Velcro was invented in 1941. Swiss engineer George de Mestral noticed how burrs would stick to his dog's fur. Out came the microscope and it was found the burrs had small hooks on the end, and the dog's hair had a natural "loop" to it. That's why you'll also hear Velcro called a "hook and loop" fastener. Interestingly, when your Velcro gets old and won't hold any more, it's the matted "loop," not the hook, that gets worn out.
I have finally made the YT post that is the sum of all my knowledge.

The run up the neck is what clicked for me. I've been playing for 17years or so (minus a few thanks to kids) and have just never been very exploratory around the neck. Back into playing now and having to learn new chord patterns and playing lead on occasion instead of just rhythm, I'm needing all the pointers i can get. The run made sense, now to rewatch and grasp the patterns that make it flow.

Get the basic down. It;s not even that hard to make dim chords
using only 3 fingers ( less the barr)
what if say you can Insert b2.....b3.....b5......b6......b7 chord degree as
      as any kind of chords.
Just get the basic of V into I ( E MAJ or E7 into A MAJOR)
You can also alter the ii and iii into MAJOR.
You;ll just be borrowing chords from F# melodic min
      A Maj....B Maj....C# Maj E Maj into A MAJ..if you wanted to.
      or
      A Maj B7 into E7 into A MAJOR
      or
      A Maj B dim C#7 into F# min ( F# Harmonic min)
You can even use the Full dim H/W scale to make
Major, min, dominant or dim chords every b3 intervals
VAMP it over the V chord as a GUIDE
      E7..........G.............Bb.........C#7
      ..............G.............Bb......................are N6 chords
Notice these the same chords when playing C MAJOR/Amin
You can even play 2, 4, b6, 7 as full dim...( they also overlap in C MAJOR/Amin)
      B........D........F.......G# ( A harmonic MAJOR or A harmonic min)
...................................... F Harmonic min or Gb harmonic MAJOR
.......................................C Harmonic min or Eb harmonic min
Anyway....you can play D min or dim using A Harmonic MAJOR
You dont have to ONLY vamp the full dim H/W over the V
      or...2, 4, b6, 7
Vamp it over the I or the vi
      A MAJOR F# min C min E7 into A MAJOR
C min is b3 from A and tritone of F#
      A MAJOR D min G Min C min E7 into A MAJOR.
There's a millions of other stuff you can do.
You dont have to make funkie chord shapes...KEEP it SIMPLE and EASY
      until your hands/fingers get stronger.
DONT worry if people CANT notate it or site read it
Dont even worry if keyboard players cant different chords outside of major
      scale in whatever keys.

    • @oneeyemonster3262
      @oneeyemonster3262 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@rhllnm If you CANT Make barr chords YET...
      Try playing in E MAJOR/C#min...
Play the chords LESS the barr..like in the lesson
      I.............ii...........iii.............IV..........V...........vi......vii..
      E Maj F#min G# min A Maj...B Maj
Play All these chords..LESS the BARR ROOT on LOW E string.
( 3 outside strings are OPEN)
      play the C# min...root on A string...less the barr.
or Play the Maj triad ( top part of the B MAJ or A MAJOR barr)
      D, G, B strings.
You can play Dance the night away
or Beast of Burden..ect ( just Hammer the B add6 with your pinky)
then slide down to A Maj dyad.
Or you can play the 4 outside strings OPEN.
      Play DYADS...on the D and G string.
      Do simple COUNTING
Play in 4th....the forth note of each MODE
the only one that has #4 is A lydian
      FRET NUMBER
      1st..2nd...4th..6th.. ( 7th fret is A #4)
      using A#4...
      To play D# dim....shuffle your fingers a little..play the F# note on
B string with your middle finger
or make the D MAJOR...cowboy shape...( a string LOWER)
      it's just INVERTED D# dim
Or the top part of B7 Barr chord...at the 7th fret.
or make the D Maj7..BARR at the 5th fret LESS the barr = inverted F# min
.....................E Maj7 BARR at the 7th fret LESS the barr = inverted G# min
      Trying it......D Maj7...E Maj7
Then A maj7 at the NUT ( inverted C# min)

I’ve spent all of February and March learning and practicing moveable major triads and their I IV V changes. I know 20 voicing now because of all the inversions, CAGED and miscellaneous half shapes. It’s been amazing for learning the fretboard notes and intervals. Best thing I’ve ever done. April is going to be all the minor voicings and changes. Should be a cakewalk after laying the groundwork doing the majors.

@@marcoalfredokillyou Ted Greene’s “Chord Chemistry” pages 56-57 and 82-83 for the theory and “Guitar Grimoire Chord Encyclopedia” for chord diagrams. Ted Greene’s chord diagrams are almost useless but the text is fantastic. Definitely get a good chord book that shows the intervals and notes. I made chord diagrams on notecards and spent all February learning every moveable F major chord. Learn the intervals in the chords, not just the shapes. Pay attention to how the inversions work. March I’m practicing all 20 shapes of a different major chord every day and doing the exercises from page 82-83. I feel like I’ve been to guitar bootcamp. April I’m doing the same with minor triads.

Thanks Sean, I've been doing these triads purely by mistake but now you've highlighted the reason these sound so cool! BTW - I've also got Velcro shoes! - Love them, but you can't play sport in them!
