      Douglas I'm curious about the rail line when leaving the port. Is that line a spur or do you have to coordinate super loads crossing the rail line with train movement?

    • @luckybananaheavyhaul3407
      @luckybananaheavyhaul3407  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @Dave-0523 we do not coordinate with any rail lines on this route. I’m not saying it’s a bad idea… but there are fees for that so we don’t

    I really enjoy your videos! On this video you got routed off I-81. I am not sure what construction is going between Cortland and Tully but between Tully and where you cleared the construction on Route 81, there was no need for any of those roads and streets to be used. You would have been fine on 81 all the way up. When you got off Taft Road to 81 North , you were 3 blocks from my home. Now I know that you have to follow the routes you were given but this one did you no favors and I was very surprised by the routing. Keep up the great work and I love the puppy!

    This looked like a lovely trip! Beautiful country, not too much traffic in the small roads, and escorts who know what's up and make your life easier! Also an assortment of wires to keep you on your toes, and Fred for head scratches and company :3 Although I'm not sure if you have any time to appreciate the landscape, staring out the window is probably not what you're worried about as a commercial driver, much less in a big rig.

I also follow FSC trucking, and if you people want another really great trucking feed, try Trucking Together, a husband and wife truck team. They are good friends with FSC. It is real life trucking, and husband Martin has a lot of DIY truck maintenance videos, even one where he rebuilt a Cummins for his Pete in his driveway, out of the truck. Keep up the good work, Doug, and look forward to the next post! ☺

I have an Acer in the back garden, and its always green, then all of a sudden, virtually over a week, maybe two, the leaves turn to a gorgeous red colour. Ya know, I just sat down to take a quick look at what you were up to with the 389 and that was two and a half hours ago. I'm curious to know what all the gauges are for on the dash. Maybe you could do a video on what makes that tractor tick. That would be nice.

    • @clutchitup9861
      @clutchitup9861 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Just about all mechanical components you could think of.
      Engine, coolant, oil, transmission, exhaust, both rear end temps.
      Yes, temps for all those different parts.
      Others are your usual boost pressure gauge for turbo, volt gauge, oil pressure, speedometer, tachometer, maybe a load gauge for drives (shows how much weight is on back of truck)
      More are air pressure gauges, primary and secondary. There also could be one that shows how much pressure is going to brakes when pressing in brake pedal.
      Some trucks have a gauge that shows if your fuel filters are clogged up or not as well as a gauge that shows the same for your air filter.
      And some others that I'm forgetting to mention.

    • @rickarmstrong4704
      @rickarmstrong4704 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I will take a stab at an answer, several reasons, the St Lawrence River, the immense size of this ship, perhaps the cranes at the port, also the port at Quebec is another 2500 or so km from the Port at new Jersey, perhaps Groupe Bellemare made an offer Montreal could not refuse? as well We would not have another Great road trip from Lucky Banana : ) probably the best reason one could think of! I would ask also why not on rails? the Toronto subway cars arrived from Thunder Bay by truck too another good question in itself Yes? Cheers! from Ontario

      @mikeklein318 these trailers are specially designed to carry the train in the exact same spot. The weights balance every time.

    Doug, that port is massive. You must have burnt your hours for that just trying to get out of there.😜 question: there must be a real experienced team building the route plans for you guys to haul these loads. How much lead time does it take to build the plan and does anyone check the route selected will actually work when your supposed to be traveling through it? Hope I’m clear on the question I.e. one thing to plot a route on a map but another to validate that route is viable for the load your carrying.

    • @luckybananaheavyhaul3407
      @luckybananaheavyhaul3407  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes for loads of this size a surveyor is sent to verify the route $$$

    Me again. 😅 Would the time taken to divert because of construction come out to about the same amount of time it would take to go through the construction zones?

    • @luckybananaheavyhaul3407
      @luckybananaheavyhaul3407  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s not about saving time. It’s about safety. And sometimes if there is a lane closure, the wide load just doesn’t physically fit through the construction zone.

    Great video Doug. What kind of engine break are you using on this Pete? I'm used to hearing the louder "Jakes" without mufflers but yours is much quieter.

    Unloading a container ship takes less time than one might suppose. Regardless of the number of “cans” there are strict time limits and I’ve seen a couple completely emptied in 48 hours.

    I'm curious Douglas. Do you ever get stopped questioning your permitting and verifying your routing? I know state guys have access to permitted movements.

    • @luckybananaheavyhaul3407

      Usually we get questioned by county police who scratch their head about why the state routed us through their little town
