    Hi, I wanted to ask if you would have any idea on why even after trying all the proper projection adjustments, when I export the OSM data vectors as DXFs, they are never scaled 1:1, when opened with any AUTODESK programs, with the dimensions they show on QGIS.

    • @philipwhite2088
      @philipwhite2088  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi--I'm not sure as I don't do any CAD work... However: my question for you is: how are you exporting it as DXF because there are several ways. There's the right-click > Export method, and there's also a tool in the toolbox called Export to Layers to DXF. There's also the v.out.dxf tool in the Grass > Vector tool set. If you've been trying the right-click method, I would give some of these more specific tools a try. That's about as far as I am willing to guess at how to fix this problem. I hope maybe that helps.

    Does the building polygon include info on building height and floors?

    • @philipwhite2088
      @philipwhite2088  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. Sometimes, but it depends on what information the person who digitized the building included in the attributes when it was digitized. Check the following attribute fields: building.levels (floors) and height.

    Does this engine actually provides same plugins/settings for *OpenTopoMap* ?

    • @philipwhite2088
      @philipwhite2088  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think so. You can add the tiles (aka basemap) for OpenTopoMap via the QuickMapServices plug-in, but I don't think the QuickOSM plug-in has topographic information/data for download. OpenTopoMap uses SRTM data combined with regular OSM data. Other than the topographic data, you should be able to get most everything else on OpenTopoMap via QuickOSM (roads, water, etc). If you need some elevation data, EarthExplorer is a good place to start for DEMs: earthexplorer.usgs.gov/. You can use QGIS' contour tools to create contours from a DEM.

    • @philipwhite2088
      @philipwhite2088  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      After adding the OSM data, you could right click on the layer and export. specify that you want to export as CSV, and that will export just the attirubte table, which has street names in the attributes.

    it's somehow possible to extract the Contours to Vector?

    • @philipwhite2088
      @philipwhite2088  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Perhaps too late, but... I don't believe OSM has elevation information. Depending on your area of interest, you could get elevation data from a variety of sources. In the US, try the National Map. You can also get a digital elevation model for anywhere in the globe and derive the contours... try Googling "qgis create contours from dem". NASA has an updated global scale elevation model data set: www.gislounge.com/updated-global-elevation-data-released-by-nasa/

    How do I filter for school zone signs and construction zone signs?????

    • @philipwhite2088
      @philipwhite2088  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice car. I have not seen school zone data in OSM, and it wouldn't have construction zones as those are temporary. For school zones, you might have better luck searching for GIS data from the local department of transportation for whatever area you're working on. Same for construction zones. You can usually find speed limit information in the attributes of DOTs' most detailed roads layers.

    • @tim123barry

      @@tvdp1010 I mean just perform one query, that would get the results of say Highway:Motorway + Highway:Primary + Highway:Secondary together at once, rather than doing 3 separate queries for each, and then having to merge the 3 layers. I suspect can be done with Overpass Query coding, just trying to figure out how?
