Get a bit further north, Morecambe Bay, the Lune Valley, Kirkby Lonsdale, Arnside ... good Truckstop at Carnforth, great meals.
Kendal is a good intro to the Lakes, beautiful even on rainy days. Bon voyage from southern Spain. (Scorchio !)
