    Old handbrake - cheap and reliable, love it !
    Old school rotating switch knobs - cheap, easy to understand, doesn't have to stop the car to see what u are doing - love it !
    "New" touchscreens for A/C and volume - dangerous, have to take your eyes of the road, for me its idiotic, but "cheaper" for car brands...

    Hi Paul, nice content as always.
    I own the 1.6 T-GDI Petrol with 6 speed MT, it is for European market though. So many smiles per miles :)
    In terms of equipment it is the 2nd tier out of 5 tiers. Got 17' alu wheels, 8 inch info with Navi, all the safety tech (only no LKAS), dual climate control + rear passenger vents and regular clothed seats.
    Dealership was kind enough to trow for free the original Hyundai floor mats, interior LED lightning and chrome like pads on the side of the doors.
    Bought it last September for around 21k Eur or 33k AUS $.

    Glad that you didn't just say the usual "Oz tune suspension" and copped out. You actually gave an opinion. The ride comfort factor in metro and country conditions are important considerations when buying a car. There are currently only 2 guys doing reviews in Australia who comment on that. May be you would to include these in your routine.

  • @eru6ite
    @eru6ite 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The Tucson was at the top of my shopping list a couple of years ago but I decided to wait for the Kia Seltos. It’s not really an apples-for-apples comparison but Seltos was a much more compelling package for a family of 4 (my wife’s car) with the large interior space, lots of kit thrown-in for the price in Sport+ trim, gorgeous looks, drives nicely with enough oomph. My only complaint with the Seltos is no LEDs unless you get the top spec.

    Paul. Great review as usual.Tuscon is an old favourite of mine, despite never having owned one. I've driven a few. Hyundai's mechanicals, style & reliability is all over Tuscon. Just entering the driver's seat feels like putting on one's old favourite shoes (the kind on i30 way back to the Getz.). It'll never win anything for looks. So, I reckon Tuscon (in its current 'design style') is ready for an update.[ps. from a practical point of view whether it country road or tight city parking, I love this new(ish) addition of 'mud & scrape guards' strewn around the lower body. One bump & you simply replace them rather than 'a dent & paint job'.pps. Re hard plastics. If a child 'chunders' in the back seat, believe me, cleaning up with hard plastic finishes is far easier than the really softies. ppps. Re Hy's paint finish. That's a minus on all recent Hys I've seen. Mazda esp red, the big winner in the paint stakes.]

    In my active x which I bought a month back the LKA works perfectly and at the price range it is value for money and does the job perfectly. It's a total package and value for money. Drives and handles like a charm no issues with overtaking or the air conditioning . None whatsoever. I am not a driving enthusiast not I am a race driver. Trust me for all the normal blokes out there with a family this is perfect and ya when neede I do accelerate without any issues such as in CVT engines which keep drinking and crying till u reach the sweet spot. This one is automatic gears which I love. In short no lagginess of DCT and no droning of CVT. Cheers

    when this gen of Tucson was quite new, I went to one local dealership to book a test drive. the salesguy told me: "we don't do test drives. people buy tucsons like crazy anyway." this left me in awe 😳, despite one should admit, that 25k € for decently equipped SUV is a great deal. ("fun" fact is, that those cars are being assembled just some 350km away from my place.) so I went to Mazda dealership next door to got my hands on CX-5 and right away I felt that design, quality (and price) is on a different level altogether.

    I purchased a 2021 Tucson , one of the safety features i like are the anti collision sensor as well of the 7 air bag on the interior, unfortunately i was in a accident which results in a total loss, believe it or not non of the airbags was deployed and the anti collision sensor in a medium sensitivity was not working as well.
    I would not recommend the brand at all.
    After inspection by Hyundai ingeniers they said that everything works normal lol even with the physical and obvious results.
    Please think twice before to decide to buy those brand.
    Also check the recalls that they have are a lot , and some of them related with safety features.👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

    Amazing what changes are made for different countries. I love the Tuscan I bought in.the US. It's has the 2.4 but the rear cargo roll out cover is an option not standard. The lane-assisist feature only engages over 40mph. Maybe that is the intermittent part you noticed. That goodness for the simple interior. I hate the interior of my Veloster. It looks like something from a transformer movie.

    I have a Tucson Highlander TL3 2.0D. It's been good, more grunt than this model. The only issue I have with this car is the SatNav. Probably 10% of the speed limit information is incorrect. Alot of the roads I drive in Melbourne have had speed limit decreases over the last 10-15 years, and my 2 year old Tucson has map data that predates these changes. You never know when to trust the big display in this car. Alas, last weekend I was pulled over and fined for doing 100 in an 80 zone. Everytime I take my car in for a service I ask for a map update, and they reply, sorry there isn't one. Pull your finger out Hyundai, the info-tainment system is pointless without recent map data.

  • @craigleverenz
    @craigleverenz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The 1.6L turbo with the DCT and AWD is so much more fun than the 2.0L naturally aspirated. The 2.0L is so sluggish, it's all noise when you put your foot down. The most annoying thing with the Tuscon however, is that the Active and Active X are so bland and really lacking in features. It's immediately obvious when you sit in the car and look at that piano black section of nothingness where the climate control readouts would be if you stepped up to the Elite or Highlander. You have to spend a fair bit to start getting decent features. Even LED headlights and tailights are becoming standard among most manufacturers but Hyundai only offers that in the top spec model, which is a whole $23,000 dearer than the base model.
