    Omg!! I’m starting med school this fall and I was dreading long study days + giving up my weekends to study but this is giving me so much hope. I love the idea of treating it like a “hard” 9-5 job! The pdf doc is perfect! Thank you! 😭

    Lol..the pharmacist I worked with did the same. As soon as she was accepted in the pharmacy program she just got C's and "relaxed"....she said because once your IN your IN . It's getting accepted that's the hard part.

      Wow. 😮… Well said. Is a pass fail school a DO school? Osteopathic? Do MD schools do the traditional grading that Maggie avoided? I’m just trying to understand how it works… thanks guys.

    SOOO HELPFUL!! Thank you 💓 I’m an incoming MS1, how do you prevent feeling guilty/bad for skipping certain topics during studying?

      I’m so glad it’s helpful!! I think feeling guilty is inevitable honestly because we are human and it’s in our nature to want to do everything so well but I think back to my #1 goal which is to pass. If it’s super important then I can still stop studying by 6:30 but then plan to do it first thing the next morning! And if I do that I usually study it better in the morning anyway so it’s a win win!

    U don't need to think about grades , if you study for grades you won't benefit anything from these studies , remember in the future those studies will safe a life of a patient

      The DO schools I Interviewed at all had traditional grading and most of the MD schools I interviewed at had P/F. It can be either type of grading whether it’s DO or MD!

    Is it common to have a “pass/fail” kind of school? I think it’s great to not have to obsess about grades but I didn’t realize that was something med schools did. Don’t grades ultimately matter to know where you’re gonna match?!

    • @itslifebymaggie
      @itslifebymaggie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Lots of schools have a pass/fail grading system! And there’s a bunch of other factors that are important for residency like letters of rec, grades from clinical years, research, etc!

      It's becoming a lot more common now, but schools sometimes still rank students within the P/F system. The STEP 1 was recently changed to P/F. This is good as getting the highest of grades isn't the only thing that makes a good doctor. Now they also take into consideration what else you do in med school: research, rotations, community involvement, letters of rec/clinical evaluations, etc...
