Amen. If the S90es FELT and navigated like the S80, that’d be heaven. The compromise I make, and it is in editing and in the super-immediate connection to S90 sound, is S80 with Motif-Rack ES!
iOS and soft synths are practical for gigging, but in my experience they are not future proof. Software companies go under, constant problems with discontinued updates due to iOS incompatibility. Had a 5-7 year cycle on an iPhone 3gs setup, a 10 year cycle on a laptop setup. In the long run, hardware keyboards are better investments especially for a studio setup. I still use gear from the 1980s and 1990s that are still going strong after the occasional memory battery replacements.
yes and i miss some features standard keyboards Have Like Midi recording,Arpeggio Styles Which ios sound apps have In my opinion Just Have Both The standard Keyboard & Ios system And use ios only occasionally
I was always told the CAMERA CONNECTION "kit" (just a damn connector!!), was ESENTIAL and bluetooth would drain the battery - and since you needed this connector, you could only run the ipad/iPhone on battery - but with Bluetooth midi this is not even an issue since you can use a charger as the lightening port is would then be free (for use of a charger!) when using a Bluetooth MIDI device to connect the keyboard to the iphone/ipad?2 minutes ago•
GREAT!! . Ive been trying to do a software live performance setup since 2004 it SSD was too expensive and laptops too cumbersome and fragile. I now have iPads and am real excited about doing this again - nope that ipad are affordable... But it seems like NO ONE can provide accurate and useful information at apple or ANY music retailer!), so I hope YOU can - since you seem to be well experienced with it!
If you use MacOS (aka OS X), the last few versions have included something called Inter Audio Device - basically you plug the iOS device into your Mac via the lightning cable, and it will show up as an Audio input source in the MIDI control panel. End to end digital, no latency, clipping or any other issues.
Neo soul keys is also great giving you the possibility to tweak sounds. I grand with ipad air 2 gives me poor latency, but this could be because i m using a roland duo ca 22 usb connected to the ipad. All the other apps work great. Another good app is Jordantron.
Korg Module - Ivory = an excellent piano sound.. Still haven't bought the grand in Sample tank, so not sure how it compares. So far Ivory is the best I've heard on iOS., but haven't tried many that you've recommended here.
You commented on the latency issue. I don't know if it's TH-cam or what but there is a noticeable visual latency when you're playing the keys. Very cool nonetheless!
Tutorials for Midi & KORG Arranger Keyboards there was non while shooting. I used adobe premiers syncing algorithm. Perhaps that is causing what your seeing.
Man the chord progressions or whatever you'd call them he plays sound so nice. I'd love to get back into playing after I stopped in my teens. But, I don't like the traditional stuff that my teachers used to teach. The stuff in this video however is more what I'd like to learn. Can it be classified as a genre or something?
What feature does one need on a keyboard to connect an iOS device? What connectivity options? Some example keyboards? Does the keyboard need blus tooth?
Nope still here. My personal phone is Android but I got a free iPad from work so joke's on you!😘 Ezekiel 18. A lesson in Equality hehe seems to be relevant to today's climate
You know what's really cool about physical keyboards? In a few years when that version of iPhone is no longer supported, the physical keyboard still works.
Andin Briwel there will most likely be iPads around everywhere as it and the iPhone are the biggest moneymakers that Apple ever had. I don’t see either one of them going away anytime soon.
Andin Briwel KORG Module is one sound source libraries that is compatible with the nearly 5 year old iPhone 5s. Phone support for sounds don’t fall off the planet in the way you mentioned.
Ok - So you buy an old phone. You would need an old phone because the new ones can't charge when it using the audio. I would be worried about non balanced crappy little minijacks. You still need a controller but that would be much cheaper than a full keyboard. I would be worried about Wireless interference and latency. There has to be some.
yes ios instruments are getting better and better and are still cheap. I own an Ipad and several vst and a roland fa. However, my ears hear a gap with sound quality compared to vst and hardware units, especially regarding the acoustic pianos. But well, we aren t talking the same price range so for somebody on a budget and already owning and ipad and controller it s great bargain. But for the price of an ipad and a decent controller, you can actually have a good board like the yammies rolands etc. You can even have a second hand roland integra and believe me the acoustic pianos, rhodes and wurlis sound gorgeous on that rack miles ahead from the ipad. At least to my ears.
how reliable is it? would you go out with just a MIDI controlled and the PUC? And whats the spec of the iPhone? And you play wonderfully too. Real class.
Appreciate the support. The connection is rock solid. My only gripe is the battery life while in standby. Hadn't used for a month. Turn on the unit to a low battery indicator.
Where on line can you buy the sounds you talked about? and that MKS for $19 something how many songs on that I only heard about 5 sounds you demo Piano strings pad are there more on that particular app? I’m new to this thanks for the help.
I have an M- Audio Keystation 49 MIDI controller that I use with a Mini Engine MIDI plus gadget through an USB connection. The Keystation only has an USB plug. Of course, the sounds from the midi plus are just basic and I was wondering if I can connect my Iphone directly to the Keystation with a ready available cable and use the software you describe in the video? Question number two: which software you use for the Iphone? Great sound and great video.
I've seen the Brazilian drummer app and the Funk drummer app - with PRESET apps as well as the ability to make patterns (with fills!). But do you know of a JAZZ drummer app (with decent preset swing rythms)?? . Does ANYONE know of one? . Thanx!
Nice vid. Im going this way as well. Where did you get the PUC from? They seem a little pricey? Does give the possibily of picking up a small midi controller keyboard, and walking (wirelessly) to the front, to be able to sound check while playing ! Sampletank offers laying and splits of sounds - which I dont think the others do?
dont know a lot about keyboards but i thought that thing your tapping with your fingers was one . So if i buy a iphone does it come with that big piano looking thing your playing notes with instead of buying a keyboard or is that extra dollars
I’m afraid that it don’t work for to long with any conexión other than apple lighting camera adapter direct from usb midi i was using a Novation impulse and always have issues with the conexión recently I changed to an Arturia and finally no more issues
Absolutely wonderful video experience! Is going 1/8 audio connector into my PA acceptable or should I use an additional interface when playing live? I already have a lighting camera cable. Thanks!
I didn't even know there were other PROFESSIONAL keyboard performance apps than the KORG (le Module) series, and that Le Module APParently can't do layers and splits. , (so I bought two ipads, for splits/organ type useage) Can this app be controlled by two different keyboards (Bluetooth MIDI), enabling splits and layers?

