    Celebrating 3 years of owning this motorcycle with a quick ride and review. Buying a newer generation Yamaha MT09, was it worth it?
    Thanks for watching. Looking forward to seeing you in the next one 😎!

      @@Mike_P646 I wondered what you found in need of improvement on Gen.3 models?? The lower flatter top tank set up on Gen.4s cause a loss of air-box volume and filter area. I don’t need noise dumped under my chin that can interfere with my hearing more important things. The new ergonomics pitch you forward more and to me it is less comfortable than Gen.3 ergonomics. I felt more part of the bike with the higher tank and its wider carry back to the rider. I got use to the cyclops headlamp and don’t feel the new design is really any sort of an improvement. The only improvement I see is the cruise control system which is the only thing I feel was missing on the Gen.3 models. Both are great bikes but I will continue on with my 2022. It punches more of my happy buttons and is a proven performer over thousands of miles.

I also thought of selling it but couldn't hahha. I had a warranty issue but i took a while to completely fix it. Throttle was very snatchy and also revd weird qnd stalled. From what I read in all the comments sections on net it would seem Yamaha has a dealership problem. Tons of people with problems and their dealership either won’t solve even small problems or recalls.
    I haven’t found any serious problems with Yamaha products and the ones I have had were addressed by my dealer.
    I bought a new 2022 MT09 and it had two recalls on it when I bought it. Yamaha contacted me about the recalls in under a week. I contacted my dealer and he said he already had the part coming for one recall. Then dealer told me I could leave the bike that day and pickup bike the next afternoon.Everything was done just like that.
    The bike has been absolutely trouble free and a joy to ride.
    I had a Yamaha 750 Seca that was trouble free 51,000 miles. A good friend had a Yamaha Royal for many miles and years etc etc. so I feel confident in Yamaha and my dealer.

      Nice man. I'm happy you've had a good experience! So silly isn't it that something so small to such a big brand and dealership has to be made so difficult. However, worse things happen in life, and I'm just happy I can still twist the throttle 💨

    Good vid mate ,I wish you could have a ride on my tracer 9gt model .you have the Monday bike I have the Friday bike , the engine .love the sound of yours the gear changing sounds mint .mine after 30 mph then gear box is that bad I can't hear the engine but they say it's normal. Very disappointed

      Ah, man, I'd love to. A tracer would be so good for going long distance on, I could imagine.
      Yeah, mine does sound wild, but it was super expensive to have it all race tuned and whatnot. But worth it in a way to me!
      I'll record some pure audio video soon, and show the bike spitting some huge flames on deceleration. With the silencer out the pops sound like gun shots and you can feel the pops in your chest a little.
      It's a shame about your gearbox noise. Headphone and a cardo, that's what I would do and just block it out with music 😊!

    Did they fix the problem with the TPS in the later iterations of the gen 3 model? i own a gen 3 from 2023 and worry about getting the same issue,

    • @thethrottletube
      @thethrottletube  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They did indeed from late 2021 they fixed it. It was only the very first batch that had the issue. I had a 2022 tps fitted and it's been magic.
      2023 should be bullet proof. I'd sleep comfortably knowing you have a 23 model 😎!

    Hey buddy, i feel you i have the same issue. Which is the "new Gen tps"is ist the 2022 tps? Yamaha isnt helping me out they say they havent seen this issue yet...and the warrenty ran out so they need to exchange the whole throttle body for 2 k. Keep it Up and ride the beast safe

    • @thethrottletube
      @thethrottletube  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey man. From everything I've ever known with this issue... it only affected a small batch of the first 2021 ones made.
      However, I guess any part could go faulty at any time. YAMAHA always do it the lazy way and replace the whole throttle bodies as the tps is attached to the side. So they just replace the WHOLE unit, which is unnecessary and costly.... what a shock ;)!
      I think my whole fix with labour's was about $250-300 US. Do you have a fault code?
      And thanks for the kind words. I shall continue to get better at this youtube game!

