Just found your great channel. 2 and a half squids for a pint of the black stuff? Lucky man. Here in Dublin it's about four english quids at the cheapest in May 2024. Pints of Guiness are always worth it.

There’s a pub just near Bradford interchange forget the name, a few year back now, I had half an hour before my train so went for a quick pint, this rough as f@&k old prozzie approached me (like real 1970’s Peter Sutcliffe fodder) and started quoting the price list 😳 suffice to say I said “you’re alright love” necked the beer and headed for the interchange sharpish.
Pulled up to a junction next to the Metropole in about 1995 and a rough old prossie got into my car and offered me anything for a tenner, thought it was a police trap and drove off, she wouldnt get out and so i was about to lock her in but she relented and went across the road and started offering herself to my mate, brilliant

40 years ago The Old Crown was a dive strippers and dirty, full of rough, toilets smelt and had fungus growing on the walls, Boy and Barrel was an old pub Victorian, The pub next to it was a bit rough also. Many of the pubs have closed or been taken over by corporate business chains, Yates was good, Shoulder of Mutton and Rams Revenge also.
One of the blokes who taught me at Uni was part of the team that designed the green public space with the water feature..damn fine job. How much is a quid in USD? No disrespect meant, I love the videos. I'm only curious because in every video you labor over the beer prices when they're all in that 3-5 range. In this video 3.50 vs 4.50 sounds like no real difference at all.
4 British Pounds Sterling (Quid) is as of today, $5.20. He tends to go to less expensive, less touristy spots in the UK where beer prices are good. Last year in London, Cambridge, Bristol, Bath, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Sterling, etc., I tended to pay 6 quid for a beer. Too much. Bizarrely, if you go to pub-chain, Wetherspoons, beer prices are about 20% less (something about beer freshness and sourcing). I wanted to hate Wetherspoons because they are putting old pubs out of business, but I liked the prices and many of them are in grand old buildings.
City Vaults is a great pub so is the Shoulder of Mutton around the corner from there. Shame The Bank and Black Swan shut as well. Lots of good pubs and a few real dives. The Night train is good for live music

You want to see some proper rough places go for a few in Hastings, Herne Bay or if you're feeling brave Chatham. All the decent grimy pubs have been driven out of places like Brighton these days.
@@honestplaces Honestly its all down to people moving down from London, our village went from 2,000 people 25 years ago and shot up to around 6,500 by 2021 census. I dread to think how many it is now they've added nearly a thousand houses on the outskirts of the village. Everyone living here now has a new build they cant afford, a brand new car on tick, a rolex from watches of switzerland also on tick and they are happy to spend way over the odds on a beer in the 'cool pub'. Its mad the number of people you come across who never visited the village before buying a house, they sell so quick they just commit to it online and then come down.

If you don’t believe me go look at what the home office report says. As for the rest of your thinly veiled racist bigoted nonsense. I’ve heard it 1 million times before. It all sounds like GB News headlines, Daily Mail headlines, the Sun newspaper headlines and the daily Telegraph headlines. You’re just a parrot parroting right-wing crap. Most of the British people don’t align with your views and your values or should I say lack there of. Hence why the Tories are getting annihilated and hence why reform uk aren’t doing anywhere as near as well as they would hope to be. Look what happened to UKIP. They never won one seat in parliament, and they disbanded. There are Muslims in the British Armed Forces willing to die for this country. There are Muslims in the NHS and care homes who were on the front line throughout the pandemic, saving British peoples lives. Immigrants contribute billions to the British economy every year. Take immigrants out of the UK and the country would grind to a halt. End of story.

