending that got muddy. You do have to watch the series a good amount of times to pick up on them because they're scattered around the whole series and subtle at first, and the series changes so much per season that you kinda forget what statements the character made could foreshadow events in the finale. Once you see it and accept it, though, it's REALLY hard to miss this. It's just not portrayed in an unrealistic fashion that screams it to your face about which side to lean on (it kinda does at the end, but people don't agree with the scouts and think the whole ending randomly shifted rather than recognize it was about to spoon feed you what it's been saying all along). The ending does have a "happy" turn that distracts from the main point, which is kind of the general viewer ending that isn't too deep into AoT lore (where people aren't titans anymore into the bittersweet ending that at least the squad got to live). It does a good job at at least making an ending that makes sense to the public who just casually watched and be satisfied that they got an ending (even if it was an odd one to the inbetween lore-and-casual viewers).

Eren's freedom absolutely did not depend on stripping others of theirs. He would have been happy if the world didn't want to kill him and everyone he knows. Eren was never shown to be unempathetic, unfair, or cruel before season 4. He never wanted to hurt anybody unless it was to protect himself or others.

    • @6ftTiny216
      @6ftTiny216 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

It absolutely did - the scene with him soaring in the clouds as a kid is him experiencing the childish desire for freedom, while actually using the 'clouds' visual to conceal the carnage he is causing from himself. Ath the very end we tells Armin he wanted to see the sea of blood (ironic, since Armin always pulled him towards the actual sea). That is all for his desire alone. Still, since Isayama did way too good of a job layering his character, the above does not stop him from being compasionate, or of having regrets about it. You know how sometimes you really want to eat a whole chocolate bar, and you do, and you feel satisfied, but them you also feel bad, because that was a whole damn chocolate bar? Now replace the cocolate bar with genocide - you have the gist of Eren'a feelings on the matter.
But that's just the 'freedom' aspect of him. There is also all this stemming from him actually being a normal dude with a shitty life and an unimaginable power. He says he tried it all, and we believe that as consumers of anime, which is a medium that traditionally likes to tell and not show.
But did he REALLY try? Or is this all he could muster? Did he really want to stay clean lean, or was this all just soothing self-talk while he knowingly opened the forbidden candy cupboard? There is alway the potential, but did he have the actual ability to notneat that chocolate bar?

@@6ftTiny216 its not that aots timeline is deterministic
EREN IS THE ONE who made it deterministic
      check ramzis conversation
people hail this as the greatest aot manga chapter but most people dont even understand it
Eren isn't stuck in a predetermined path because of some outside force. He explicitly states that everything that happened up to that point was something he personally wanted. However, that's precisely why it couldn't have ended any other way.
Eren has always been himself, and his strife for freedom was ultimately what bound him to act exactly as he saw in his memories of the future. Whenever he tried to change said future, like when he tried to walk away from Ramzi getting beaten up, he always ended up acting as his memories told him. This isn't because he succumbed to them, but because the future set before Eren is the only future Eren himself would've ever accepted.
AoT's timeline is predestined because people will always be slaves to what they want, and if their will doesn't bend to accommodate others, then the only solution left is for them to fight.
Also, Eren wanted the rumbling. Saving his friends and the island were definitely reasons for him to act upon his desires, but he explicitly states that those were just excuses to indulge in his desire to eradicate humanity outside the walls due to his disappointment.
When Eren tells Reiner they're the same, he means precisely that. Reiner admitted to Eren that saving the world wasn't the reason he kept going with the plan to breach the wall. What he actually wanted was to fulfill his childish desire to be respected by others and be considered a hero.
Eren knows that what he's doing is wrong, and tries to cover up his selfish desires behind more noble ones that he also cares about, which is why he could only enjoy the rumbling by regressing to his child self.
Also, just to be clear, Eren didn't plan on being stopped from the get go. When he realized he would've been stopped, he still decided that he would've tried the full scale rumbling anyway, as he explains to the others in paths. He wasn't lying when he told them that he was hell-bent on destroying the world, and the only way to stop him was to kill him.
He knew that their beliefs couldn't be reconciled, and that even if he got killed, he would've still managed to protect his friends and ensure peace for paradise for a lot of time. However, he admits that if nobody came to stop him he would've simply continued with the genocide. Not only that, but he's aware that his desire to complete said genocide is what brought about the deaths of Sasha and Hange in the first place.