    • @samialy-r8j
      @samialy-r8j 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thethrottletube ya bro keep it up and keep the beast tamed :) . No i Had IT replaced once and its faulty again. Did you get the 2021 TPS again or ordered a 2022/23 one. I dont have an Error code but its studdering while cold. After 60°C coolant the stuttering is gone..pretty weird

    • @thethrottletube
      @thethrottletube  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @user-js8xs4uq1c How strange. I got mine replaced with the 22 TPS (they do that ar standard as the 2021 ones were faulty in some cases). The stuttering whilst cold makes sense to be a tps issue maybe, as the bike is idling higher until it warms up. And if the tps is off, it will read the higher rpm of the cold engine as wrong, messing the fueling and making it stutter.
      That's my two cents. But annoyingly, unless you just change it or take it to a tech, it's a guessing game. But THAT would be my guess as nothing else on these bikes have issues I know of. And I'm pretty good at keeping on top of the MT09 news

    • @WalterJohnson-er7bt
      @WalterJohnson-er7bt 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The low speed stall or the transition stall going from idle to take off power was also a problem with my 2022 model. My dealer flashed a new program into my bike and all is well. The o2 sensor recall took about 30 minutes and I was off. No other problems or complaints and I would buy this bike again without a moment’s hesitation. It has everything I need or want in a motorcycle. Power is perfect, weight is perfect, riding position very good and overall comfortable bike. Quality, servicing ability, fuel range and economy satisfactory for everything I do. I added a color matching touring windscreen that works even better than I had hoped for. You can now ride 80 plus all day no problem. I added a KAKO throttle lock/ cruise control that works very well. My factory seat has proven satisfactory so far.
      Being in my late 70s, on trips I run around 200 miles or a little more before a light lunch. Then I will run around 350 or so after lunch. On super slab I get 42 to 46 mpg and I get 50 to 60 mpg on secondary roads when traveling. I won’t mention fuel consumption when I am playing around as it gets into the 20s on occasions. The Raven black paint option is easy to keep and is very handy when on trips.

  • @justinniessen1983
    @justinniessen1983 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    This problem should of been sorted through warranty, or do the yams not give you any? I've had other manufacturers bikes serviced at yamaha dealership, they were way over priced and the problem I was having and mentioned they didn't fix it. Took bike back and they removed the cam chain tensioner which was the issue and placed it back on without a phone call to discuss options, and charged me again. Great bikes, sounds of things bad customer service around the country. Pretty limited here in the south but there's been improvements after dealer ownership changes.

    • @thethrottletube
      @thethrottletube  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would of thought they would of done it under warranty but apparently not. Many emails and calls back and forth to Yamaha via the dealership, and they were avoiding the ACTUAL fix. They did the ECU update twice which obviously didn't do anything, and why would it when it already had that update on it. So that was 2 x pointless trips. But either way.... I'm happy with the bike. Just a shame that such a big brand and dealership couldn't have just done it considering how little it would mean to them financially.
      But hey..... LIFE!

    Straight up, I’m gonna recommend against getting a Ducati, that v2 is a spicy meatball. Dealing with Ducati at least here in Australia was a fucking nightmare, so many issues with a brand new 22 bike, it’s kinda funny when I sold it l, I was looking at an mt09 to replace it. I thought the Yamaha was better 😅 I did find the throttle and fuelling to be a little weird though, ended up with a rebel 1100 and I’m very happy with it.

      @thethrottletube  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I've rode a V2 and it was nice in it own V2 way. Didn't blow me away in terms of power but that's hard to do with an MT09 as a reference 😅. That being said, of course the V2 was FAST! I did see that they are prone to engine seal leaks... currently waiting to here back from a dealership on a 690 SMCR... so let's see. And man, I've got to ride a rebel 1100 at some point. They look awesome!

      @@thethrottletube That was my suspicion that the fuelling wasn’t right from factory, Ducati has shitty fuelling as well from factory to meet emissions.
      That said with a tune there is no way in hell I would go the Ducati over the 09, I think it’s just fomo.
      Maybe try out a Triumph Speed Triple RS or a ZX-10R, I’ve rode the 1200 RR and it was chalk and cheese better than the Ducati.

      My 2022 had a stall problem during slow maneuvering and occasionally in transition from idle during stop and go situations. My dealer reflashed the bike as was called for from Yamaha. Completely solved this issue and seemed to remove most of the snatch tentativeness from the throttle response.
      There is also a recall service bulletin on the O2 sensor connecting wires.
      I am thousands of miles in on my MT09 now without any problems. I am a completely satisfied customer and would buy this bike again with no reservations. I just wish the cruise control had been available on the 2022 models.
