True artists are benefactors of mankind. More and more we need contact with Music this excellent to heal our hearts and minds. Gratitude to the Duo. Congratulations to Poland for these fine instruments.
This must be the Passacaglia of passacaglias. A gem. Played by arguably the best concert organist in the world. And such a beautiful setting. Magnificent Organ. Bach at his best. Jonathan in top form, as always!
Seriously people, if your heart chakra needs a boost, just listen to this particular piece. Thank you so much for sharing. I truly believe that organ music can heal. It is all about frequencies
I saw the late Virgil Fox play this piece at a concert in my hometown in 1972, accompanied by a stunning light show. I can still feel the exhiliration from that performance.
Was für eine phantastische Rieger-Orgel. Dazu die unglaublich gelungene Performance. So ein Klasse Organist! Die Registrierung ist genial. Ist das von vorne an ein 32Fuß im Bass? Vielen Dank!
When I listen to this performance: I can't help but think of Simon Preston, Peter Hurford, Marie-Claire Alaine, Helmut Walcha & E. Power Biggs: I am not competent to know where Jonathan Scott should rank amongst them, but I do think that he belongs right in there alongside them.
I would love to see a video about how Tom records all these stunning works! The quality of sight and sound looks like done by a Hollywood crew of 100's.
There is something particularly grand about this piece. Each time the theme returns is an aha moment - there it is again! - as the momentum builds to the colossal finish. Wonderful registrations highlighting the stately theme. Bravo!! Thanks for sharing. 👏👏👏👏👏💐🎹🎶
I love Bach, but I've never heard this pretty piece before.---I can't imagine the emotions that you both must experience, being in such a magnificent edifice...wow.
The emotions induced by performing this piece are indeed beyond imagination. The great Peter Hurford once said about his recording of this piece at Our Lady of Sorrows, Toronto, something like "I well remember the occasion. I couldn't speak, let alone play anything, for upwards of an hour afterwards". I play the piece myself and experience similarly strong emotions, especially when playing without the score: a really intense experience that significantly enhances the depth of meaning of my life.
Fabulous!! Every time you outdo yourself! What you can do with the instrument is really difficult! In addition, the place is of great beauty. I think Bach is perfect for the place and the time! Congratulations!!👏👏👏💖😘😘
Holy mother of God! This Bach masterpiece is this worthy of the best version on YT or do I have good head phones? So many textures Mr Scott gets out of this organ. Beautiful sound. Virtuosic playing. Great organ. What would Bach say? Bravo!!!
What a fabulous organ, visually and tonally. Interesting spec too with voices like the tubas Episcopalian AND sonora! Rieger at their best I think. And a beautifully measured and registered rendition Jonathan. Thank you so much.
Wow!! I am always lost for superlatives when commenting on these videos! The Basilica, the organ & the work by Bach, the videography are all glorious but Bach's works somehow bring out the absolute best in Jonathan & his performances seem to go up a level (as if that were possible!!). Jonathan this was absolutely outstanding!! I'm sure I will come back to this video again & again. Thank you both so much for uploading it & giving us such a treat.
Bachs music is harmony woven from chaos and the Scotts are pervayours of this sublime art and make our broken world whole for a moment which we then can take it into our lives and our world. A healing we all need.
He played this difficult and great piece of music very well.👍🥰 Congratulations, Jonathan Scott Bach! Congratulations on the images, Tom. The sound of this magnificent organ of this beautiful church is very beautiful. 🙌🙌🙌💯🙋♀
Bravo, Jonathan!! This is a magnificent performance of the Bach Passacaglia and Fugue in C Minor! I have also enjoyed the views shown of the equally magnificent Polish church! My best regards to you and your brother.....Will Ortiz
Everyone loves the Passacaglia but for the me the Fugue is the great part of this work. Especially played by such a fine organist on such a magnificent organ.
Aahh!!!🤗 THANK YOU brothers!!!🙏 Beautiful fotage and brilliant playing!!!!! And a amazing organ❤️❤️❤️🎹🎹🎹🎹 One of my absolute favorite bwv's!! Thank u soo much brothers!!🙏🙏🤗❤️
I have some worries here...my local organist who i have followed an listened to for 9 years...has decided to mowe on to another part och Sweden. All luck to him🙏 But Im' lost...i need organ and Bach!!! Can you help me? 🤗🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹
This might aswell be the most beautiful recording I have found on this piece so far. The clarity, The performance, The organ..everything just works👍 Good job
Bravissimo. It's nothing less than breathtaking to hear the organ thundering. The ostinato repeating throughout is mesmerizing. The Bach's Passacaglia is, in my opinion, one of the greatestest achievements of the western music.
Superlative performance of a great organ work. Registration sparkling and imaginative as always. Impeccable performance and great recording and video work. Thanks again, Jonathan & Tom
Johnathan, I listen to a lot of organists, but don’t worry, I always come back to You!! You have something the others don’t, that is You!! You’re not only brilliant, but a magician! You and Tom are such a seamless duo as well. You send my spirit Heavenward, but never so high that I can’t hear you, or I crash straight back to earth!!👼👼👼👼👼👼👼👼👼👼
My absolute favorite piece for the pipe organ, I remember wanting so badly to see your interpretation some months ago and I cant believe I didnt see this as it released! Great work!
This is my favourite piece of music in history and I have listened to dozens of versions, from the organ to orchestral, harpsichord, even a heavy metal adaptation. So hopefully it will mean something that for me your wonderful rendition is among the best!
While the musicianship is of course marvellous, let's not forget the visuals. Tom knows how to keep things from becoming boring without using cheesy cuts.
Excellent tempo to let the music breathe and imaginative registration. I always look forward to the Neapolitan sixth chord climax in the fugue (at 11.58). The Rieger restoration of this period Baroque (?) instrument is interesting in having the Hauptwerk (Great) on the bottom I manual and two tuba stops, a French récit, obviously for modern versatile use.
I think it would be really nice if you would make these videos with a live audience each time. Publicize the events well in advance to fill up the church. I think it is always more exciting to see the peoples reaction to your wonderful playing.
Bach’s magnum opus (opinions may vary). I now have a new favorite recording of my favorite Bach piece. I wish you guys would upload the audio only to iTunes or similar, I would drop a couple bucks each to be able to listen to this and others on my way to work.
A very fine performance, however, the tempo is a little quick. I would prefer less contrast in volume between the manuals. Sometimes I think the reeds overpower too much. This is just my opinion. I must emphasize I did enjoy this performance though. Listening again, I think the tempo is fine.
Waaaaaaay too fast for a church like this with 6 or 7 seconds of reverberation. The beauty of this piece is not so much the theme in the pedal as it is the cathedral of counterpoint above it, one astonishing variation after another. With more than just a few stops drawn, it all turned to mush. Technically impressive, but not very musical.
If the birth of the universe had a sound track, it would be this Bach passacaglia. The performance was superb.
The Passacaglia and Fugue in Cm is at the top of my list of favorite JSB pieces.
Lots of passacaglias were composed before and after Bach. Bach touched this form only once, and brought it to its absolute highpoint.
He created the passacaglia of passacaglias. I love to play it.
Bach killed the genre ... no stone remained on turned ... ❤❤❤
WONDERFUL performance, Jonathan, of the most WONDERFUL organ piece in the world by the most WONDERFUL organist and composer !!!!!!
There is NOTHING LIKE A PIPE ORGAN, especially with Jonathan in control. BRAVO!
True artists are benefactors of mankind. More and more we need contact with Music this excellent to heal our hearts and minds. Gratitude to the Duo. Congratulations to Poland for these fine instruments.