@@AM17titan yes, I agree with you - thisnis what I meant. Though I made the above comment focusing more on Eren as a character, regardless of him having the Founder etc. That did complicate things in his head, yes, but ultimately he is the one who 'locked into' this timeline by virtue of being his own dumb, broken, but also driven and vicious self. That'a what I meant with the chocolate methaphor - he FULL ON wanted that sugar.
On the matter of his own conditions for his own freedom - he always associated his lack of freedom as being 'deprived by someone/something', so he thinks the only way to get his freedom is to crush whatever he thinks is hostile to him. Dude never knew a damn thing about real freedom (his blood ocean vs Armin's actual one) - he was just an oppressor waiting for his turn. Which ties into Isayama's commentary on conflict, I suppose.
I guess one could argue the deterministic angle by virtue of Eren having essentially ensured that he himself turns out preciselly the way he is, but we are also shown that he absolutely can see past his hate and pursuit of his false freedom - he just clearly chose not to.

    • @AM17titan
      @AM17titan 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ yes 100%
Armins meaning of freedom is what everyone should strive for and take it as a moral lesson
Basically the scene when he talks with zeke in the paths about the leaf and all
Eren’s is like absolute freedom WHICH ISNT ATTAINABLE
Basically if you want to attain it you have to kill every people and be the only one standing to not have burdens of society of two people or about any thing else
This is just his childish selfish desire btw and it only became more excessive when he realised that Marley was going to finish paradise off (not saying eren is right in this but you get the point)
Because if Marley was just an happy country he wouldn’t have gone with the rumbling and lived happily with his friends
And ALSO That’s why he is constantly watching armins eyes when he looks at the book when they were kids or when he sees the oceans ,volcanos in the final episode
      It said in s3 ep13
Eren says ‘ when I looked into your EYES you were seeing an amazing dream but I didn’t had one’

Eren “KILL ALL TITANS” Yeager? That Eren? Wtf, did we even watch the same show?
Young child Eren literally stabbed two grown ass men to death with a knife in a rage and afterwards had no emotional reaction whatsoever.
He regularly flies into a blind murderous rage, usually but not exclusively towards titans, to the point his squadmates think he’s crazy and suicidal and enemies try to exploit it as a weakness.
When he realizes there are humans outside the walls, across the ocean, his first thought is “if we kill them all will we be free?”
Kid was CRACKED right from the start.

Amazing analysis. Very great understanding of the show and Eren!
I would say one thing that would have been worth mentioning regarding Eren.
When he says he is a slave to freedom and an idiot, it make it seem to some people that it's a stupid plot because he was just a very stupid guy much more stupid than average. I think this interprétation weakens the point that anyone could be Eren. It's not as if there was another easy way-out solution. The other solution, which I agree with, is very difficult to accept : peace talks which will most likely lead to your death.
Armin's way of choosing peace at all cost IS the best because it's aware that it might end up in you losing but still trying. That's beautiful. That's also the message of the last song playing in the epilogue : even if war will inevitably come, choose peace anyway.
Anyway the other thing is that Eren said the reason he kept moving forward is to reach the end result, which is the end of the titan curse. so that's what would have been worth mentioning. It was not just about the abstract and childish Idea of freedom, but because he did "see" or "feel" that at one point, despite the horrors of the Rumbling, there would also be this liberation feeling. He felt the moment Ymir was set free. That's what he kept moving forward to. That's the light he thought he saw beyond that hell.
His old childish drive for freedom jus made it easier to push forward to that conclusion despite the sacrifices. But there indeed was something to reach.

From my pov Eren was stuck in a lose lose situation.
The outside world wanted the Island destroyed and when Willy announced a genocide they cried tears of joy at the prospect no one said 'no' that was the act that doomed the outside world hadn't they done it the Rumbling wouldn't have happened.
Also why are they starting said war in the first place, because Marley made so many enemies in their wars they decided to 'remind' the world who the real 'enemy' is by pointing their finger to the 'Island Devils'.
That is the sin of the outside world, they are unable to let go of their hate, worst yet they pass their hate on to their children, they teach that Eldians are meant to be killed that they are monsters that should not exist, that they need to pay for the sins of those that came before them.
Don't forget in Marley they can feed children to dogs (Eren's aunt), turn them into mindless titans, condition their children to serve Marley and view themselves as disposable, use them as weapons etc. And this is supposedly the place were they treat Eldians the best.
If Eren doesn't use the Rumbling Paradis is lost because of the gab in technological advancement, if does then the whole world is gone, because if the outside world is kept as is in any way shape or form the cycle of hatred will continue. That is the tragedy of AoT, that world is so deep in this cycle that a clean solution doesn't exist. They tried to be peaceful and diplomatic but being such things is meaningless if the other side wants war.

13:00 lowk this is why aot discourse will never come to any agreement (ironically like paradis v the outside world). you say eren had a childish narrow view of freedom that is basically wrong. why in chapter 90 does eren think of his aunt getting eaten by dogs when thinking of the "freedom" the outside world possess.
we gotta stop using flashy lights and colors to distract us from the cold hard fact of the story. eren wanted to be able to live his life the way HE wanted. he wasnt searching for mental freedom or had a short narrow view of freedom or anything. he simply did not want to be caged in with a guillotine over his head.
i also dont like the fact you keep saying "he became the adult version of that simple minded child". this just runs completely antithetical to the context of the story. he did the rumbling to ensure his friends safety, his island and people get to survive, to end the cycle of hated and children being forced to eat their parents. all of these things arent childish so idk why you keep boxing eren in to this word.