A used Ipad will not work. I tried the Ipad Mini 2 for my drone and it would not since it was too old and the OS would not update. So, I bought a new Ipad Mini 4 with the latest OS and still, it needed the latest OS11, which fortunately, was installed an updated. I'm so impressed with the sounds on Garage Band, I ordered the MIDI interface with Akai keyboard.
Hi nice video Do you think I could use the Bluetooth connectivity of the roland fp model to do the same ? As fp10 is a cheap option with scaled hammers action keys? Thanks
Yes, you can. You don't need bluetooth/midi adapter since it's already on FP10. Besides, FP 10 is very cheap keyboard, I highly recommend to buy more expensive/better keyboard, FP30 or Kawai ES110, also there are other models in this price range ($600, Kord D1, Yamaha P125 and Casio PX S1000), but those doesn't have integrated bluetooth midi. For this PUC adapter you will be paying $100 (new). Also, you should check Casio CDP S350. It is cheap as FP10 and, instead of having a few sounds like aforementioned keyboards, it has 700 various sounds to play both in layer and split modes, so you likely will never ever need any additional sounds.
I'm using MKsensation with puc midi wireless, but MKsensation always go off when service is going on middle of praise and warship Very disappointing, I'm using my iPad Air 2.
+TheMaddazhell The small cable is just to keep the phone charged. The phone does just fine with battery usage without charging during this type of use. I don't follow what you mean by "real controller"
+TheMaddazhell I think a better word is dedicated controller. The keyboard is midi into the wireless transmitter shown and then sent via Bluetooth to the iPhone. Hope this helps.
This video gave me a lot of hope at first. Then you pulled up SampleTank.... and then iGrand... and I was like 'crap'. The reason i say that is because I use both of those programs already and I can't really get a good piano sound from them. They sound fine when I use them for in house stuff like with other programs for creating songs or whatever, but when I try to use the piano sounds for live performances, they sound like garbage to me coming from my amp. It's the pianos in particular because the other sounds come out fine through the amp. So I wanted to know if the gospel musician program has piano sounds that you believe would still sound good in a live setting?
+hnsmusic I'll add also that I've used other keyboards and sound modules through the same amp and they've sounded great. I just haven't had the same quality come through for those programs
+Carver I used to run through a bass amp (swr workingmans 15'). Bass amps certainly have the power and the punch but not much else. Most setups I'm hearing about are either using a stereo keyboard amps (Roland kc880 or motion sound kp100 and up) or running duel monitors of some kind. Two seperate channels of sound regardless of placement works wonders for keyboardist and their sound. Try it. Though you may have a hard time trying to sell this idea to an old fashioned sound man. Phase cancellations are the true enemy.
Hello I have a question, how did you set your piano? Menu wise... I have the same keyboard at church and same software and midi interface.... but I don’t know how to get the sound to work
Hi, JJ. Thank you for great videos, very informative! May I ask what amplification you are using? PA speakers? Combo? I have Korg Kronos and I am trying to re-create the clarity of the real piano. Thank you!
+Alina Kiryayeva Your best bet would probably be a good set of powered monitors. Otherwise look at the roland KC-880 or Motion-Sound KP200 or the KP500SN. These are single enclosure amps but are in Stereo. Except no compromises. Heres a quick demo of the KP500 th-cam.com/video/sB5KOW--NhY/w-d-xo.html
That looks like the Yamaha S90es, best board I ever owned.
The more I look at going into soft synth, the more I am convinced to go that route. Thanks for the info!
He plays piano so well.. nice qhors progressions

