I agree because I really enjoyed The Man With The Golden Gun as well. Also, I went from skeptical when Daniel Craig was cast to being sad that he's going to be leaving. Nothing James Bond that you feature in a video will ever get old to me, I love those films and love these videos! Outstanding work, Ken; as always!
Hey Ken, i finally decided to buy my first DE razor and completed the first shave yesterday. I used the Rockwell 2C, Proraso Green Soap, a Muhler Badger Brush and Gillette 7 o'clock yellows. Had an amazing shave with no irritations (has to be the first time that this has happened). Thank you for inspiring me to swap from shitty cartridge razors, looking forward to more great shaves!!!
I have a 1964 Gillette Slim - the Goldfinger year, and of course Bond uses one in the film, aboard Goldfinger’s aircraft. His had a homing device hidden in it, but mine doesn’t - I checked! As you may know, Floris No.89 was Ian Fleming’s favoured fragrance, and in the books, Bond wears it too.
Great shave, great James Bond trivia. As an older gentleman, for me, Sean Connery is/was and always will be James Bond. Roger Moore was okay. I was skeptical about Daniel Craig, but he does a great job.
LOVED this video! I'm a sucker for the James Bond themed shaves... and your commentary. In the books, Bond is brutal, not very funny or smart-alecki, like you said. I think Bond should be. He has no scruples to use force, but when he can use his brain, he will. He's always in control... that's why I like Roger Moore, he did that more than Connery. But of course, Connery is the original Bond.
There is one scene in this movie where 007 is in Amsterdam saying "Gutenmorgen bitte" (wich is German not Dutch). And translate as "Goodmorning please". As a Dutch person, it makes me roll my eyes every time. (1971 is my birthyear by the way.)
Excellent shave and video Ken. I first saw this on CBS television when I was about 10 years old and it was awesome. Jimmy Dean played Willard Whyte which was based on Howard Hughs and Charles Gray who was in You Only Live Twice as Mr. Henderson played Blofeld. My favorite scenes was the fight in the beginning between Sean Connery and Joe Robsinon (Peter Franks) in the apartment in Holland and the scene where James Bond was knocked out with an urn and placed in the casket by Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd and nearly cremated alive until Leonard Barr as Shady tree opens the casket.
Hay Ken Love your channel. I just started using a DE razor and now find myself watching TH-cam videos of people shaving 😂 your channel is the most fun and entertaining. Love your style and the shave Den you have put together. I only wish I had your money to buy all the cool stuff you have😁. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience. God bless my friend.
Just started watching the Bond series from the beginning. Goldfinger this weekend. I just got a '70 Black Beauty and look forward to trying it out this weekend and comparing it to my Parker 92R. A #5 or #6 looks to be about equal to the Parker. We'll see how she does.
The Black Beauty gave an awesome shave. Setting 5 is definitely more aggressive than the Parker 92R with an Astra green. An easier BBS shave than with a Feather in the Parker and definitely the closest 3-pass shave I have gotten. Can't say about the burn since I used some Dickinson's witch hazel after. Next shave report will be a '69 Super Speed. Happy Shaving! 💈
Great video, Ken! You sure know your stuff. I enjoy every video. I just ordered everything offered in Coniferous scent from Stirling Soap Company. Man, I love that scent. Keep up the good work.
Ken you have the best shave videos hands down. I know it takes a lot of work making these and adding the special clips. I look forward everyday just to see what you have in store for us wet shavers. Keep up the good work.
Eucris is such a good scent , so is floris 89 I need both in my fragrance collection, Diamonds are Forever is a good one , I love the theme song Shirley Bassey
Hi Ken, how was that Eucris? Would you be able to recommend the best shave cream in a tube to start with that can be lathered with a brush? The budget only allows one right now 😊
Ken, I am using the R41 with Dorco Titan blades. I feel they pretty sharp and smooth but they don't give me a close shave on the fist pass, like you get using for example feather blades. It could also be because I have pretty thick beard hairs. What would be a better blade to use in this razor in your opinion? My beard grows back pretty fast so I have to shave every morning.
