We do not rival Google Maps, we long ago surpass Google Maps, Here Maps, Bing Maps and Apple Maps by far... The power of many could not be equaled by even big corporations...
@@user-ii6cj8gi8u OSM is a map database mostly used by companies that need map functionality. It's not a replacement for the Google maps *application*. It might have good quality mapping data, but without a decent travel planner, review system, mobile app, etc., it just isn't a viable replacement for the typical consumer. I know third party services have been created as alternatives to Google maps, but they're super niche.
In many apps you can download the data for offline usage. So before going there you can download everything and use it there. The offline maps of OSM include *all* data you want or need, much more detail than Google maps.
Google maps was inaccurate and missing a lot of stuff where I lived less developed area. I discovered OSM and it had a lot more detail and streets/points that were missing on google as well as a higher level of detail for smaller things.
"OSM is the Wikipedia of maps"
As a Wikipedia editor that is the best way you could possibly put it
I agree. I’m just glad you don’t need to source everything and that there aren’t any trolls

I agree, even in my local area OSM has way more details than any other provider

TomTom is a big corporation and collaborates with OSM and shares data back and forth 😂 🤓

Polish State Fire Service uses OSM a primary source for geographical data. Here too OSM help to save lives 💪
