    I think it's great that professional like them can do a basic foxtrot like that . I really enjoy this.

    The choreography itself is medallist level.
    The performance level is stellar.
    We can all run after a fashion,but few can do the 100m under 10 secs.

    Basic means syllabus figures only. The fact that these people have gone way beyond gold level gives them more technique to throw into syllabus figures to make it look more difficult.

    As hard as I'm trying, I honestly cannot pick up the Slow Foxtrot beat in this music. I'm almost tempted to think that the dancers are actually performing to another number and this one has been dubbed on for our benefit.

    Mirko and Alessia are making this "basic" in the sense of up to and including 'Gold' standard. However, "basic" might cause viewers to imagine both that it's possible to learn this in five minutes and that the dance is the same as the American "Social" Foxtrot, which can be learnt in five minutes. The same confusion arises as regards the International Tango and the Argentine Tango. The Samba is indeed a tricky dance. I think I've either lost my "bounce" or never had one in the first place.

      I have taken lessons in A Murray, Pro Divida and F Astair American styles. None of them have a category called “social”.
      I have taken International style instruction and THEY have a category called “social”. The internationals teach a watered down, over simplified version (their version) of what they imagine American to be, and call it “social”. It is not an American style, it is an international style.

    Oh dear, we've had arguments over the word "basic" in respect of other dance clips and here we go again! What Mirko and Alessia are demonstrating here will undoubtedly be "basic" to them, but the Slow Foxtrot happens to be the most difficult dance in the world. If anyone watching this clip thinks they could achieve this supposedly "basic" level in five minutes, or even five months, they're destined for disappointment. Take it from me guys, this ain't basic!

    @TheNewSonic102 "Fever". It's been done by many artists, most notably perhaps by Peggy Lee. Not sure which version this is.

  • @accordionguy1
    @accordionguy1 13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That music is not Foxtrot. Fever? It's got a latin Tangana rhythm - I don't get it.

    Silver level foxtrot, girls! Mmmemories of ome youthful and wholesome fun… gee goofy times they were. But extremely enjoyable! ღ : D Hard to remember how much sparkling water with lemon was to be had. Anyway, your dance performance delivered some impressive eye candy. You must be at least gold or better ღ Lord knows, looking sharp!

    I look at 'basic' as the box step, with a different variation of count. More advanced, as here, has gliding, different count, looks similar to waltz, and more elegant..

  • @Stanlee74
    @Stanlee74 14 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Doesnt matter what do they dance. These figures are supposed to be simple enough to reveal what is important to do slowfox. I think they perform it in very pure way. Those who can`t appreciate it should try to dance it like this. Mirko and Alessia can dance for hours in front of you but it is individual wether you understand it or not. Same for any other basic video from any other dancers.

      XxXTsubasaHoLic13 , it just seems like the top line is too exaggerated these days. It’s as if the lady has to do a constant back bend. It hasn’t always been like that.

    @Czerniakowska it took me 40 min to learn properly with the swaying and rising and all them guudies so come on im 16 yrs old so its really not that hard

  • @DevonDandy
    @DevonDandy 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    You could also say that there is no such thing as quickstep music or even rumba and cha cha , where pop music if often offered for people to dance to these days. If it is 4/4 and the right speed, experienced dancers can work with it but in my experience dancing is much more enjoyable to the correct rhythm, especially in Latin American, and less experienced dancers will find it easier to stay on time. Social dance events are sometimes ruined by inappropriate music.

    Clever old you! Just stay alive kid and you'll learn over the years that all manner of things become harder to master than they did when you were 16. You're clearly a genius, anyway, since you have somehow managed to become two years younger than you were when you joined TH-cam. Personally, I never succeeded in mastering time travel.

  • @Czerniakowska
    @Czerniakowska 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well, we're all different. We like what we like, and to me this particular music is total crap and inappropriate for the Slow Foxtrot.

  • @ianforbes
    @ianforbes 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @accordionguy1 There's no such thing as actual "foxtrot" music. As long as the song's tempo is close enough to 28-30 bars per minute with 4/4 time, you can dance the foxtrot to it. In this video's case they're just using the fever song for the demo purposes.

  • @Czerniakowska
    @Czerniakowska 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm sure you're right, just as I'm sure I can't hear it. Either way, it's a lousy choice of music for a demonstration like this.

    check out the timing video for this dance and that should help a bit. also, the further you get in dance the more you understand that there is late rise, early rise and ect. that kind of makes the timing look different but its not.

    IS THAT AMERICAN SMOOTH STYLE OR INT. FOXTROT ?

  • @Czerniakowska
    @Czerniakowska 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    It varies from dance to dance. Much contemporary pop music lends itself to the Latin dances and Cole Porter's music is still sufficiently attractive and romantic to keep the Slow Foxtrot alive. Most people like Waltz-rhythm ballads and the Argentine Tango craze has breathed life into its ballroom cousin. The Quickstep always had the lousiest music of all dances and has dated disastrously. At my ballroom club we are occasionally even expected to dance it to the theme from The Muppet Show!
