Those mooring buoys have a metal rod inside, it's not very tick and often corroded. If You want to feel safe, attach Your mooring lines under the buoy, where it's chain is. A bit more difficult and dirt, but if You expect heavier conditions, well worth it.
Changing sails like on a raceboat 👍💪 and the selftacking setup is only good for upwind performance, like the sail is more close to the center, so you can sail harder to the wind (as the charter boats have no barber for the jib/genoa)

Other comment, would really watch and learn from your videos about sailing Lagoon catamaran in strong winds and high waves. A very suitable size of the light genova for comfortable opening and closing. The pinon is too long for the light genova size of 100 m2. You can shorten pinon by at least 1/2. There will be les problems in narrow marinas.

Thanks Richard 🙏 You can but in ideal conditions. In Croatia you mostly can’t as shifting winds and rope would wrap around buoy and in low winds can’t adjust length so buoy would bang into hull and can’t sleep. Also buoys are to close together so need short rope.
And use a anchor alarm instead of anchor as a back when moored on a bouy , anchor will damage reef , the bouy is there in many places where anchoring is not allowed
No reefs in Croatia, anchor alarm is good and anchor is alternative to alarm. When buoy snaps your alarm goes on but you are on the rocs in seconds. Having anchor might stop or slow down boat so good option. Every anchorage is different so good to know many tools.
@40:48 I've never known the props to turn when the engine is off and you are in forward or reverse. Would putting it in forward solve the water pump issue I wonder? Folding props for the win.
Manual says don’t put forward. You can go reverse. Engineer who told me about water pump had fixed lagoon that sailed few days nonstop and destroyed engine when starting it as water in celinder. They could turn off seacock. I guess that when surfing downwaves at high speeds propeler could turn little by little. I know lagoon who crossed Atlantic with reverse and no problem but no big speeds there. Boat that had problems crossed biscay probably with high winds and speed. I keep propeller turning as less drag and less forces on propeller.
for any boat that size they should have digital throttles. so you can have a remote. they use a control box to shift and accelerate at the engine so wireless and wired controls are possible.

In Croatia it gets tangled around buoy as no wind at night and buoy bangs into hull and usually you need to be close to buoy as not much space and better have rope for emergency exit and no reefs in Croatia.
Went to Croatia many years before and during the war. The best place for water sport, great food and wonderful people. Looking forward to come back. Great video this. For your trick with the anchor: How about coiling up some more chain on deck and secure it with a rope thin enough so it is destroyed when the anchor starts to really put load on it? Just an idea...

Talked to engineer in Cascais who repaired New Lagoon after engine failure because they sailed with reverse from France and they got water in celinder and after trying to start it was big damage. They should have seacock off but that is maybe not smart if you forget and start engine. They say that boat is slower if you go reverse and also much more pressure on propellers which are too soft already as in charter business they get replaced every year. Solution is simple- folding prop.
@20:08 I can't see that being a real problem if you have your topping lift and main sheet reasonably tight, helping the shrouds do their job. Its all about balance and dispersing loads...
Manuals of lagoons are confusing. Remember reading that you should not sail under jib alone but than other manuals don’t say it. Somebody who visited lagoon factory told me that topping lift and main sheet should not be used as backstay and that gib or code 0 alone make mast unstable. I just want lagoon to explain it and make it simple to use.
@3:48 Why not just replace the factory bridle with quality line that won't break? Under all but storm conditions a factory bridle is just fine for a mooring ball. I still do what Igor does but it seems excessive.
If winds drop and shift long bridle will loop around buoy. It’s nice if you can adjust the length from the boat. Also connecting bridle to buoy can be hard. I like to be able to quickly release the lines and go if there is emergency but with bridle hooked to buoy and maybe warped around you might have to use knife.
I watch sailing channels all the time. almost every boat with self taking have to short of tracking rails, they need .5-.75 meter more on each side. would have less load on the sails and produce more speed. makes me think they get kick backs from the sail companies when they fail sooner.

Lesson 1, buy a real catamaran, one that can actually sail at reasonable speeds. Condomarans take forever to get anywhere...... You keep saying it's not a racing boat but all good cruising boats have dedicated sheet winches and separate halyard winches. Lagoons are cheap boats that cut every corner possible, especially when it comes to sail handling. I only got 15mins in but your advice is novice at best. I suggest anyone that wants to go cruising should join a club and sail on club racing yachts, you will learn more in one season than you will in five years of cruising.

Attached to head to help bring the sail down in last meters so you don’t have to climb the mast. Runs outside mast.

Do dropping anchor damage the reef? isn't that why they have the buoys? Will one get in trouble with the local law, even the buoy broken?
In Croatia we have no reef. You can anchor mostly everywhere.
You need a crew for 1 or 2 weeks this winter? 10 years as machine marine engineer on north atlantic.

Monohauls use 2 lines to moor, not one.
Perhaps a wise choice, but a personal preference. Unnecessary in mild conditions.

Have tried it and works. Problem is adjusting length of rope and hard to release it under pressure in strong winds.

You keep saying it's not a racing boat but all good cruising boats have dedicated sheet winches and separate halyard winches. Lagoons are cheap boats that cut every corner possible, especially when it comes to sail handling. I only got 15mins in but your advice is novice at best. I suggest anyone that wants to go cruising should join a club and sail on club racing yachts, you will learn more in one season than you will in five years of cruising.
