    Just drove this exact model as a socar (yup, like you said, rental spec) and you're quite spot on everything and was quite maneuverable in Klang. And you should have used the android auto feature provided

    A few years later. I come back check Tucson. Now I understand why Tucson is rare on the road now. I only can see 1 or 2 this batch of Tucson after many years. Goodluck Hyundai

      It's a good car fundamentally, but lacked effort in marketing and poorly specced.

    If I'm not wrong, the 1.6T comes with a DCT hence the electronic brake with Auto Hold Function. The 2.0l should be a normal AT thus with the manual handbrake

    Kon, one of the things with Hyundai Malaysia is they seem to end up planning their products in a closed room and don’t really consider the actual market in Malaysia. They are basically stuck in the early 2000s! When possible they try to use as much local content, if you remember the Pre facelift actually had a local rubbish touchscreen as well. The reason why this particular unit is so base model is mainly because this effectively becomes Sime’s default rent a car SUV option. Those days the Ford Escape used to fill that role, now it is the Tucson.
    There is no reason to purchase this model because how even Proton can produce a better quality and better packaged car. At this price if you can’t give 6 airbags, you must be delusional. And it is not to say this will be more reliable, because the competition is a lot better. Hyundai is hoping they will try to sell some at this bargain basement price but when the bargain basement price can be had with other brands and better packaged products, why would anyone buy a Hyundai there.
    Hyundai Malaysia tend to have these one hit wonders, take the Ioniq and the YF Sonata and the Tucson that came with it. But more often then not they completely ruin an otherwise fundamentally decent product with their cheapening efforts, including but not limited to, the MD Elantra, the Santa Fe (which at the time had a class leading diesel powertrain) and the NF Sonata. Hyundai makes some great cars, they just have a rubbish importer.

    Hi Kon. I like your reviews, frank and accurate.
    There is one little mistake that you sometimes make. It's the pronunciation of "value proposition". You tend to say "value preposition", which doesn't make sense. I'm sure it's just a slip of the tongue, but your videos are so good that this mistake sticks out like a sore thumb. I hope this comment helps you make even better videos. Cheers

    Kon, why would you review the 2.0 when there is a better spec 1.6t? No doubt you did the pre face 1.6t but still why the 2.0?

  • @athlonium
    @athlonium 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hmm yes this is lower spec. But without keyless entry and push start button? Huhu. Susah la. Now proton and perodua already selling their suv. More affordable and more features.

    @ABTguy8686 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    For the same drivetrain, the Sportage is a better car with more safety features. Hyundai is just losing its momentum in Malaysia with the necessity being pulled out. Must quickly bring in Kona with proper safety features to win back some lost sales !!

    • @KonWaiLuen
      @KonWaiLuen  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah. The current crop of cars, despite being well-engineered, are lacking USPs to shout. And they are no longer even cheaper than the competition.
