    Susan. Great video on tiny painting's. I haven't painted in quite a while, lots of things going on, sometimes I feel like I've lost my touch. Going to order some colorfix paper and play around on some regular paper till my order comes. Have a wonderful day 🌄

      How wonderful! Which one was your photo? I try so hard to follow the rules of PMP and I don’t think they want me mentioning the photographers names, but I always give a link so people can find them from my PMP profile. How fun and I’m so glad you shared that with me.

    Very nice! Wish you would describe what colours you are using though. E.g. a little written pop-up each time you change the pastel you are using. Being red/green colour blind I struggle to work out what you are using a great deal of the time.

    I was wondering, what pastels would you recommend for beginner. My style is kinda like Paul Cezanne or Gauguin . Thats what my daughter says. I like doing still life. I’m having trouble with landscapes . I love landscapes . Ok thanks for your TH-cam I’m glad I found it.

    • @monetcafe
      @monetcafe  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment, and I really need to make a video on Beginner recommendations. I always recommend buying half-stick sets when possible (because you get twice the colors for your money). I'm not sure what your budget is, but one of my favorite half-stick sets with an awesome assortment of colors and values is Unison 120 Half Stick set. It's around $320, but they have smaller sets available too. Unison is a great pastel because they are soft, but not too soft. I'll send you a link and you can check the different sets from Dakota Pastel... (I love this company because they have just about anything you can order having to do with pastel painting). Have fun! www.dakotapastels.com/product/unison-120-half-assorted?cat=268&idsku=10631

  • @graciousmom4127
    @graciousmom4127 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Super lovet! What can I use if I don't have the acrylic ink, can I use the regular acrylic or watercolour for underpainting? Also, I have only lmtd colours of my soft pastels, can I use oil pastels, instead?

    • @monetcafe
      @monetcafe  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there.... if you don't have acrylic ink, you can tone your surface (as long as it's a water-friendly surface) with watercolor or a light coat of acrylic paint. You can even use pastel that you can use to lightly tone the paper and then use a brush to wet with water or alcohol. You could also simply blend the pastel layer by using a paper towel to create a nice tone prior to painting. There's lots of options. Yay!

    Susan have you ever used pan pastel? What did you think of it? I have quite a few colors and they are beautiful to lay down as under paintings.

    • @monetcafe
      @monetcafe  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love pan pastels but I often forget to use them. And yes, my typical strategy with them is to create underpaintings.

    etant française je ne saisis pas toutes vos videos !!! avec quoi diluez vous le pastel quand vous le mouillez ??eau ,alccol ?white spirit ?

    • @SirPrancelot1
      @SirPrancelot1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      9.15 and 12.05: The liquids shown here are acrylic ink by Daler Rowney. I don't think she dilutes the pastel with them. She puts the ink on the paper and then puts the pastel on top of the ink. The pigment in the bowl at 12.20 is just the acrylic ink. I hope you understand this! I think I understand your question but my French is not good so have replied in English.
