drinking in Bradford's roughest pubs! - th-cam.com/video/z_JgoAobhNU/w-d-xo.html
Charlie drank in the three crowns in old street they're all from Hoxton👍
great vids, just found you, when you go to the pubs, can you show what beers are on tap? that would be cool, take care. larry from canada
@@TheMississauga333 gonna do that more mate yeh 👍
Ya that be great. You're so lucky to have pubs like that. I'm in the country in canada and we have nothing. I miss my London porter
Great. But they have changed so much over the years.
Visited London back from Japan last year, and can't believe how much it's changed. London feels like a completely different country. It's rare to hear an English accent in London nowadays, let alone a London accent.
London is the best city in the world. Unless you are xenophobic or a racist.
I was born and raised in London, till the age of 11. We moved to Canada, I went back after 40 years and can honestly say nobody downtown London spoke English.
@@WaitAMinute1989 Well, thats a lie. I live in London. I don't speak any other languages. Am I just imagining that people speak English here? Yes, its one of the most multicultural cities on the planet. Yes, you hear other languages. That doesn't mean that no one speaks English. Muppet.
@@WaitAMinute1989talking nonsense the pair of ya
As some1 born and raised in London I’m sick of hearing these lies from miserable undercover racists like you😂😂😂 majority of London speak English u lot jus come here n always get robbed
Nothing wrong with the Blind Beggar. Great pub and brilliant people.
Yea it looked good to me
Just abit odd. Probs because of the history when you're having a swift one
First time I went to Blind Beggar it blew my mind. Thought it was going to be rough.
Gourmet burgers and food. Bier garden with koya carp and Ibiza music. Well chilled.
I used to have a few pints every now and again with a older mate in the Blind Beggar unto 25 years ago when my mate died, unfortunately ain't been back again as I moved area , but may do someday!
Certainly been modernised. I was kinda disappointed tbh, with the history you'd have thought they'd have kept it in it's old theme. Bit characterless now tbh. @@petertheboomscott2104
Me uncle took me in the blind beggar when I was 22yrs old in 1988, he told me the history of the pub, I'm 58yrs now , happy memories of my 2yrs working in London on the whitleys restoration job in Bayswater, so many stories to tell, all true too 👍
Whitley’s has been knocked down now
@berryboo5390 I very much doubt that seeing as it's a grade 11 listed building in London, restored again, extended or converted maybe but definitely not knocked down..
You brought back some memories for me. Used to drink in the Begger at weekends back in the 80s and drink lunchtimes in the Bkackfriars in the 90s...great stuff.
Another brilliant video, one of my favourite channels
The Blind Beggar became famous after the 1966 shooting of Cornell, but there is another pub called the White Hart across the road almost unknown. There are actually two White Hart pubs in Whitechapel.
It's criminal the price of a pint in London😂😂
Deffo mate! Can't afford a proper sesh
love it mate
Come to Australia lol
Try living ere bruv , earn more, no worries.
Melbourne boy here beer prices are crazy now @@cliffecliffe8358
Cracking vid Danny some great insight, also watched yourself & Wendell around these pubs, 2 great tubers in 1 hit, top work fella👊
Day before George Cornell was shot the Krays came into the Tailors my mum worked for and cancelled the suit they were making for him, even paid up the bill for what with had already been done.
Already set in stone. Thanks for the history pal 👍
I really doubt that; the killing of Cornell was opportunistic after he was spottted drinking on "their manor". It was not planned.
That's interesting. I always thought it was a random thing cos he was in their area. Not much point otherwise as the Richards were locked up anyway.
@@darrenfry4695 Try reading what I wrote, Cornell had ordered the suit which has been partly made, the Krays cancelled the order the day before and paid up the difference so the tailors wouldn't be out of pocket, the Krays were regular customers and both our families were very close. It was also done prior to the shooting to enforce the message to the community. Whether you choose to believe it or not is down to you, although personally I would refrain making comments on things you have no knowledge about.
One of the joys about travelling all over the country is trying the local beers that you'd otherwise never encounter. Sticking to Guinness is so boring and unimaginative. Its an ok beer for sure but there are so many much better beers. All that's required is a bit of inquisitiveness.
