So awesome. Thank You so much for the support. You'll love the Jetboil. Its a great piece of gear. Use the link and it'll help support the channel a little bit so I can keep creating these videos. www.amazon.com/s?k=jetboil&crid=16BYE08ZELIQ4&sprefix=jetboil%2Caps%2C120&ref=nb_sb_noss_1
Its next to impossible to bend the igniter tip but ok. Glad you've had luck but I know of several people that have had the same problem I have. Keep a lighter or fire starter with you at all times regardless would be my take away.
If you pack it properly by putting the folding stand centered in the burner when placing it in the canister greatly reduces the probability of the igniter getting knocked out of wack.
Of course you can bend it it's a bit of wire. If it's bent down too close to the burner it won't work or if it's bent too far away from the burner it also won't work
Mine malfunctioned after a few uses, I bent the wire back very carefully and it works like a charm now. Not a bad idea to have a lighter, especially in the wilderness!
I like the powdered Milk idea. I'm not big on cream in my coffee but most people are so thats a great suggestion. I haven't come across coffee in bags. I'll look into that. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Great video! Really enjoyed watching it and got a lot from it. I've just recently purchased both the Jetboil Flash and the plunger accessory. Really disheartening to hear that the sparker stops working after; a while. I figured for a premium brand that these would last.
A lot of people don't have any problems with it. I had a comment that mentioned it may have to do with the way I store it. I'm not sure. In general, you'll love it. Its very effective. Its always best to carry a lighter as a backup anyway. Thanks for watching and commenting Steve.
I noticed you said your wife picked out that coffee sweetener. Wouldn’t it be nice if she was there in the woods sharing a cup of coffee with you also. That might make the video more heartwarming. ❤
Never had an igniter go bad on any of my jetboils. First of all put the container on FIRST!!!!! GAS BUILDUP UNDER THE CONTAINER INSURES INSTANT LIGHTING! I have five or six and I've had some of them for twenty years and they ALL WORK! SOLID HIGH QUALITY IGNITER!
So everyone's just making it up I guess? Whatever man. Just because something hasn't happened to you, doesn't mean its not a real problem. Jetboil the company was formed in 2001. They didn't release their first stove until 2003. Hard to believe you've been using their products for almost 10 years BEFORE they were created. Don't write off what people say simply because you don't agree.
99% of the igniter failures is the wire moving out of alignment. Just gentle push it back. If the orange support is used correctly when storing, it can prevent this.
Just a note on the jetboil ignition, the burner seems to be assembled with lots of plastic. The heat caused my wiring to lose its insulation. Pretty sure that was the cause of my failure. I caused it by trying to put a pan on my burner within a pot support. But still. I’ve heard of too many igniters going bad.
It seems to be very hit or miss. Don't get me wrong, I love my Jetboil and use it all the time. Its the one critique I have for them. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Do you ever clean it while hiking? If so, what is your process? Or is it used once during a short hike and clean it when you get back home? Sometimes I need more than one cup throughout a trip :)
I wipe it out with sanitizing body wipes, because thats what I carry for cleaning when I'm hiking. Other than that I rinse it and thoroughly wash it when I get home.
I appreciate all the production professionalism, but 10:58 min for less than 2 min critical info was wasteful. I will use your measurements for a better cup of coffee.
That looks like a Teflon surface on the inside which has forever chemicals. Can somebody verify that stefflon because it doesn't look like stainless steel
lol....Anti Stevia I guess? I like Stevia. Much better for your teeth and digestive system than sugar. Honey is a good sweeter but not while hiking or camping.
Me and many many many many others I guess. Maybe, but I doubt it. Not sure what I could be doing to damage the igniter. This is designed to be a backpack stove. It has to be able to endure basic backpacking.
@@MikeWilleyI don't doubt what you're experiencing. I guess I've always taken for granted those things will light because none have ever failed me. Jetboil, MSR Windburner, MSR Pocket Rocket. I have had them all for years and put them through their paces at various times.
I appreciate your calm and informative demonstration-not rushed and showing some of your personality. Thanks a lot!
Thanks a lot Marlo. I really appreciate the positive vibes.
i love your jetboil. I am planning to buy one for me. Thanks for the demo and I enjoyed the peacefull time with you. ❤

Thanks! Power is out, just got this for Xmas. Need some coffee and remembered this made coffee..now I know how!
On it!
Can't let the power stop the flow of Coffee! Thanks for watching.
@@MikeWilley I was really impressed with it. Ended up using it for 3 days to make
Coffee and food.
Very good demonstration! Kudos to you too!! I’ll be using mine for the first time this weekend 🎉
Thanks for the feedback Angela. Let us know how it goes.
I have a lot of jet boil burners and not one of the igniters has ever failed. You must have bent the igniter tip which causes too big of a spark gap.
Its next to impossible to bend the igniter tip but ok. Glad you've had luck but I know of several people that have had the same problem I have. Keep a lighter or fire starter with you at all times regardless would be my take away.
@Sharp Focus not luck I never had one fail, and I don't carry any kind of Firestarter. AND yes they do bend.

Going on 5 years with my jet boil. Used its 30-40 time so far igniter hasn’t failed . Perhaps they have a warranty?? Good video thanks
Thanks for the input and I appreciate your support.
Coffee comes in bags (like teabags). I would use them over loose grounds. Carry a small container of milk or powdered milk.
I like the powdered Milk idea. I'm not big on cream in my coffee but most people are so thats a great suggestion. I haven't come across coffee in bags. I'll look into that. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@MikeWilley I am going to make a reusable tea/coffee bag from muslin cloth.

I sure like mine my igniter still working hope it stays that way lol
Any idea how many times you've used it or how long you've owned it?
Great video! I know it takes time and effort to plan, record, and edit these videos. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the support. It does take a lot of work but its worth it. I appreciate the comment

Wasn't really going for the heartwarming theme but I appreciate the suggestion. Just trying to add value the way I know how.

The igniter is a very common issue for negative feedback so it sounds like you've been lucky. Thanks for the feedback and I appreciate you watching.
@@MikeWilleyBS All my jetboils for 30 years have NEVER failec

use a decent jet flame lighter it’s an essential piece of kit I think

is that cap plastic or silicone?
Silicone I believe, its designed to be used with the body hot. I think plastic would melt.
No jetboil addres?
Not sure what your saying.?.?
