    I like how you do repairs, you are honest.i have to perform this on a Range Rover Evoque shortly.. my first Evoque..So quite nervous. I was going to purchase all the timing tools, but they are quite expensive for a once-off job. i might tackle it your way.. Thanks for great information

    I'm just in the middle of doing this on a mates Jag E pace AWD auto. He had the turbo replaced a while back and then decide to sell it. Sods law and his chain started rattling so he asked me if i'd take it on. Never done one before but we got all the tools and it's gone quite well. Just in the process of putting the gearbox back in now. I'm having to do it on axel stands, no ramp on his drive which makes it fun🙃

    I had one of these cars, but I was told by a local garage that the chain was suspect, so I decided to sell it. I got a little bit confused with your marking of the components, but good job done in the end. It would have been a good idea to change the little plastic bung on the back of the engine if it hadn't been changed as they tend to leak.

      Hi Matthew, it is a bit foolhardy of me doing these jobs without the correct locking tools. But I usually try my first one without the locking kit just to achieve or fail. If I fail I will need to purchase them before continuing and if I mark as much as possible I generally achieve the desired result, hence marking as much as possible. I find it teaching me something that I didn’t know beforehand, I have since bought the locking kit and will most likely use it on the next one 😉👍👍

    If ye get any customers in with Navarra chassis issues, point them my way - 3 done this week alone, they're starting to be auto-pilot repairs at this stage & because the CVRT crowd are now wary of them, they almost all need an engineers report for the re-test - which every one we've done has passed no issue. Hello, Peter, I also have a Jaguar xe 2017, I am going to change the distribution kit. I followed your post with interest. I see that you changed this kit without removing the engine from the car, here in Romania they told me that it can only be changed with the engine removed from the car. are the spare parts you used genuine jaguar? Can you point me to a website where you bought them? Thank you

    you're correct someone has replaced the chains previously. The idler you replaced already had the vibration, dampening material added to it that didn't come out until after 2019. unfortunately, you used aftermarket chains that probably didn't meet the new specifications from JLR, that improved the strength so they wouldn't fail again. everything including the fuel injection pump sprocket has been superseded.

    • @kennedysgarage3281
      @kennedysgarage3281  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hopefully the aftermarket parts are good enough to last 🤞🤞
      JLR specifications didn’t work on the original design so who’s to say that the same thing won’t happen with the newer specs. All in all it really is a flimsy set up.
      I also have a discovery in and the VVT cam pulley assembly bolts just came loose. Is that a common occurrence??

    • @JustMe-Dude
      @JustMe-Dude 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @kennedysgarage3281
      yes it was, with a tsb on file. tsb on the injection pump sprocket as well. sprocket was made in China and would split in half.
      willing to bet the chains were too, and then updated with a harder chain. when you change the VVT sprocket. The mounting bolt must also be replaced.
