I'm filling my December TBR with holiday themed cozy mysteries, a few random seasonal novels from adult to middle grade, and...... holiday ghost story collections! I have a few Victorian collections, and a Dicken's collection, but I'm most excited to read The Haunting Season: Ghostly Tales for Long Winter Nights, short stories written by some of my favorite contemporary authors. If you don't know about that one, sounds like you might like to add it to your collection. And although reading a story each night in the build up TO Christmas certainly sounds like a good plan, technically the twelve days of Christmas start ON Christmas and roll out until Jan 5 or 6, depending on the religious tradition. I was thinking of doing my ghost story reading then, as a way to stretch the season out past the chaotic pre-holiday weeks and enjoy the "quieter" side. And thank you for the Syd Moore recommendations, I had not heard of these!
I am not really a seasonal reader and even if I was I wouldn't be a chirstmas reader. That being said I am into gothic stories an I have been in a consistent gothic mood for the past lot of months and I love short stories so so many of these recs are up my alleyway. Also, now I am questioning whether I should finally begin my Angela Carter bind up of all her short stories, Burning your Boats. I have read one of her collections, The Bloody Chamber and other stories which I loved and is also included in this collection. Maybe I should.