The world hated Paradis for their Titans that killed a lot of men, and so hatred continue to their descendants. And it's valid that Eren can't accept that when people hate him and his own people for simply existing and they are planning to eradicate them.

this may correct a few false narrative but it doesn't change the fact that the primary impetus and mystery of the show reduced down to "because the magic spaceworm made us do it" like ok sure its ironic because eren was trying not to be a slave... but that doesn't make it a good ending, it is still completely contrived. any story could suddenly pull a "ha! it was all an illusion! don't you feel silly now?" but you better do it well or people are going to rightfully feel like the whole story was pointless and the characters have no agency. AoT just didn't do it well, they needed more time. still a great show overall though.

That’s not what it boiled down to. It’s very clear that Eren wanted to do the rumbling which is literally what he says. The space work didn’t make it him say it at all, that’s not the point. Eren’s see a future he can’t believe and is guilty about but he can’t deny himself and his true desires.

I don't think the inheritors of the attack titan were predetermined. I think that the desire for freedom inherited by the power will seek a next inheritor that already has those traits. That made Eren's extreme desire for freedom "attractive" to Grisha as the next inheritor. But no one had the unquenchable thurst for freedom quite like Eren did. That's why Eren was the first in 2000 years to finally have the ability/traits that lead to free Ymir.

I also think isayama kinda always had this mindset for eren because of the one person in all of aot who never subcombed to the cycle of well moving foward and not like moving foward Litterally cause everybody does but moving foward mentally every aot charecters goals/dreams always involved them evolving and growing changing as a person in order to achieve this however only one persons goal aligned with just such a simple nature such a simple mindset and it didn’t come from a sense of hatred it came from a sense of understanding and acceptance this charecter is mikasa.
Mikasa since the beginning of aot and until the end didn’t really care about something bigger then her she just wanted to be with the people she loved yet just like eren and every other charecter circumstances forced her to move foward except unlike eren mikasa didn’t seek revenge she didn’t even seek understanding the truth of this world because she already knew it in her own words “ I’ve seen it time and time again” Mikasa since a very young age understand that the world is a cruel place which I’m pretty sure every aot charecter understood at one point however for most aot charecters that’s just where they stopped they accepted that the world is cruel and became another cogwheel in the cycle of war however mikasa also realized that while the world is cruel it’s also so beautiful.
This was realized in s1 and this is basicllg erens entire flaw he couldn’t escape the cruelty in the world and it killed him. So while this is just my personal belief I think something in isayama had always planned for this time be erens charecter arc or charecter arc to then regression and mikasa was their to show not only why it happened but to also show what would happen if eren wasn’t so fixated by n moving foward for something bigger then him

You seems to have really missed the shot on the attack titan power. Yes the attack titan power is to see the futur and they seek freedom... because eren is the one that manipulated things to get this way since he his the last of the attack titan. It's not the titan power to seek freedom. But the will of eren that is imposed on the previous owner of the titan. Which in turn enslave himself cause he know the futur and how everything will unfold while remaining powerless to stop it. The irony of his situation.

This just causes a bunch of groups in the fanbase to call each other stupid for empathizing with certain characters as apposed to others. When did he plan to be stopped ? Did he want to do 100 percent before but planned to be stopped for some reason and when did that happen? I really like them both, I don't think they contradict each other at all besides when in this video he says Erin knew Sasha would die.
In the other video the man talks specifically about what Erin knew from when he kissed historias hand and he isn't shown everything.
If I remember right, Erin kisses her hand and he gets all the memories from Grisha. So future Erin decided grisha would have certain memories but wouldnt show him everything that is why he begged to be shown more and so when past Erin kissed historias hand he didn't get ALL of the knowledge from the future, he saw that he would get his "freedom" but not every step it would take to get there and not that he would be stopped.

I still refer to the moment in ramzis tent when he's right next to Mikasa and the way he looks at her. I too agree he might not necessarily "love her" because he never says that in the entire story to begin with (contrary to popular belief). I think it's more a reflection of what he doesn't want to lose anymore, he doesn't want to lose her, whether it be love or not, but I do think there are subtle moments where he begins to care for Mikasa more then just his adopted sister. He sees strength in her and knows he is the one thing she cares for more then anything, hell he even helps her through a lot of this, pointing at the contradictions between her feelings and reality in many ways, but she was always there with him, protecting him and caring for him, and now he's about to die before he ever got the chance to do or say anything about it, and he's dying alone. Its funny, but it reminds me of the scene in season one after Carla is eaten. Eren says this "it's gone, all gone...I never even got a chance to say I love you (referring to his mom)."

