I think I heard Alex say that he's been an operator for two years. If that's the case, he must be a VERY fast learner to have developed all the skills that we see in every video.
Alex is a literal genius! It's a very rare individual who can go as far as he has in such a short time! Mega Kudos for Alex! And Josh is no slouch either!
cdl drivers are a dime a dozen, jobs like this eithe ryou learn it in 2-3 months from starting or ya should move on to a different line of trucking work. cause either ya got it, had a bad trainer or you dont got it. obviously alex gots it.
@@thebeardedtuckfardo6168 This is nothing like normal CDL driving, The amount of knowledge and skill that goes into operating wreckers, especially rotators and most definitely to the scale that these guys do is a lot higher than the skill required to drive other CDL trucks... It's just like with cranes, the CDL gets you to and from the job but past that it's far more demanding.
Alex is so good at managing these complicated cases. He just accommodates everything that people ask of him with out any fuss and gets the work done safely.
Excellent job Alex and Ricardo and of course all the emergency agencies/people involved !!! And thanks again for another nice breakdown from Alex. Keep 'em coming, Josh !!! 😎😎😎
did i hear alex say he had only been operating for only two years ? i have seen many of his videos and my guess would be he has been operating for 10 to 15 years ......expressing my great repect and admiration for the work that he does !
It sounds stupid, but I thought I was smelling that smoke. What a mess. Alex and Recardo did a great job. Recardo is a climber just like Alex. A great video. Surprised that they were able to move the truck with the contents smoldering, but fire knows best. Thanks for the preview..
This job ended up being a little more difficult then normal, because the garbage truck was still burning on fire, everything was too hot to use spreader bar and straps, I agree, they would have just melted. Chain was the only was to get this job done safely, even Jose would agree lol. But the added difficulty of the load still smoldering, fire couldn't get it out on the interstate, so having to pull off into the nearby town, to give it the really good what for, fire did an amazing job and I commend them! I think the fire guy carrying the ladder at the end was having a bit of fun, he was really emphasizing it lol. Another great breakdown from Alex too!
Along with weight training, Alex was tempered in raw sewage juice today. He's now impervious to any number of new infectious diseases out there. The loyality to service Alex provides us is outstanding! 😂😊
Good job, Alex & Ricardo. You guys helped resolve a very dangerous & confusing incident, in a short amount of time, to everyone's expectations. Who could ask for more.
Boy things have changed. In the 70’ s worked as a mechanic for a rubbish company. Had a truck burn. Two tow trucks hauled it to the yard. One truck drove forward and one truck drove backwards. They hauled it skimming the road so it wouldn’t roll over.😮
Well done Alex and Ricardo. Excellent coordination with Fire and other agencies. Darn! I was smelling that smoke, I've worked on similar jobs as a Fire-fighter downunder in Australia 🇦🇺
Just a shoutout to Ricardo and the whole team at Pepe's! I watch other tow videos and I see guys standing around waiting for somebody to tell them what to do. That never happens at Pepe's those guys are on from the time they get there until it's done! The exception is when they have to wait for officials to clear lanes or put out fires or hazmat for them to go at it. Mega kudos to Pepe's!
Great job Richardo & The Professor(Alex). Alex you make it look so smooth, please stay with Peppe for a long time as you are one of the STAR in this company. Watching from Calgary, Canada
I was thinking lithium batteries as well. They were probably rolling down the freeway with the wind stoking a smoldering fire and by the time someone flagged them down (or maybe there is a fire/heat sensor in the box) and they pulled over the fire had spread through the load allowing the box to get hot enough to melt a gas line or cause the tanks to vent. The CNG fire was probably a secondary effect of the fire in the box. The tanks are designed to vent if they get too hot in order to prevent an explosion and contain the damage to burning down the truck instead of sending shrapnel flying hundreds of feet.
I’d be worrying about toxic smoke, burning plastics and garbage produces some really nasty toxins and carcinogens. Even if you’re not directly in the smoke but can smell it means you’re potentially being exposed unless there is a strong wind and you’re upstream of it.
Alex, Big Flipper and Pepe's Towing rocks it again. Ya know I was thinking about all the times when I watch cooking show or even ads (not that many) and see very delicious looking food and wonder what it smells like and then I see this cooking show episode and I am glad that the Internet does not have smell transmission.
If this happened in Europe they'd probly shut down all lanes in both directions for 3 days but definitely not around LA "you got til 4 o'clock 5 o'clock loaded and gone got it?" Lol
Oh, Alex, you absolutely made a bunch of firefighters days - they got to cut and destroy to their hearts delight with little danger and no loss of life. That's nirvana for these guys, and very rare outside of training.
What's up Alex and side kick, we'll its a burning Job, fire is not going down without a Fight, But the man Alex always takes care of business. PEACE OUT
What an interesting and informative video. It’s hard to imagine that a fire can take so long to put out. The amount of water they had to use was crazy and that they had to cut into the container in several different areas to get to the “hot spots” amazed me. Very impressive video and watching the guys work together like they were reading each others minds was fantastic. Great job all around.
Very good vid. Given how long the rotator truck is, I wonder why I don't see more cabover heavy rescue trucks like in Europe. The standard Peter def looks cooler. Maybe that's reason enough.
Great job Alex and Ricardo! Nasty job! Josh, your editing is really good, and you did a lot! Something different than the OG'S usually you get. Happy Thanksgiving to Pepe's!❤❤❤
Difficult job well done, story told in a great video. Thank goodness there was no need to disconnect the drive line. Your clothing and gloves probably went into the trash, soaked with the smell of wet burning trash and tires. One source of ignition destroyed a very expensive truck, triggered a very expensive recovery. Now we see why trash service is so expensive (not to mention the tipping fees.)
Fire looked like voting bin fires . This has geometry involved . Like billiards or pool ,and rigging . Good job . Water is 8 .33 lbs per gal how much dissolved mineral is in water after processing . Seawater is heavier and salt lake is heaviest with dissolved salt . I use these values each day . Alex I enjoy the challenges . Blowing up battery’s n burning trash trucks . A variety!
Another job well done on a "Hot" job. Rather than the fire department picking up loads of water to then move onto the freeway; take the burning trash to the hydrant so it can really be doused.
After watching this one it’s time Pepe’s came out with a series of action figures and vehicles. climbing on burning garbage trucks to save the city… endless possibilities and figures to inspire and entertain kids and adults. Recover excavators, pull forklifts from garages…..collect the whole set.

