I really enjoyed this video, especially the level of excitement you brought along.
Believer is also a great choice bc the energy, the lyrics and his voice inflections just paint a perfect picture, and the part where he goes "im up in this..." does not only keep it radio friendly but also leaves the B-word to be screamed by the listener. He has a couple songs where he does this.
I think as far as lyrics go, from D6 to C5, over funeral to NC3 and everything i have left out in between shows his best form... Which does not necessarily translated to the best music in his catalogue.
Its so hard to put your finger on whats maakes his expression so unique because he its all over the place. But i guess thats what i like so much. He doesnt try to be meaningful or deep, it just happens.
Another thing thats great is that he can always take it to a direction you dont expect.
Anyway i just wanted to leave you a comment and write a couple of words because weezy is somebody i pretty much enjoy on my own for the most part, i am a white dude from germany approaching my 40's 😊

yes yes YES to all of this!
"im up in this . . . " is my favorite part of that song haha. He is such a true entertainer and giving his listeners these moments to get in on the song with him is love.
And I agree about the effortlessness in his messages - he is him. After listening to him for a while however you get a pretty good idea of who he is as an artist while still not being able to fully say what that is. How he can be so overwhelming and elusive at the same time fascinates me. I think a lot of it has to do with him not trying. He's just vibing lol. I also think he's best enjoyed in volume. The more Wayne the better!
And yes he can take it anywhere and all the different go hard too! He does it all at the highest level possible for him. Thanks so much for your comment! I can go on about rap artist all day. I think the fact that you enjoy him as a white dude from Germany approaching your 40s is just another example of how much he reaches people. I went to his concert once and I couldn't believe how many different kinds of people I saw - it's a beautiful thing.

First I apologize for taking so such a long time to answer... Sorry 4 the wait, I'm sorry 4 the wait....
Thanks for your reply, fully agreed yet again.
A lot of other videos or commentary in general in regards to Wayne is not very relatable to me, bc they focus on things that I don't really care about or even consider to be goofier aspects of the Goat
Something I thougt about is, that it makes sense to compare him to Nicolas Cage, who has great performance in great movies, but also some wtf-movies that are silly as hell and kind of strange decisions for an actor of his status in his hay days. But he also gives some unique performances in some overall rather bad movies but you can't really blame him for the goofy shit because it appears to me, that it comes frome the same place as the great stuff.
I'm not even a big Nic Cage fan, but it crossed my mind a couple of times already when I stumbled across a movie of his🤷‍♂️
Also what I wanted to ask you, how do you feel about the ugly parts in his lyrics... meaning: the lyrics sometimes reach a point of graphicness where even I go "cmon Wayne I'm not trying to hear some nasty sh!t like that!?" how do you feel about that, especially as a well put together woman?
I mean sometimes the uglyness has some power to it that adds some roughness which is dope, in hip hop.
Examples would be commes de garçon, Peggy Bundy or Low Down. Choosing those because these are kind of on the edge for me. Some of the things he says in those song are rather disgusting and would just not fly in a context outside of rap. But also they have some great parts that make up for that. I hope I could describe what I'm saying in a way that at least makes a little bit of sense 😂
Thank you once again and I hope your well 😊

@@aleximalexi3225 Hello friend! That's a great question and I think this type of rawness is partly the reason it took so long for me to resonate with his music. As a younger adult, I lacked the life experience necessary to be able to appreciate different perspectives. I vibe with the artistry more than the actual words, so I love it's "there-ness" if that makes sense. Wayne is not afraid to take chances and push the boundaries of what's acceptable to do/say - it's no surprise that these specific songs are on an album titled no ceilings. He has a special way of personifying his ideals through bars and I LOVE IT! What I like about it the most is that none of it is sloppy, he's not just being gross to be gross, he really is pushing the line in a real way. He doesn't do it for attention, he just tries to be as "him" as possible. And he's always saying this in his songs - a tone that suggest that he is a man that drives at full speed in his own lane.
As a person in this world with friends and family and relationships I think the bars are absolutely gross haha, but as a listener and a fan of Wayne the artist I don't think he would be him if that wasn't a part of it.
I like the Nic Cage comparison and they are similar in the way they make these decisions that seem kinda fringe. That foul part of Wayne comes from the same place as the pristine and morally wise part of Wayne. What makes Wayne Wayne is that he's not afraid to embrace that side and express that part of him as if it were just as valuable.
If you compare it to say Eminem, who has the Slim Shady ugly side, Em is tormented by himself. Yes he expresses Slim and most people love Slim music (based on the success he's had with Slim Shady), but Em himself has somewhat of a struggle with his shadow self and struggles to accept it. Weezy is the opposite lol. He is all the bad things and all the good things and puts them both out with the same level of esteem. In fact, I think he is extra gross as another way to be overwhelming, so this cringe side of him benefits him as an artist and tightens his fanbase. It's great stuff.
Now this is just his music, I'm sure just like any other human it's not as easy as writing some bars and you are on your way freedom and peace, and sometimes Wayne admits to these normal struggles of self esteem (Open Letter is a good example of this). As an artist though, he is a GIANT. Just always there with whatever is on his mind and totally unashamed. I wrote you a book haha. Love chatting with Weezy fans.

Yeah I will listen to other great artist and think to myself "man this guy is good he might be the goat"
Then I go listen to Wayne and my ears are instantly like "Nope. Not even close."

Another good band that has clever word play is bloodhound gang, but Wayne is the best to ever do it. I have a lot of his music memorized and I still notice new puzzles in old songs. I tried explaingvthe lasagna bar when it came out an no one got it.. for ten years. True genius.

I'll have to check bloodhound gang out. Same here about new puzzles to old songs. He's good for a random aha moment.
