Years ago I believed the Statlers would never be able to replace Lew and continue on and I'm glad to say I was so wrong way back then. Jimmy Fortune is and has always been absolutely wonderful. Love him and love the music he is still producing. Such a talented man.
Pure talent. I have heard him sing this live. He told a story about writing this song, about his son missing him when he was away from home touring with the Statler brothers. And the guilt he felt about being away on the road performing. God Bless.

My aunt died in 2015. She once was a great singer, the years of smoking took her voice eventually took her life. We use to sing along to this so many times, then she'd just listen to me and chime in here and there. I miss her so much.

Great writer and singer, but U have to agree with jbsytes Harold, Phil, Don, and Lew made the Statlers. Jimmy came in when Lew's health began to get bad. Jimmy Is responsible for a lot of the newer Statler songs, but they were well established- another act that got a big push from the master Johnny Cash!

Always loved the Statler Brothers but I fell in love with them all over again when Jimmy joined them. I'm so sorry they retired. I understand it was time for them but they were great with Jimmy. Would have loved to hear them several more years.
