  • Attempted to spray the underside of the house. Giving the clearance and the overall size of the can/ spray gun it made it very difficult.

Spray foam contractor in Texas charge around $2/SF which would be very high so I am applying 2" f material for the walls in an old building walls and fill the cracks with materials used around the doors and windows. You are doing a good job at this stage. Best is to use 2" rigid foam insulation between the floor joist while doing the floor framing. At this stage using the foam board is easier and better choice.

After I had cleaned myself up and came inside I realized we still had 4 more cans. I didn’t videotape that footage but certainly after I was calmed down I continued and the coverage was 💯 better . Not knowing what to expect the first time around got me. I’m not a young buck anymore so crawling around somewhat hurt nowadays

I am 60+ and inspecting crawl spaces is something I do more often then I prefer. Regarding applying this spray foam, was the temperature of the last cans more than first dans? I have found that I need to keep cans warmed to what manufacturers recommend when using in cold weather. Working on insulating an unheated garage this weekend and have to warm up cans if they sit for any length of time between uses.

Inside temp was 72 and outside was probably 48 degrees. I had the cans sitting inside for about 2 hours warming up. On the second round I was spraying where there were no pipes. Spraying around the plumbing made it very difficult for my situation for the first go around. Keep in mind I have 30 inch's from the bottom of the 2x6 joist on the floor to the ground

Thank you for sharing your experience with this product. I have used other forms of canned spray foam. I am considering this product for some rim joists I can't easily access for a "flash & batt" application.

Glad it was helpful! I think once I calmed down and relaxed. I came back into the house and noticed I still had 4 cans left. I must say it went much easier and took my time knowing what to expect.

Did you clean the area or moisten the areas before spraying?
Was there an order once the foam cured?
I seen videos of reports of foaming jobs smelling fishy and making people sick.

The area was pretty clean as its a new building. I did spray with light mist of water. For me it didn't work. It was messy and hard work. Just installed regular insulation in its place

Thanks for the tip,,,that said I need to fill the area of the house that sits on the foundation inside,,was wondering in your opinion would i be successful filling in the cavity area of the bottom plate and rim with this stuff!??

I think anywhere you cant get regular insulation. I just went under the house to inspect and it seem the foam is very brittle like its breaking down. I just added a porch so I had to remove overspray foam and it just fell apart. No really sure what to think otherwise

Do you plan on installing skirting? If so, will it be insulated?

I am definitely planning on adding metal skirting around the base. It will be just regular roof metal . I'm going to wait until spring to do it.