@@wesleypulkka7447I'm sure that Josh spent a lot of time working with Alex in training him. Those 2 together make quite a team. 😊😊😊
He’s got good common sense , and he was a mechanic so he knows how to trouble shoot problems put it together and you get impressive work!!

Me too!! Matter of fact, my jacket still smells Smokey!!🔥🔥🔥
Same trash mixed with that nasty burning smell plus the burnt tires I could only imagine 😂
Thanks 😊
Great job Ricardo! Super professional 😅 we should give you more credit
Alex was born to be a Rotator Operator. I admire the dedication, professionalism, determination, knowledge, accuracy, and commentary.
Alex and Ricardo awesome job a very long day! Thanks for sharing! Kevin
Ricardo is a team player and Alex is point. Great team work. Awesome video.
Thanks 😊
Driver Did The Right Thing, Alex Went Above and Beyond as well as Ricardo! this was Text book old School Recovery Folks
Good Job ALEAX and Richardo and Fire Department

that is a really serious ladder the way it's built . super strong
It is a right off so chains won't matter now also.
I can just see Jose "reminding" Josh "See? I told you chains were better!"

That was a great video with a lot of people in volved. Good job Alex and Carlos and all the fire crews.
I love how you guys care for your gear like firemen do. Everything is put back with care and kept organized. 😊
Great video Joshua ❤ love the thumbnail and wow what a call 😅
Great job Alex, That looks like it could have been a much bigger mess than it already was. Keep it up man

Exemplary work by all parties. Alex and Ricardo were absolutely outstanding👏👏👏

You guys must love doing this I know I would.

Good followup comments. You guys remain calm and get your job done. Very professional operation.
You guys are awesome! You care about the job. You care about your guys safety. And you’re darn smart.
WOW! Fire hot enough to melt aluminum rims on tire. That's 1221° f My guess lithum batteries in trash? Stay safe gentlemen.
The CNG fuel tanks blew. Must have been one hell of a flamethrower while they were venting. 😮

The smoke from this would've been toxic, surprised they were not wearing masks.
Another difficult and dirty job but dealt with totally professionally. Well done!,,

Very indicative of a fire involving lots of plastics. That stuff burns long and burns intensely hot.
Alex an Recardo stayin Cool under Fire 🔥…… Pun intended LOL 😂 Great job fellas
I love what you are doing mat and I love you trucks
Great work to all involved
Great job you guys. I know what you do is very demanding, dangerous, however I still envy you. Be careful and stay safe. Love the videos. 👍
Nice work👍💪, Greetings from Aruba🇦🇼👋👋
Talk about a hot video, great job guys as usual !!
'How long will it take? 3-4 hours?"... Alex " Please we are PEPE..1 hour max.." 😂
Amazing work together.

And this is why we don't throw batteries in the trash.
I was in the traffic! I had finished early and thought I was going to be home ( Bakersfield ) by 4pm… nope got home at regular hours 6pm 😂
Isn't that the way it goes
I guess without Pepe's you might not have seen home before midnight!
