  • www.ProCPR.org - If a child does not respond and is not breathing normally, call 911. Check for a pulse. If the child does not have a carotid pulse, begin CPR. Perform chest compressions using one hand in the center of the chest for thirty compressions. These compressions should be performed at a depth of at least 1/3 the depth of the chest. Give two breaths, followed by 30 compressions, and repeat until the child revives, an AED is available, or advanced life support arrives. Video created by ProTrainings.

    I kinda feel like these videos shouldn't have the whole buildup at the beginning. Just get to it. Do your monolog after. This video should have started at 1:25

    What steps should students take when they see someone unconscious and there’s no protective equipments or bystanders?

    Is the only difference between adult CPR and child CPR the number of hands used to do compression?

    • @ydl6832
      @ydl6832 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      probably, bcuz the child's chest is narrow.

      It's really about their chest being less resistant. You should still try to compress to a depth of 2 inches, the same as an adult. It's just easier to accomplish this with a small child. Only one hand is necessary, and it's safer. If you feel 2 hands are necessary, do that. Some kids are huskier than others.
      The same logic applies for rescue breaths. Breathe until their chest starts to rise, the same as an adult. It won't take as much force or air to achieve this with a small child, so be more gentle with them.
      With infants, compress to a depth of 1.5 inches. Only 2 fingers (or thumbs) are necessary to achieve this on such a small body. Again, breathe until their chest starts to rise, the same as a child or adult. It won't take nearly as much force or air to achieve this with an infant, so be even more gentle with them. Infants are also easier to deal with in your hands, on your lap or on a table than on the ground.
      These are the only differences I can think of between adult, child and infant CPR. I'm certified in CPR by ARC and read some things, but I'm not an instructor or medical professional.

    So the only difference between child and adult CPR is that in child case we do the chest compressions with one hand?