Silencio...JSB etá creando el mundo
Amazing!!!!!!! Composer, organist, video editor, registration, sound, organ, church!!!!!!!!!
🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
GLORIOUS!! Probably my favorite solo organ work, performed by my ABSOLUTE favorite organist!!! Thank you SO much!!!
Thank You, Jonathan and Tom.xx

Just FABULOUS! Probably the most exquisite piece of organ music ever composed!
BRAVO MR JONATHAN SCOTT 👏👏👏👏👏💞
Was für eine phantastische Rieger-Orgel. Dazu die unglaublich gelungene Performance. So ein Klasse Organist! Die Registrierung ist genial. Ist das von vorne an ein 32Fuß im Bass?
Vielen Dank!
superlative execution compliments
You just can't get better than this. Your ear is phenomenal, those stops are divine. Pride of the North West.... Simple 👌 👍 ✌️ 🧘♂️
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤It lifts my spirit up into HIGH PLACES!

Strong, linear, overwhelming.
After many years alwais touching.
There is something particularly grand about this piece. Each time the theme returns is an aha moment - there it is again! - as the momentum builds to the colossal finish. Wonderful registrations highlighting the stately theme. Bravo!! Thanks for sharing. 👏👏👏👏👏💐🎹🎶
Hallo!!!
O my fantastic!!!
What else can I say than Thank you very much!!! Perfect!!!!

Look for the performance by the late Virgil Fox. Not on TH-cam. On one of his 1970s live concert record albums. Another superlative rendition.
I just saw there is one on YT. Probably from years ago. Not concert footage.
I know right....can't get enough of it. It keeps coming back like a favorite memory. Out of no where.....
Second to view. As usual it’s beautiful. Thanks brothers for taking us along.
Fabulous!! Every time you outdo yourself! What you can do with the instrument is really difficult!

