Hello Jonathan you have Golden Hands!!! We are all blessed that you want to share your great talent with us!!! Thanks Jonathan and Tom Greetings from the Netherlands.
I've seen many church organists play, but none at this level. Jonathan is playing runs with his feet that would be a challenge playing with one's hands. And to top it off, he is playing with his hands, thus three parts all at once. I've never really seen anyone play the organ to this level of complexity and efficiency. I've been watching for weeks and can't stop. I'm hooked. Bravo! Encore! Encore!
Jonathan made this instrument sing beautifully, as always, with expressiveness, control and wonderful registration changes, indeed. Well done Jonathan. Phoenix Arizona, USA
Kendal!!! It's where my paternal great grandfather is from! Nice to hear the organ at the Kendal parish church. I visited there years ago in 1984! Thank you!!! Brillant!
Can we just appreciate how Tom is who is making the video come to all of us and with out his work (and Johnathan's) we wouldn't be able to listen to such glorious music such as this. Best wishes Tom and Johnathan and i cant wait for you to do a concert in Ripon Cathedral !!!!
Bravo Jonathan. A magnificent performance in a beautiful setting. J S Bach would be proud of you. Thank you Tom for the lovely tour around this church. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Watching you two again and again I repeatedly marvel at how you do it … Jonathon with his hands and feet and Tom with his cameras coordinated so seamlessly with the hands and feet. I’m your grateful fan in San Diego, CA. By the way, we boast the largest outdoor pipe organ in the world along with our own civic organist!! The organ pavilion is in Balboa Park which also includes our world famous zoo. (Our animals are unusually cultured!). What a thrill it would be for you to grace our fair city with your sumptuous artistry!!
Excellent visual coordination with the performance. The consistency of tempo was very good allowing the counterpoint to be clearly followed. The registration enhanced the clarity of the fugue. Lots of practice for sure! The soundtrack engineering captures the performance effectively, imho. You have a pleasant, accessible middle of the road performance style. I can imagine JS Bach composing the D Major in his early twenties after experiencing the virtuoso performances of Buxtehude. He probably could rehearse on a pedal clavichord when bellows pumpers were not available.18th century musicianship must have been very good. Thank you for sharing your artistry. All the best from west Michigan (USA).
You just have to admire everthing about this felicitous performance: The player, the organ, the locale, the composer. Everything working together--it is marvelous! Thanks to the teamwork of the Scott bothers.
Johnathan you r so very Dramatic but I love it ❤️😘❤️ If you Love something and cannot express it u don't believe in yourself... that's what my Czechoslovakian piano teacher it is not all about technique.Feel the music 🎵🎶 It gives me inner peace ☮️ and pride to hear what I am playing Thank u and Much Love to you and Tom Ms Dee
One of my favorites...well played thank you. I can’t help wondering if Bach was really showing off here in the various iterations of that simple fugue theme. Almost in a joking manner. It’s a marvelous piece of work both in the writing and the performance. Wonderful way to start my day here.
One day in eternity, J.S.B meets J.S. J.S.B, raising an eyebrow, asking "Ready for a contest?" J.S, with a fine smile on his face, nodding "With pleasure". And the battle goes on and on and on, it's time enough in eternity ... I'm looking forward to it and hope to get a front row seat there. All the best. ✨
On CD it's hard to beat Kevin Bowyer's complete series of JSB's organ works on the Nimbus record label. All recorded on the Marcussen organ of Sct. Hans Kirke, Odense, Denmark.
Excellent as expected. Would like a program showing what equipment you and Tom use including where decisions are made about camera and microphone placement. Unless of course its a trade secret.
Superb playing, and the organ sounds good in spite of the fact that there are two sets of side aisles, meaning too many pillars and ruining the acoustics. The same is true of St. Mary Magdalene, Taunton.
I prefer that the grand central sections of Bach pieces like this prelude be played forte or with fuller organ, and not arbitrarily played too softly. Well-played, though.
As much as I like this piece, listening to the fugue just now it strikes me that it's not very fugue-like compared to some of Bach's other fugues - is it really a fugue?
One of my favourite J.S.Bach compositions to play and listen to. I use the Novello edition adhering strictly to the notation and adding no ornamentation of my own. (A pet hate of mine). As usual in recordings and many performances of this piece, Virtuoso Organists take the fugue too fast for my liking and enjoyment, to its detriment despite how note perfect and Brilliantly played it is. Bach himself would have never played or even been able to play at this speed on the organs in his day and I deem that these performances cannot be classed as authentic.
If old Sebastian Bach is out there somewhere, he is smiling at this. Tom: sweet, sweet edit.
Bach is always smiling in a wiser way.

I found it. I found Bach. This is it. This is exactly how it is played. This. Is. It.

I played this before but Jonathan Scott got much Better playing this piece
Pousane is German for trumpet, basically a German trumpet reed stop.
Isn't Posaune = Trombone and Trumpet= Trompete? 🤔
@@knollebotte472 yes you are right my mistake. Pousane is a 16 or 32 trombone reed stop initiating the trombone.
Trompette is french for trumpet
As usual , what can one say?