True mate, deffo venture to different beers abroad. Did have a tasty lime lager this time round, nice change
@@honestplaces It applies here too. English beer is amazing ( so are Scottish and Welsh beers of course). Our beer is something we should celebrate with pride as part of our culture. Anywhere you go ( unless the place is a proper shit hole) will have some great local breweries doing banging beers.
watched a good few of your videos i subbed straight away but this 1 was by far the best for me :) such interesting history surrounding the krays thanks bud
Ahhh cheers pal. Really appreciate it. Got a longer London one coming soon 👍🍺
@@honestplaces super Al look forward to that.....think you have already done Blackpool but there's some right dives here you could go for a pint in😂😂 also we have the cheapest pint around £1.80 for a fosters or john Smith's in the ardwick I no your a Guinness guy tho haha
@@wayneeboiii122 deffo gonna go back there, plenty more dingy pubs to get in!
@@honestplaces look forward to the video can I suggest a pub haha the lifeboat on Foxhall road 😁
I work right near that last pub in Blackfriars. I knew you would be raging at the prices😂. Had a couple in there once myself but the silly price of Guinness put me off. Love your videos. Keep it up mate!
Yeh prices mate, spent so much, need to lay low for abit 🤣 cheers pal, appreciate it 👍
The Cockpit round the corner is a much better pub
@@CS09256 was so many on google maps, my credit card couldn't hack them all 🤣
I had an alcohol free pint close to there and was £6! Wish I still drank alcohol at those prices 😂
this is awesome.the pubs are true to what u see and working class great channel
new to the channel seen a few all great to watch thanks love vlogs like this
Nice and hoppy, banging!! Cheers fella, let's have some longer ones, a nice live Friday night drink along in the sunshine!
🤣 cheers mate. Got a longer London one soon, some right joints 👍🍺
That's krayzy! Sorry I had to 🙈🤣🤣 Enjoyed the vid, you've gained a new sub! 👍
🤣🤣 top comment so far. Cheers pal. Appreciate it 👍
Nice blood red ceiling in there mate and I think you had a lucky escape there mate with the pub that was shut by the looks of it!
🤣🤣 really wanted to see inside that one
2nd ,keep up the good work, great channel 👏
🤣 👍 cheers pal. Appreciate it
Recently subscribed love your content brother keep it up 👍🏻
Great to see the legendary pubs still open, even some from my more recent memories are now long shut down and gone :(
Great video fella! Always a grand watch
Cheers pal. Got a longer one planned as people keep saying they're too short.
Good chat, thanks & best wishes from Western Scotland.
The blind beggar didn’t look half as ropey as my local walkabout did when I went in yesterday!
Great content 👍
Love your videos ... big fan from Toronto!!
Im going into London for a bit of street photography tomorrow I'm only half hour away on the train, I'll be having a beer in the Blackfriars and a few other pubs, great video mate.
Get it done mate 👍 cheers pal
Been enjoying these videos man. .you can shoot at 50 fps if you want to avoid that flicker from the lights (its to do with the electricity supply syncing at 60hz, Im assuming you shot at 60)
Interesting tour , thank you , keep up the good work 👏
Great vlog .....really intresting stuff!
Great video. Well done for coming down to London!
I half expected Zeppelins manager Peter Grant coming back from the dead and tackling our main man telling him to keep his lips sealed!!!
Awesome video. If your over that way again I recommend wapping East London. Was a slum until not long ago has a decent number of pubs long the Thames aswell. The town of ramsgate, captain kidd and the prospect of Whitby. All worth visiting. Also Turners old star is there where they filmed the fight scene in Legend. The mad thing is they obviously dressed the pub up for the film and now it actually looks rougher in real life 😅
Rougher in real life 🤣🤣 cheers pal. I did tower hamlets. But as you say there are alot of dodgy areas
Cracking little vid mate. 👌
Cheers pal 👍
Great vid...keep em coming..
That's got to be the most low key youtube colab ever!
Really weird as I've just subscribed to you and Wendall in the last month or so!
Full video together was the day after 👍
Cool, I'll keep an eye out for it.
Thanks for sharing 👍 interesting, would like to visit these pubs. Subscribed 😊

Cheers pal. Get yourself down there.
Good pub tour mate, you need to do some more estate pubs 👍
Excellent channel mate.
Really interesting video bud enjoyed it cheers 🍺
Great filming. . Subscribed
Cheers pal. Appreciate it 👍
I can't believe that the first pub you venture in has Boon Kriek; which is a lambic from Belgium! I've been drinking their beers since 2006 or so! Wow
The 2nd Carpenter Arms is a great boozer.Been in there on a couple of an occasions.Down from Glasgow and 3 blokes at the bar.Arsenal,Spurs fans and maybe a Chelsea fan.The owner was Tony and made me and my mate so welcome.Went back the following year and the same guys at the bar and remembered us right away with Tony still there.Hope they’re well.