If you have an iPhone or iPad, you’re already half way there. iOS is a musician and sound designer’s playground!
Just to let everyone know, I have discontinued my free SF2 packs. The link to them in the description no longer works.

By the way cool playing ! You really make them sound good all those ios devices keep it up.
So glad I stumbled across your channel! Great advice, and I'm looking into the Puc - that's awesome.
It sounds great because you are playing it. Very nice, thanks for sharing!
didn't realize I commented before, yeah your playing is very musical.
It’s still a bit flat but with the right EQ and plug for sure the iOS synths are getting there on their own.
house machine flat? Don’t agree at all.

Can I still set up like this in 2022
Yes
Korg Module - Ivory = an excellent piano sound.. Still haven't bought the grand in Sample tank, so not sure how it compares. So far Ivory is the best I've heard on iOS., but haven't tried many that you've recommended here.

Can you please do a tutorial cover on the song Every Prayer by Israel Houghton..... nobody has a video on it

How do you send a feed? Is it coming out of the Iphone jack?
i like how you play and talk at the same time lol
I turn on my Wi-Fi and use AirPlay to an airport express to send sound wirelessly from my keytar that’s connected to my old iPhone
Hi from México do you have something for Android?
the piano sounds smooth
like the piano

Peule Rogan Pianodownloads.com is glad to help strengthen the economy. Now move Foxconn to America. 😆

I’m afraid that it don’t work for to long with any conexión other than apple lighting camera adapter direct from usb midi i was using a Novation impulse and always have issues with the conexión recently I changed to an Arturia and finally no more issues
Hey what is the name of the App you are playing at the starting point the video?, the piano Sunderland is great.
Can we download MKSENSATION in iphone 6s and also can connect it through midi cables to ROLANDXP60??? plzz reply aspa!!!
Probably a good idea to do research on this hardware and software. I appreciate the support but you'll do well to educate yourself asap.
Com o sampletank dá sim Anthony! Você tem até 8 camadas para distribuir na forma de layer e split.
Get Korg gadet. Will allow layering/ mixing and it uses sounds from module app
Ion - Thanx i didn't know there were those ways to layer and split! . BUT I am also talking about two different keyboards controlling an app on different channels, like what you can do with a polyphonic module... I'm pretty sure these apps can't do THAT!!
Yes, you can do this. You need only choice different midi channel to each keyboard.
so the PUC IS wireless but connects to the phone?
What is a pad? What is an mks library, mk20? And how in the heck are you combining sounds from different apps? Newbie here...thanks.
that is a smart idea using your iPhone for your keyboard
Show me how did you set up the conection plz

do you think the puc would work well with a Korg M3? also some of the links do not work, would love to access the gospel pack. thanks

No Organ apps? Are the effects manipulatable or static?
Anthony Hamilton Garage Band has a SICK Organ sound that you should be able to use this same way.
How would you rate Korg Module/Gadget with the Ivory IAP??? Wish we could get the Puc + here in Mexico. Thanks for this video!
Edward Buckley when u buy these’s sounds...what if u charger your iPhone,iPad . Would you have to buy them over??????
Great video! What Yamaha are you using as your midi controller?
R B S90ES
Hi sir. I have a motif es6. When I play this. It has excessive aftertouch. Is there a setting to stop this from doing aftertouch?
Hi nice video

was wondering if you contacted jamal about that and see if there's an update
It depends on how many sounds you have layered at the same time. I just focus on 2 Maximum. Also try the Korg Module
does this works on any Yamaha pianos With USB in Port?
This is opposite to your video, but it looks like your board is a S90 (xs or es). Do you like that board? How are the pianos in it?
I believe he is playing the S90 ES
How are the pianos connected to the keyboard
What camera are you using? Great vid by the way!
