      I'm from the southern part of the continent and we definitely don't look like East Africans let alone West Africans. Even down here we're kinda ethnically different but not much. Black Americans definitely have a West African aesthetic. But even West Africans are ethnically diverse. I can tell a Senegalese apart from a Ghanaian.

    When you come into Nigeria make sure you stay in Victoria Island, Ikoyi or Lekki those are where all the hip places are located. Then you can try the capital Abuja, which is hip & modern also but way more chilled like Nairobi. Lagos is very fast and crazy paced like New York but safe.

      I love Dakar. So far my best West African city from those I have visited. I think I would love Abidjan too from what I have seen and heard ( I've never been though)..except for the language issues since I dont speak French.

    Via the “Year of Return” in 2019 and afterwards a lot of African Americans have been traveling to Ghana… With that they’ve brought their style, music, etc and some of the Ghanaians have picked up on those things (*explanation for the American music and fashion). Not to mention, they have family members in the U.S. and U.K or have visited or studied in those places also.

      Ghanaians have been accustomed to African American culture for decades. I was born in the 80’s, and our choice of music was RnB, hiphop etc.
      We embraced those genre of music more than African music, back then, and those were the only ones they played in clubs, house parties, school, etc. So this is nothing new.

So you will feel at home in most West African countries because you are genetically the same people.Your behavior ( loudness), dance and music Hip hop, Jazz, rhythm and blues traditionally originated from West Africa although you made them uniquely black American.. Most of the African captives were taken of 1)-7 The Senegambia area (Senegal, Gambia) and surrounding areas ( Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Sierra Leone), 2)-The Gold Coast (Ghana ) and Nigeria and Benin and as far as Cameroon, 3)The Congo angola area. Most of those ended up in Brazil and others parts of Latin America.

      As a Kenyan married to a Ghanaian/Togolese. This is true.
      However, I find that comparing both countries and add Nigerian to the mix too is like comparing apples to oranges.
      A fair comparison would be Nigerians and Ghanaians. Compare their culture, traditional music, clothing, nollywood/galiwood, education, food, etc.
      Oh, and that they love showing off. You can not, by any standards, compare a Kenyan wedding or party to Ghanaian or Nigerian. Or the cars....the car demand is so high such that most cars stolen from Canada end up in Nigeria or Ghana.

    I anticipate more of your personal observation from Ghana in terms of social, cultural, personnel interactions and dating aspects.
    I have heard and listened to people who had visited Accra that the city is slowly and gradually becoming the Atlanta of West Africa
    (I mean in a social and cultural terms). These evolutions are nice from infrastructural and economical points of view, but socially and culturally, the Ghanian Government have to place some parameters in family court systems before simps and feminists turns the whole culture and the family structure up side down.     Being a kenyan based in the diaspora, i have noted that the strong lessons on humility instilled in us while growing up stuck like glue. You can have loads of money but fill guilty when being flashy, infact that can make folks avoid you like the plague. Its not a flex on that side of Africa, i guess its the umoja(unity)and undugu (brotherhood) morals in our psyche. Our West African brothers and sisters on the other hand.......a topic for another day.

His clothes were nice too, but a little more pricier than I expected. Clothes aside, you have to factor in things like turnaround time, reliability, cost, quality, etc,

      There’s cash shortage in Nigeria. You can only get a certain amount from atm and sometimes the atm runs out of money. There’s no cashless transactions making it difficult for travelers. On top of that the price of fuel has gone up because fuel subsidy ended driving travel expenses up. The inconveniences are endless making it hard for travelers.
