If you first learn bar chords which every beginner should,,,. The 5 major shapes,,often referred to as C-A-G-E-D the inversions are simply breaking those shapes apart into separate string sets. By the way a hot tip,, diminished triad inversions can be played with the same shape just moved up or down every 3 frets! Its unique because its a symetrical triad. Also, dim triads are great over all dominant chords with the root based on the third.

I never understood triads but when I learned CAGED it all made sense
