My heart goes out to you. I have just had the same problem with a Jaguar XE. I had the engine bored out to +.5 mm and fitted oversized pistons. I did 60 miles and seized solid. Getting the torque converter of is a real task. I have not got the car back on the road yet.
@@Escygt No, not really. the crankshaft had picked up on one of the big end bearings and sheared off the big end cap. The carnage was quite impressive. I bought a used engine from Sheffield ,which I bought with a supposed failed timing chain. This was not the case. The pistons had burned/melted in cylinders 2 and 3. Timing chain was perfect. Its back in the car and I will try to get it going next week. I am not sure why these engines are so unreliable.
Fantastic work to strip down and refit the new engine. Sounds fine to me. I have an XF 260 180 hp. Sounds the same. You must be very proud of yourself. Well done!

I just had the engine replaced in mine with a new one from Jag - they paid for it. The second turbo destroyed itself at 65k miles, the first turbo had grenaded at 54k miles... I got it back a week ago, it's now got a 1 year warranty on the engine, but I will be selling it well before then....
I really hope you will keep the vehicle and upload new videos (positive, in the sense that the vehicle is in good shape and serves you well). These videos are nice to watch. Thank you!
Hey, nice to see you got it sorted in the end hope you get to keep and enjoy it. Its a shame as you put it, the car is great in any other way. I got a XF with the same engine, got it at 97k miles and at 123k I`ve changed the timing chain as I was worried it will go. Got it replaced with the newer version but after 3k miles later I started hearing a knock. If my engine fails I would like to replace it as the car its amazing.
