  • I just installed a Boss BV9364RC double DIN radio in our 01 DGC EX. It took me about 15 hrs. over and over a weeks time to complete the install. Most of that time was costume fitting the radio with the OEM dash bezel. I had to cut out pieces from the OEM dash bezel so the new radio would fit. Here are some of the items I used.
    1) Dash kit - www.sonicelectronix.com./item_135557_Metra-95-6539.html
    2) Radio - www.sonicelectronix.com./item_106971_Boss-BVB9364RC-with-Free-Backup-Camera.html
    3) Dremel Rotary Tool - www.homedepot.com/p/Dremel-20...
It was very time consuming having to cut away parts of the inner dash, just to make the radio fit.In the end, It turned out looking better then I thought.

Thanks. I really try to give you all as much info. as I can, so you can see the issues you might run into and how to solve them. I have realized that most videos are really good and short, but lacking the actual process from start to finish.

Why did you not use the new bezel? Would have looked so much better in my opinion. Im doing this mod very shortly and i used cheap vinyl wrap for the texture. Thanks for the video though i might make one on my progress on my 2003 Chrysler Grand Voyager

The replacement bezel had a very small shallow storage area at the bottom, which I didn't like. Also, I couldn't remove my custom dash kit off the OEM bezel, which cost more than the radio.

@@Pk3_Garage ok fair enough. I hope my bezel will fit. Im worried about the air outlets at the top they dont look 100% the same

Do a test fit first before you do any kind of work. This way if it doesn't fit you have not modified anything.

I was stressing unecessarely the air vents and everything fits perfectly. But yes the bottom slot is annoying wonder if i can cut that out on the new bezel and use the original deeper storage slot 😏. To be continued, thx for the guide and advice. Ps the little hole underneith the airvents is for a passenger airbag light where in some countries you can switch the airbag off. Know this because my bezel came with the sticker to put in that lowered little grove

@@Nordic80 _ sorry for not replying to you. (I didn't realize you posted a comment ). I'm glade the bezel fit. I'm sure your done with this project already, so no need for me to give a response. I will say though, our van didn't have a passenger side air bag light. How did everything turn out?

I wear work boots and am always very careful when working. Most things we all do can be dangerous, but being knowledgeable of those dangers and working safely will keep you safe.

Use the brackets from the factory radio

Not sure what brackets you're referring too. The stock radio didn't have any.

I don’t get it. You’re having all these problems by having to cut stuff out, but there’s other customers that used the exact same Metra dash kit and they didn’t have to do any cutting. I’m about to order the dash kit myself. I already ordered the Pioneer AVH-2500NEX. I’ll let you all know how it goes.

I can't speak for others, but the new radio wouldn't fit all the way back in the dashboard or flush with it, w/o the modifications.

I absolutely had to cut out some of that plastic cross member in the opening of my 2005 Grand Caravan. I also had to slightly modify the Metra bezel kit in order to get the new head unit to fit properly.

I’ve had to do a lot of cutting inside of there, more than I thought. But my setup is complete and I have a nice clean flush finish.

boss is a lower end item, but its still not nice to be mean to people like that. as long as you like it who gives a fuck what other people think. the have aftermarket carbon fiber dash kits that look way cool for 40 bucks.
