A nice, summed up video about how I managed to do well during my first and second years of medical school! By all means!!!! This is not the end all, be all study method. It may or may not work for you. Trial different study methods and find what's best for you as a learner.

Thanks for sharing your journey! I had a very similar experience with all my didactic success, but lots and lots of studying and time in the books. But it all does pay off. I would help balance my studies with exercise and video games lol. Wish you the best success moving forward!

Honestly, I just finished my freshman year of undergrad with all A’s and a 4.0 gpa on top of some club awards and into an honors society because of seeing TH-camrs like karma medic and med head. I totally get that non bragging thing, this is the first time I’ve talked about it since summer began. I hope to keep doing great things and I pray for your continuous success. Guys! as a med student with the same curriculum, I can attest that this is actually a VERY GOOD study method. Especially for those deciding if this is an exception (since Rachel was already a very successful student) or standard students should attempt to imitate when deciding how to study in year 2.
I say this because its very confusing, overwhelming even to jump into so many disciplines after year 1 where it was just anatomy and physio. Getting started over the summer is something I really recommend so when you go into your second year, you are really just doing your second pass which sets you up for STEP prep. It will seem hard since you are doing by yourself but trust the process. I wish I would have done this cause TRUST ME you do not want to doing your second pass when studying for boards. While it does sound nice to learn with the lectures at school (especially those who like to have a schedule), its just not feasible. Get ahead and use your actual year 2 to reinforce what you learned over the summer. And REVIEW, REVIEW, REVIEW! Daily!

So you want people to spend their last free summer of their life till they retire studying for stuff they will be learning that year, seems unnecessary IMO. If you want to be that much of a gunner get publications during the summer instead and then work hard during the year, you’ll be better off. Just my 2 cents
@@rogerfederer9999 yeah im going into second year, half the summer already over lmao n i havent studied one bit. Just doing 1 research project and have a job. I agree this will be my last "fun" summer. I might start studying a week or so b4 school but idk i dont feel like studying rn
@@rogerfederer9999 I agree with you. I think maybe since Rachel's school seems to have class ranks is the reason why she needs to study so much (even more than other med students). Yeah, in general PDs for residency do NOT care about preclinical grades (as long as you pass). They care about Board scores, research, and rotations for the most part.
@@rogerfederer9999 I never said don't enjoy your summer. Go on vacation for two weeks. Getting ahead isn't about being a gunner. It's about not setting urself up to be super stressed coming from someone who has been through it. Even just putting aside 4 hours a day will help you in the long run and still leaves you the rest of the day to yourself
Although I graduated already I will pass these tips onto the ones that are now starting ❤ thank you for being so inspiring throughout my last year as a uni student, it really helped to see you working so hard in which made me more driven to learn and do assignments

Sometimes I feel like people don't realize how much effort, time, and dedication goes into doing well in school. Yes, some people are naturally smart, but for most of us it's about discipline and getting things done in order to achieve our goals. You deserve all the bragging rights for making Dean's list and we are all so proud of you!! You have worked your ass off for this and it's not easy to do what you're doing. Burn out is real and studying for hours and hours a day can get exhausting, but it's worth it when you reach your goals. Thank you for all your tips and advice and allowing us to follow along on your journey :)
Congrats! You deserve this. My school does rank and grades, and I did kind of crummy. I had trouble keeping up. Now that Covid is easing up, I plan on going to all the lectures in person. I also want to do anki more and maybe switch up my caffeine source( I can experience fatigue and am a deep sleeper--> 2 things I need to fight while I navigate a career in medicine). Some lectures take me forever to read, so I am hoping to keep up with those better. I like your videos! They give me a better ide on how to navigate!

I'm on a current burnout and the only thing I'm trying to do is take things lightly so I can deliver my assignments in time, but sometimes I just cant
I'm just now barely going into my first year of college. However I do want to go to medical school. You worked hard and I am happy that you are getting the recognition you deserve. Do not feel wavered from sharing your success as the Herd supports you, I support you and I am very proud of you. I'm not sure if you already made a video but could you give advice to college students that have medical school in their mindset?

Rachel, we’ve seen you literally cry, break an arm, move apartments, get disappointed, all that stuff. I cannot believe how you manage to do all these and still kick med school right in the patoot.