Fantastico! Semplicemente fantastico!

Magnificent! One of the first organ pieces I ever heard, and learned, as a child.
By far the most epic rendition of this piece I’ve heard. Karl Richters version is a close second.

Thought this was really great three weeks ago---it still rocks the house.
Amazing performance🍃thank you
Wow! This is powerful! Beautifully played and videotaped. xx
I was looking forward to this incredible piece 🤩🎹 this music is a masterpiece nothing more to say 🎶
my favourite piece of Bach and also my party piece 8). Beautifully played with a very interesting choice of stops. Great Jonathan!
I lost count at the shivers that went up my spine when I reached 7. Amazing.
He played this difficult and great piece of music very well.👍🥰
Congratulations, Jonathan Scott Bach! Congratulations on the images, Tom. The sound of this magnificent organ of this beautiful church is very beautiful. 🙌🙌🙌💯🙋♀
Bravo.....job well done!!!
Superb.
Impressive beyond words. Bravo Jonathon.

Amazing😍
Monumental and sublime.
Thanks my dear dear brothers!
Nice registration, it brings out some formerly hidden melodies, and as aspected a real pleasure to listen to a masterly recreated BWV 582
I believe you mean “as expected”.
Everyone loves the Passacaglia but for the me the Fugue is the great part of this work. Especially played by such a fine organist on such a magnificent organ.
Love it❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏
Beautiful! I try to imagine what it would be like to hear it at the moment of execution!
Awed to speech;essness . Bravo maestro!
Absolutely fantastic Jonathan!🤗👏👏👏👏👏
Bach, master of improvisations and dub step.
Congrats ! Very good Passacaglia rendering !
Proving once again that Bach was masterful. This is one of my favorite Bach pieces. Excellent performance in a glorious church. Bravo!
Aahh!!!🤗 THANK YOU brothers!!!🙏
Beautiful fotage and brilliant playing!!!!! And a amazing organ❤️❤️❤️🎹🎹🎹🎹
One of my absolute favorite bwv's!! Thank u soo much brothers!!🙏🙏🤗❤️

I can't even pronounce this. What skill it must take to perform it!
Tears in my eyes!
Awesome performance. 🥰. A new favorite in the organ playlist.
great, wonderful execution, 582 adored! Thank you

Spectacular playing of such a majestic piece. Well Done, Jonathan. Slàinte Mhath.
Great music and amazing musician !
Today was my first day to try out the pipe organ and boy it is extremely hard work!
Good luck
Superlative performance of a great organ work. Registration sparkling and imaginative as always. Impeccable performance and great recording and video work. Thanks again, Jonathan & Tom
Wait for that bottom C. Spectacular.
First to view 👍👍🥰🥰🥰FABULOUS!!!!

Wunderschön gespielt!!!
👍👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏👏
Bravo Jonathan . A masterful performance of a beautiful piece by JSB. Fabulous sound and vision Tom. I enjoyed every single moment. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Magnificent music, registration, and performance! Thank you both for another wonderful visual and aural experience!
This piece was once in my repertoire in my salad days but sadly no longer. Brought back wonderful memories. Thanks, guys! 😀
Some portions made me think of a large cathedral bell chamber with a large peel of bells ringing out beautifully played thanks to you both
My absolute favorite piece for the pipe organ, I remember wanting so badly to see your interpretation some months ago and I cant believe I didnt see this as it released! Great work!

Piękny dźwięk z tych organów się wydobywa ...
❤️ bach ❤️
Amazing!!!
Superb interpretation

I'm glad that there is no coughing in the background...
Fenomenal execution. I prefer it in a bit slower tempo, but this interpretation sounds fantastic.
I had never heard of Mr Scott.
Welcome to a new world of pleasure then - one the best organists in the world
Bach’s magnum opus (opinions may vary). I now have a new favorite recording of my favorite Bach piece. I wish you guys would upload the audio only to iTunes or similar, I would drop a couple bucks each to be able to listen to this and others on my way to work.
The late Virgil Fox did a great performance on one of his live concert albums in the 1970s.
What a wonderful performance. By the way, can you do an organ solo of 'I was Glad' by C. H. Parry in one of your future videos? Thanks in advance
Mamma mia! È innegabile la bravura di Jonathan ma che "strumento" portentoso!
I really like your videos! Why not any Brukner’s powerful excerpts?
A very fine performance, however, the tempo is a little quick. I would prefer less contrast in volume between the manuals. Sometimes I think the reeds overpower too much. This is just my opinion. I must emphasize I did enjoy this performance though. Listening again, I think the tempo is fine.
How Big is play it?
This version does not grate on your ears
This is good. And not his transcription or arrangement either. Played how it should be.