@ddontyy i’ve no idea what the specifics of the award being awarded are. And I’m sure you don’t know either. Anything else to say? I know one thing, Asians and Muslims contributed massively to the local economy of Bradford and to the wider economy of the UK. And as I mentioned earlier, there are Muslims in the British Armed Forces. Willing to die for this country. There are Asians and Muslims in our NHS in our care homes in our public transport system and in lots of other industries, businesses and workplaces. Here’s a fact you can easily check. The Muslim community contributed £31 billion to the British economy in 2023.
Toodle pip
I live in Bradford. You missed out on the castle pub. It was just over the road from the boy n barrel that’s closed, down one of the side streets. Really old impressive building but my god it’s rough as inside! But very cheap beer lol. The rabbit hole is interesting too🤭
I'm from Bradford to me now Bradford is a dead zone,it was once very lively place lots happening,on a Friday night the buses in to Bradford city centre from all directions would be packed of bradfordians going into town for a out night packed solid, but things have changed for the worst, streets are empty.
What made it change
Just found your great channel. 2 and a half squids for a pint of the black stuff? Lucky man. Here in Dublin it's about four english quids at the cheapest in May 2024. Pints of Guiness are always worth it.
I've been going to Bradford for 50 years, great curries. I know all these pubs pretty well. Never had any bother.
I remember when I had to live in Bradford for 2 years, some of the pubs away from the centre are the ones to visit really cheap and proper characters no to keen on the southerners, city vaults takes me back though
I lived and drank in the city for a good few years and like to visit its a top city with friendly down to earth people
Should of gone in the Crown years ago, that would of been an eye opener for ya 👀🤣
Shut now?
@@honestplacesthe Crown sports bar you went in, had strippers on back in the day
Ye olde crown was the pub with the noddy man outside. Back in the day it had all day strippers and a good rock dj. Happy days !
you should go to a place called Whitburn and try pubs there, its in Scotland, very rough area and a lot of decent pubs too.
Going back to scotland soon. Too many places on the list
Boy and barrel was the biggest ronka pub in Bradford. Didn’t know it had shut down.
Bradfords only good for drinking or food festival . Rest of it’s an S hole .
But the bouncers was bit of dheads to me in that pub with the dealer outside you went in . so not been back since cba with bouncers who are bored so pick on people who are from out of town and hope to get a reaction out of you
Next time you come to Bradford got to try Virginia tavern in thrornbury off Leeds rd it's an eye opener mate😂😂👍👍
Shame i missed that
These videos scratch an itch that I didn't know needed scratchin'
🤣🤣🤣 i'll take that
40 years ago The Old Crown was a dive strippers and dirty, full of rough, toilets smelt and had fungus growing on the walls, Boy and Barrel was an old pub Victorian, The pub next to it was a bit rough also. Many of the pubs have closed or been taken over by corporate business chains, Yates was good, Shoulder of Mutton and Rams Revenge also.
Pack horse was next to Boy and Barrel, didnt really like it in there.. Duchess of Kent was my fave
One of the blokes who taught me at Uni was part of the team that designed the green public space with the water feature..damn fine job. Wonderful architecture in Bradford, Leeds has been a vampire over the last 20yrs however..
I’m from Ossett..look out for Ossett Brewery on your travels pal, good pint 👍
Seen ossett brewery about, never been in one of there pubs though. Need too!
Used to be great many years ago, Boy and Barrel and Commercial were well packed on Friday nights, now they're either dead or closed.
If you want it to be livelier then go out in the evening. Not 1 o'clock in the day 👍🏼
Work nights 😭
@@honestplaces ah ok fair enough. Id recommend checkin out the black paddy. Chaps gonna be big. Loads of dingy pubs in Dublin as well btw. Good man 👍🏼
Good stuff lil late to comment...hello from new hampshire
City Vaults is a great pub so is the Shoulder of Mutton around the corner from there. Shame The Bank and Black Swan shut as well. Lots of good pubs and a few real dives. The Night train is good for live music
mazzy star in the bradford sports bar
There is Hope 😉
Fully
Legendary song
Bradford people are lovely, very friendly and down to earth
Buzzing for that kray pub video mate, thank you for the content
Me too. Cheers pal 👍
"That's alright that"
Top quote 🤣
That would be a shrewd idea for some merch with that quote on the front of a shirt.