I like this vid.Good vid and good walkabout..
I worked at a pub in New Malden in the late 90s and the manager said it was a Krays pub. It did have tiny secret doors and hallways upstairs. I believe it’s been torn down.
Nice content fella, I wonder what the twins would of thought about their old stamping ground today if they were around to see it
The pub they owned i think they would be happy....nice old classy joint 👍🍺
I'll ask Jay cartwright, his dad plays poker with Danny Dyer and the Kray twins' they're hold up in his warehouse

Great video man, nice one. 🫶
Used to live across the corner from Carpenters Arms, what a great pub!

@@honestplaces Not a problem. 🙂
Brilliant buddy..cheers
Love the vids mate! What do you do for work?
Window cleaner 🤣 cheers pal
Did you notice the thick chains hanging down from the centre of every table in the blind begger? That's for the tourists to chain their bags to. Otherwise the locals keep robbing the bags. Now that is a rough pub! 😂. I was in last week.
No.....🤣 yeh it very odd in there, bizzare feel about it
My partner won't go on a shopping holiday to London anymore because she calls it stab city and is worried about her purse getting taken.
@@honestplaces he's having you dipshit 🙄🤦♂ see? Northerners will believe anything
@@stevemcgowen unless you are a-teenage boy in a sink-estate gang environment, there is virtually no chance of being stabbed in London.
Most locals around the area are honest but of course a tourist 'hot-spot' attracts low lifes..
New to your channel and loving it ❤from Manchester
Manchester is my home town! 👍
@@honestplaces city of or greater?
its odd seeing you in my neck of the woods, another great video mate and for the others in chat cheapest pint i can find is £4.20 for a Guinness in an irish pit of a hole pub up in Wembley
Went down to watch Bolton play at West Ham's Upton Park around 20 years ago. We called in at the Blind Beggar after the game. Not much has changed. from what I can see. We found the place a bit dark but it was almost empty so it wasn't an intimidating place. Average London pub with a dodgy past, nothing to worry about.
There are some belters right around the corner, if you ever return I’d be happy to show you them, old, rough but great.
Great stuff, even Wendell makes an appearance! Could have been worse with the prices to be fair would expect anything in London.
He has a cheeky vid coming out soon!
Nice vid mate, can get a guinness round here in Wembley Park for just over 4 quid, which isn't too bad for London...
Proper Gangsters, great phrase 😄
Nice bit of character in both ❤
Major cities up North are the same price as London and those £7 pints are simply tourist traps. There are plenty of pubs under £5 and a fair few under £4!
Yeh true mate, the cheap ones cancel out the expensive ones in the long run 👍
Ye . spoons.
Pubs in leeds city centre doing pints at £2.50, and they are packed everyday, I personally would not pay a €5, for a pint, as that's just taking the urine...
I expected to see Dobo around the bar in the Blind Beggar, or a few old timer ex Royal Green Jackets. Yes it is rough and most definitely needs some work done to the infrastructure.
Great vlogs ✌️🍻❤️
Cheers pal. Appreciate it 👍
The Krays used the Grave Maurice on Whitechapel Road a lot, although I think it's closed down now. I used to drive past it in the 1980s to watch boxing at York Hall.
Did you ever make a video about that hotel in Manchester?
Saw your video on the boozers and the city centre but couldn’t find the hotel one…
"Looks like it's been airdropped" is my new favorite insult
"surprised there's still not blood on the floor to be honest" LOL
Love how you started in Highgate
Hey man I love your videos and I'm thinking about it now lol. I must be lonely or a sad bastard. You do the stuff I do, I'm from Bradford but live in Norwich to escape from the...... rain lol.
Apparently the Prince of Wales Road in norwich was one of the worst streets in Europe for violence at one time, come down ill get you a few Guineesss, deffo a typo there somewhere.
Its a lovely city, put us on the map.
Also do your videos cover your costs? Thats burning me lol
Increase the peace, see you in Norwich.

Sounds inviting that mate! Love a rough street followed by dodgy boozers. Yeh it covers it mate....and afee beers
No where in Norwich was ever voted as the worst place in Europe u absolute muppet😂
Great vlog. Have a great day.
