First time i went to the Philippines in 2016, there were many things that surprised me. Taking off my shoes and putting my shoes on and tying them for me. Following me around with the only electric fan they owned. Everyone fanning me with a bamboo fan nonstop. Sisters, nieces an nephews and even elderly relatives. Making me sit and eat before anyone would sit and eat. Not letting me pick up my own plate after eating. Oh and the amount and number of times everyone eats was amazing. Lets not even talk about superstitions.

The comforts we have in America, strengthen the separation of family 🤷‍♂️ most Asian cultures have the strongest family bonding culture. Usually because of nearly all the things you named.
8:05 THIS 🫰🫰🫶 family with all the comforts, has no need for sharing in community support. Which “can” create separation 🤷‍♂️

I went to a hotel in the Philippines for a return visit after my Filipina wife was with me here in the USA for many years. We ordered our breakfast and I was given a knife and fork, she was given a spoon and fork. We were waiting for our breakfast to be brought out, and she asked for a knife, and one was brought to her. A minute later another waitress walked by and saw that a Filipina had a knife by her plate and promptly picked it up and took it away. She had to tell them that she is used to using a knife and wanted it back. They just assume the foreigner wants a knife and a Filipina would not know how to use one.

Thank you for the video! I found your channel through Pea. I am looking for more information like this. In the video several unusual (unusual to me) foods were mentioned. Their was a short description of deboning small fish in your mouth, how is that done?. Can't say every food is on my list to try, I will try any food once. Balut is something I would consider trying, if I knew how to eat it. As an American, I assume eat it like an oyster. Tip the shell and shoot it down.
The content of how to eat food, or even why no knife, is interesting to me. Most of the content is about Filipinas/relationships/age gap. As a single guy, all that information is helpful. I would also enjoy watching videos on Philippine table manners, how to eat food w/o a knife.
Eating food on camera is not for everyone, including me. A good run down of how to eat, with out standing out in the restaurant. That is information I would like to know.
As for the sprayer for your bum, how it is used to not get water everywhere? Not everyone is comfortable washing their bum on camera, including me. That is also some information I would like to know. I can think of a few tastefulish ways it could be done on camera. But I just watch TH-cam, I don't create content.
Thank you for the video! I will be watching more of your videos.

This video actually had me laughing out loud. As a westerner, we grow up with such privilege, even being "poor" in the US would be a very comfortable living for some of the stuff I've seen in PH province videos. It's incredible how happy, humble, proud and generous they are with so little. But yeah, everything he listed is pretty shocking to most of us who grew up in a society of consumerism, western conveniences where every chore is either automated or has some electric device to massively speed up the process, cheap access to clean drinkable tap water, hot water, electricity and hvac. We have it so easy over here and we take it for granted so much. Now I'm off to watch the video of what Filipinas find shocking about foreigners haha, this should be good.

The tiny dry fish too im not a fan 😂 im quite particular about what fish i eat though anyway, always have been. The toilet paper thing don't bother me too much since it's more hygienic to wash than wipe 🤷‍♂️ but was shocked when i couldn't find toilet paper or bidet 😂 figuring the tabo out. Leah, when you use water to whipe your arse, what do you use to dry it? You can't just pull up your panty over a wet arse! 🙂 In the Philippines, table knifes are regarded as leathal weapons. I remember buying some at Gaisano and the saleslady had to go and get the manager, because he was the only one who had the key to the display in which the knifes were stored. Gary, I'm disgusted by the same kind of food as you, but I must say that there are many other Filipino dishes that I really like.

Another shocking thing I noticed in another TH-cam video about strange food was at the local street food market and the vendor selling "chicken head on a stick". I cannot even imagine eating that.
Yes, the toilet paper thing is shocking to me too. I have a spray hose connected to my kitchen sink to rinse the dishes before putting them in the dish washer BUT they still need to go into the dish washer to get washed, otherwise the dishes would be greasy. I tried my spray hose with peanut butter on the palm of my hand and it did not do a good job of cleaning off my hand, so, I can't imaging a spray hose at the toilet working very well for cleaning one's butt.

    • @Box-oo9tx
      @Box-oo9tx 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Request me. The toilet water pipe in use in the Middle East is very hygienic. I am surprised that the West hasn't cottoned on to it. Of course having toilet paper to dry your wet butt is helpful.

There's a difference though, food stuff can be solid and oily which water doesn't do much for unless it's scalding hot. But what's coming out the back door isn't oily and is water soluble. I think it comes down to the pressure and length of time as to how clean it gets. My question is, now you've hosed down your butt and it's wet, how do you dry it off?

I call it a "Bum Gun", the modernized tabo 🤣 but they're called a hand bidet sprayer. Showering in public with others might be shocking at first, but I don't think it's a big deal since they do it clothed, doing it with cold water wouldn't bother me since I take luke warm and gradually turning it down to cold showers any ways.
When I was deployed to Afghanistan and had guard duty, the locals houses were almost right up to the fence and would see the kids out playing with nothing but a water bottle on a string and they were as content as could be. The day before my next guard duty I went to the BX/PX and bought some small toys and candy, that could fit through the holes in the chain link fence, and passed it through the fence to them. The joy on their faces was priceless! One of the fathers came over to see what was going on, and saw what I gave the kids and he shook my hand and said "thank you". I agree seeing poverty on such a scale for the 1st time is shocking, but it also separates people and shows who they truly are. One group will feel sadness and want to help, the other group will let it go to their head that they're better than they are and let their ego drive the bus and be demeaning and condescending.
I think one thing this video shows, there is culture shock on both sides. When in a MULTI-cultural relationship, it is no longer "This is my country and how we do it," BOTH will have to be open minded to adapt and change to each others cultures. You don't have to agree with it, but you can come to a compromise both can live with. HIS culture is what made him the person he is, deny his culture you are denying him as a person and he is not going to stay. Understanding the foreigners culture will stop MANY unnecessary problems before they occur. She also needs to forget about tampo, she needs to SPEAK UP, openly and HONESTLY if she doesn't like or understand something he says/does and tell him, so he can explain to her why, and fix the problem before it becomes more serious.
A LITTLE jealousy is good, it shows she cares, but when it turns into an interrogation just to pick up your phone or walk out the door, it has crossed the boundaries into psycho behavior. Excessive jealousy will have the complete opposite affect she is hoping for, it will push him AWAY, NOT bring him closer. He is looking for PEACE and not having freedom to move around like he's in prison, is NOT going to bring him that peace. One thing a Filipina should think about/realize, he chose YOU over the 50+ MILLION other Filipina's, don't give him a reason to look else where, and he will remain loyal and faithful to YOU. Let's face it, he's a man, he is biologically hard wired to look at women, and he is going to look, and YES he is judging those other women compared to you, but he chose you and they aren't you and he will find some flaw with her, so the other woman isn't good enough. Why take a risk on the unknown when he knows what he already has. Bring him the peace and happiness he seeks and he will give you his heart, and no other Filipina can steal from him what YOU possess. Take away his peace and happiness and you are pushing him into the arms of other Filipina's that aren't taking it away.

... if you dont wash your bum with water after wiping, i find that shocking. If you stepped in mud, would you wash your feet or shoe off with water or only wipe with paper lol ? Some "western" ways are great and learning how many other cultures are more effective and combining the two cultures is even better. Food preference is mostly about what you've previously been exposed to and personal taste.