Bradford was great around punk era
Top video bro-bradford born & bred, you should have visited the Queens, opposite st georges hall..opens at 9.00am🍺🍻🍺
Christ £2.50 for a Guinness. Believe it or not a pub in my village just started charging £7.25 for a fairly shite one. I'd say come down south for some boozers but the prices might scare you off. You want to see some proper rough places go for a few in Hastings, Herne Bay or if you're feeling brave Chatham. All the decent grimy pubs have been driven out of places like Brighton these days.
Same in my village boozer like 7.80 a pint, and they wonder why they're empty.
Mad that! It's so bizzare the price difference. I get places are more expensive but the price jump that much makes no sesne
Ye chatting to locals more is a must, get a feel for the people aswell as the pubs. 👍
Deffo. Gonna try chat to people inside
The Drum Winder isn't dodgy at all. That's where I go drinking before Bradford games. You need to venture a bit further out the centre for the dodgy pubs.
looking forward to the London Pubs I've been in The Blind Beggar
Same mate! 1st time....not looking forward to the prices
@@honestplaces London the home of Guinness which apparently started life as "London Porter" if you get a chance try a Fullers pub in London 🤔
Nice one mate, Guinness £2.50 a pint cant go wrong, that last pub definitely wasnt ropey!
Bangin init. Yeh i know, dunno what that guy was on about
Just watched you and wendell awesome quality im catching up atm keep up the great work Danny 👍😎
John is cool . Never been to Bradford ( I was in East is East ) set there but i filmed my part in W London . Bradford has got some nice architecture! I really like the accent :)
You should come to brigg bud. There's about 12 pubs all within a minute or 2 walking distance. It's a market town
Love the channel! Come to Glasgow and go to some of the pubs around the schemes.
So much to unpack from this one. 'What's over there?' 😀
Odd encounter 🤣
And I said a pint of Guinness in Jaywick was cheap. Bradford wins that one. 👍
Don't think it'll be topped at those prices now!
£2.something - excellent result, what a cracking place!!!
Bangin!
Ring o bells pub on the hil looking over Bradford. Shut now .Great for curry's houses in centre
8.30 As if someone's stuck googly eyes on that poster of Alan Shearer 😆top stuff Bradford
Next time you’re here, like that guy said find the Jackobs Well. I think it’s exactly what you’re looking for. Old style dingy pub.
I'll be sure too!
The Boy & Barrel was all over News last year, massive Weed grow in there. Video of it thats strangely cool too see. Still empty Pint glasses on bar etc. weed just growing round them and up the walls. 😂😂
Used too be my regular like 20 years ago.
Should of tried Sunbridge Mills, best part of Bradford. Like stepping back in time down there, such an eerie but great atmosphere.
Rough pubs are usually interesting because of the characters drinking there, best ask where the pubs are that piss heads like a drink, then go friday early doors, a good sign is if you have to fight your way out . . The Mitre in Derby, The Custard House in Loughborough & The Red House in Coalville were nice and spicy . . all gone now mind . .
Dodgiest 😂😂😂
used to live in Bradford and these pubs do not change and awesome to drink in however u HV to be careful too
Go to Accrington. The Nags head is a bit rough with a lot of lost souls drinking in there
Bradford is a beautiful town completely destroyed by cars and town planners.
by design always
Seen you repping guiness had my first pint yesterday 👌 I know its a required taste but I enjoyed it that much I had another one 🍺 love the videos pal looking forward to the next one
No way! Your pallet will enjoy it more with every pint pal 👍 cheers mate
Just like a draught but refreshing looking forward to the next one 👌
Born & bred! BIG UP THA BRAFORD MANZ 🤙
2.50£ for that Guinness thats unreal mate for that, watching from Rep of Ireland ☘️👍🍺
Madness init. Still doesn't taste as good as what you guys get over there! 😭
To be honest ive lived outside England for years now and Englands roughest pubs are still better than most around the other UK countrys. English people are some of the most down to earth and welcoming there is. If only we gave our selves more credit.
Yeh english pubs are decent. Most run down ones are the best i get ya 👍😂
Another banger!! 🔥
what do you drive? Must be either a mini bus or large goods vehicle, as they're the closest charges to "a tenner", at £9. Passenger cars don't have to pay