Fantastic pubs love a drink in them regular
the Carpenters Arms is was an excellent pub and was heavy West ham presence on game days it was always packed ... loads of caharacters
Going to be honest now mate I’ve watched a few of your episodes and been on the fence about subbing but seen you team up with wendel guy and thought I’m enjoying your content why ever not. Only thing I’d say try drinking cask real ale if it’s ever available😁😋
Ahahah cheers pal. I'm gonna venturd out more and explore more beers 👍
Thnks for a bit of history that really was the founder of gang culture in London
True
I used to drink regularly with my mates from Bethnal Green. The Blind Beggar Pub and the Old Dover Castle Pub just off Bethnal Green high street. Proper pubs still with dodgy geezers 😮 drinking there 😮😮. The black friar drank in there loadsa time when based in the city working 😂😂😂
Cool video big man👍
Been in the Blackfriar, excellent real ale pub.
If the Kray Twins were still about, you wouldn't have all this knife crime, muggings and robberies on the streets of Britain and you'd still be able to leave your front door unlocked and find all of your possessions still be there when you returned from work or from the shops. People had proper respect for one another back then.
My auntie used to keep her front door key in the lock throughout the day, so you could just let yourself into her house.
Things were so much safer and better back then. It's a shame we can't turn the clock back and do it all again.
RIP Ronnie, Reggie, Charlie and family. 🙏
Is the marquis of queen’s still open at the start of valence road
If you want a cracking Guinness and as close as you get to Ireland then go to the Coach and Horses in Covent Garden. I bet you probably have , but you won’t beat the Guineas in there.
Great video mate
Cheers pal. Appreciate it 👍
That last gaff 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Was bangin....prices did reflect that 😭
@@honestplacesthey take a lot of tours in there cos of it's history. So they probably cash in like most touristy places
Amazing video 🍻
Looks like you had fun with your Leo Sayer, not surprised that a pint of Guinness there costs way more than a deepsea diver though.
Deepsea diver 🤣
Must have been a fascinating place in the 50’s 60’s and the 70’s , The whole Kray story is Amazing 🤩
Imagine yeh. Crazy!
Glorified psychopaths.

great video man

Was in the Blackfriar last weekend. One of the better pints of Timothy Taylor's Landlord that I've had.
Aint had that in years. Proper pint
Great old pubs in London!!
You know it
Those prices are nuts. Here in Prague at Irish pubs in the heart of tourist central, where only English stag tourists go to get ripped off and because no one else will have them, a pint of Guinness is around 4.5 quid.
Great video
Wow 5.70 a pint mate. Love the videos
Crazy init. Cheers pal
Id call that cheap for London tbh.
Now TFL and the boss Khan are Londons best known dodgies.😂
Yawn
Hang on, was that Wendall with you in the Beggar? Did you take him on a pub crawl? That last one mate, my old man gave me a rule of thumb, never go in a pub with a flat roof and steel shutters. I've done a few and really should have listened to my dad! :D
Yeh it was mate, did a dodgy pub video with him the next day 👍 yeh flat roof pubs mate, always an eye opener!
@@honestplaces Great stuff, was hoping you'd start some collabs. 👍
Nice nostalgic look at the respectable gangsters of yesteryear..
In 80s I drank in a Islington pub the owner was friends of them had pictures. Used to spar with them in boxing club
My dad knew quite a few people back in the day. He said quite a lot of work was done in cafes. When I was young he would take me to the Regency cafe in Westminster and cafes in the east end. Most of these places are gone now. I've written books such as Who Killed the Essex Boys, and Who Killed Stephen Ward, and I some point I will down the other stories about London in the 60's 70's and 80's.
I was in the regency a few days ago. Fantastic cafe. Not many left now.
i allways stop in The Blackfriar when i pop into london before i get the train home i like the pub
Yeh it is a nice spot that. Good location
Another pub the twins would meet up in wasn't in London but still north of the Thames, that was The Fountain New Malden, now sadly demolished !
Bar in the Carpenters used to be made out of a coffin lid. There also used to only be one door in and out so the Krays could keep an eye on who came and went. As regards the Blind Beggar , when the bloke said "Ronnie Kray shot him 4 times"This is of course utter bollox! He shot him once. I was in the Blind Beggar a few weeks ago. Its a great place when it fills up with locals. Full of footie fans the other week when I was in. Proper London.
The bar was never made from a coffin lid and the doors never adapted, what are you talking about?? Before you ask me what do I know, quite a bit as my dad was from London and barely a decade younger, didn't know them well but never got along and they really didn't try to intimidate people from others manors, they were very hyped and feared in parts of the East end, not overly respected by those in the know in fact. Bullies who extorted their own and who were weaker!
@@jasper3127 I certainly agree with the later parts of your post.
First guy said twice. Second guy 4 times. But i lve only ever Heard once in the head. I've also heard about the coffin lid bar.