8:07 Honestly, I don't think that the hand that Grisha stabs has any inherent symbolic connection to when he grabbed his sister and led her outside the internment zone, since it's technically a two-handed action. One hand stabs, the other gets stabbed, meaning both are important here. If it were reversed, it would simply change from "the hand that gets stabbed is the same" to "the hand that he uses to stab himself is the same" meaning that the exact hand that he used doesn't matter here and therefore doesn't have as strong or direct of a connection to anything else.

First off, im an ending hater. Im one of those people who hated how eren was written in the end (specifically just the parts where he was revealed to have spoken to his friends one last time). If ur wondering why im here, its because its only correct of me to see other view points to my opinion. Im not one of the ending haters who thinks aot needs to end sad or cannot be positive. I just dont like all the retcons (yes i said retcons) the ending made. To start, lemme say what i dont hate about the ending.
    1) eren being able to open up to armin and breaking down is a very good scene (its what he says i hate)
    2) while i would've preferred everyone who became titans die (because i was genuinely shocked isayama was gonna kill em off) i think its alright that they survived
    3) the Stockholm syndrome of ymir is ok
    4) everything before the reveal of eren talking to everyone and everything after is still peak aot
Now heres what u dont like and i want people to ACTUALLY debate with me about these aspects
    1) saying mikasa is the key to everything and refusing to explain it is stupid. You can have the characters not know why mikasa is the key but u cannot do that to the audience
    2) mikasa returning to eren's grave WHILE SHES MARRIED IS A TERRIBLE DECISION
    3) eren being SO "in love" with mikasa is not in character for eren. He can like mikasa (it was foreshadowed in the previous special) but being this incel about her is out of character
    3) eren is the villain yes but he isnt an idiot. This entire operation was well thought out by eren and dont like how hes suddenly supposed to be this hot headed idiot who suddenly has god like powers who misused them.
    4) being revealed that eren saw into future and made it so that he wanted to look like the villain and his friends look like heroes is basically retconning everything that had got to do with him wanting to save eldians from racism. Also, if he could see into the future and wanted better lives for his friends, why did he kill hange, flotch, jean and connie(for a moment) in the first place? Its all plot holes.

1:19 No, this was not the most ruthless attack in the story. Actually we even get to see Annie swing around soldiers and stomp on them, we see Reiner break the walls which led to so many people being eaten alive by titans. It looked more brutal because it was the attack titan doing it, and even then Eren was fighting racists and other titan shifters.
1:37 No, Eren does not look heartbroken, but thanks for trying to imply romance to better the story after the fumbling.
2:06 Eren laughed after belittling himself before the scarf scene with Mikasa. Connie bringing it up to Mikasa, who would know Eren laughs when he breaks down and Mikasa not knowing (because she doesn’t understand Eren) despite seeing it happen before is why he laughed. He’s not a psychopath
2:20 Eren is upset that Hange would try to throw it in Erens face that he’s such a bad person despite the fact what he’s doing is only because the scouts are useless in finding a solution. Hange admits this herself
2:55 what does the attack titan have to do with anything? and up to this point it seems like you’re trying to make Eren out as a villain but also saying that he’s just acting. I don’t get it, how could he be a victim while being the villain at the same time?

    1. Be free (Physically)
    2. Protect Paradis.
    Doesn’t that just make sense?
3:49 You admit Ymir is free.
4:13 Nothing in AOT is “Predetermined” Not even the rumbling was. It’s all because of choices

He burdened both of his children so why should he be able to live freely? its not that aots timeline is deterministic or aots story is this destiny kind of stuff

Eren did nothing wrong and got betrayed by jealous and stupid friends.

My overall opinion is i found the story unsatisfying in the worst ways. The story relies on so much philosophy to justify actions that if any amount of logic is applied falls apart. It is an all or nothing, paradis was destroyed ultimately making the story of freedom moot and i asked myself why did i watch a society (eren) start the apocalypse just to cut short at 80% then years later watch all i wanted to be saved get turned to ash. The finale of the child walking into the same tree as ymir restarting the cycle just felt like a rushed ending TO ME. The issue is that the ending was so bleak that i have no reason to come out of the story with any amount of satisfaction and with no understanding of what happens after the rumbling and paradis' destruction it makes me feel like i wasted time watching a story that all my characters liked and disliked die unceremoniously in bombs and rockets with a child and a dog being all the remaims thay we have seen.

If you come to story like AoT and expect something like FMAB or Naruto kind of ending then may be the story is not the problem 😂😂😂😂

@TienNguyen-ky4dx I've never seen either of those my dude. I watched AoT as blind and unbiased as possible and that's what my opinion was.