Interesting coincidence; I just did a shave with a Super Adjustable from 1970 same day as you. I am still searching for the actor who resembles your father. So, that update is yet to arrive.
For me, my favorite James Bond evil villain sidekick was Jaws. I grew up watching Roger Moore but also watched the classics with my stepfather and have to say Sean Connery is my favorite. Do not care for Timothy Dalton or Pierce Brosnan although Pierce wasn't too bad. But Daniel Craig brought 007 back to life
Good morning buddy it’s awesome to see you today Always loved James Bond movies with Sean Connery He has always been my favorite actor of all of them such a classy gentleman A man that I’ve always wanted to follow Mr. James bond
Hey Ken, another great shave and what an intriguing video 🔫 😎 I have a request for a shave video. Would you willing to review a shave with an ordinary blade like Astra Superior Platinum or Dorco ST-301 on its fourth or fifth use? I would like to find out about the effectiveness/ value ratio on blades. I always watch you using a new or a blade on its second use. They are mostly very effective. I’m not sure, how often to use a blade with good results. I think after three uses one should get a new one. Thanks!
@@kensurfs looks like they really absorb it quick. My boars need 5-10 minutes, but than they are really soft! Thanks for the video and have a great Sunday!
The scene where Bond was nearly cremated and then the lid just suddenly opens and he's fine confused me a bit but Diamonds Are Forever was an awesome Bond entry. Las Vegas of course was the perfect backdrop.
Great video Ken.. Seen u mentioned the playboy clubs.. If u have Amazon Prime video there's a excellent 10 episode show about hugh Hefner and the magazine /clubs called American playboy.. Have a good weekend! Cheers!
You've inspired me to create my own Bond themed shaving sets haha... I can't afford half the stuff they use in the films but I'll get there someday. 😄 On another note, the Bond film reviews seem to greatly vary from author to author.. From Russia with Love seems to be one of those films that ranges from "best" to "worst" depending on who you're asking but it's definitely a personal favorite of mine! Same with Diamonds are Forever and The Man with The Golden Gun. I'm a sucker for the classics, though.
yes i saw i loove James Bond with Sean Connery only Craig is okay , also Pierce so so, the other Roger Moore , Lazenby hate those movies great shave as always
Great video Ken. Just watched Becoming Bond last night. I was wondering have you every tried products from The Art of Shaving? I received the sandalwood set as a gift and have really enjoyed it so far.
Hi! I viewed “Becoming Bond” a few days ago, it’s about George Lazenby and his history on how he faked his way to the role. If you haven’t seen it I highly recommend it. But something completely different, do you know why your family moved to America?
Love your take on the Bond films. My favorites were Thunderball and From Russia with Love. When I was a kid we vacationed in London and we stayed in a nice hotel (Hilton I think) that was adjacent to the Playboy Club. As an 11 year old I thought that was pretty cool. Enjoy your channel.
You are clearly a James Bond fan. I can't believe that you've never tried Eucris before. Ian Fleming mentions this sent in his books. He mentions that James Bond uses this. And Eucris is a scent developed by Geo F. Trumper's. And since Trumper is an old establishment in London. I do believe that is the company he was referring to. Even though he didn't mention it by name.
Hey Ken, who do you think should be the next Bond after Craig? I think Tom Hiddleston will do if he beefs up a little. Michael Fassbender would also be a contender in my opinion.
Hi Ken- Great 007 tribute shave; thank you! I thought that Diamonds Are Forever was great and Sean Connery’s one liners and quips were priceless- the off-handed remark....”so long as the collars and cuffs match....” to Jill St. John was the best of all. Hope you are having a great weekend and all the best, Ken!
Great video Ken. If/when you decide to use a straight razor you should do it for a 007 Skyfall shave. I believe they used a DOVO if memory serves right.
