This board looks awsome, and the price is gonna be awsome too. I know this board is overbuilt to deliver stability, but I would love to see a test to find out how necessary those coolings blocks around the cpu are. Some board go crazy on them and I really wonder if it's worth getting or just a gimmick.
something id like to mention those 2 sata pwr connectors on the bored are not for plugin something like an HDD they deliver additional power to the PCI-E slots for a more stable over clock on the PCI-E interfaces if your going to be doing tri/quad SLI/crossfire on the bored one of those connectors needs to be plugged to the PSU and when your over clocking your GPU and PCI-E freq use it to stabilise the voltage when your pushing that way above norm...
looks like someone got ahead of me, I was custom painting a 650d after seeing how nicely the vesta R1 and vesta G1 turned out, i guess DazMode and I got great minds. I'm on the last stage of buffing out the clearcoat as well, just as glossy as the one that DazMode has, if not even better. Im happy finally there is a orange scheme mobo that came out, perfect timing for my built. Will shoot a video on my channel once the case is completely finished.
@Ruis0 I don't get why you'd need any more than there is anyways (esp. if you're a overclocker). USB's - all those fancy high-airflow cases have bunch of front ports; sound - why you'd want ONBOARD sound anyways, VGA/HDMI/DVI - seriously? onboard GPU on a extreme performance system?
@0perativeX not really NF200 chips cause small delays in bandwidth so to get the best possible score you shouldnt really use a board with a NF200 chip on it
> doesn't has 3rd party chips for LAN and audio oh please, Intel PRO/1000 CT (or GT if you have PCI slot which you don't see use for) and Creative SB Titanium HD or ASUS Xonar Essence ST.
@Beaverman20 it still doesn't mean that it supports Xeon CPUs. even if it sayis LGA 1366 some boards only supports some numbers of CPU like SR2 wich only supports Xeon just to point it out. :)
@QuickForceHD I know...personaly I would not buy something related to socket 1366 at time I'll rather wait a moment and get something with better efficiency, performance etc..
@SprintingJesus I was merely trying to point out to you that it may be a good idea to look at how socket 1366 works before expressing your disappointment here. If you don't care about overclocking then why are you watching this board review?
When he said "more exotic cooling" I felt like I'm living in Spain or something, even though I live in Norway! :D Also I was thinking for myself last night why there weren't an opportunity for the motherboard to control the S-ATA power. And now I saw that this can! :D
@QuickForceHD :) it is no problem to wait...i am waiting for nvidia 28nm kepler GPU and 22nm Ivy bridge - i will upgrade whole rig with this faster hardware
(just because you think you know what your doing doesn't mean you shouldn't read the manual) gigabyte x58a-oc 2 tb raid 0, 60g ssd i7 960 base 3.2 ghz clocked to 5.1 HD 6870 X2 crossfire custom cooling
@DelinquentRodent Video rendering maybe? Mainly just to show off. I mean you can play max settings on any game with just a 4ghz i7 and a 6990. You don't need a 5.4GHz 6-core CPU and three way sli 590s. So mainly just to say you're rig is a fucking beast.
5:44 -> this board has a similar cmos battery retainer (is this the right word? sorry, i'm german) like those in the computers at our school. does anyone know how to get the battery out? when i pulled back that metal clip i still couldn't because of those plastic parts still covering it...
@InspPiredD EVGA SR-2, with dual Intel Xeon X5680. 12 cores / 24 threads. I don't think Xeon's are bad for gaming, Intel Xeon has been a name for server computer processor for quite some time. Now Intel is producing them for gaming and speed. ;)
@MusicMan8789 It's not a waste if you put it to good use :) If you don't need to OC then don't, but it's a free upgrade and who says you need to settle with a huge voltage? I like to find an acceptable voltage with still fast frequency. Like say 4.0-4.2 Ghz on i7 with voltage around 1.25-35 If stayed in that range I don't believe the life would be shortened very much at all. This is just for example btw.
@VidsEpic how? it seems like i can only push unless i pull back the clip, then the battery moves forward a little. but i'm still not able to get it out completely :S
@Rickymalheiros I am planning to buy this mobo: Asus M4N68T-M V2 Which has all solid caps, anti-surge protection, core unlocker, EPU, crash free BIOS3 etc. It is low end but has the features that i need ! So whats your opinion on the PSU is the CX500 going to be enough to power this systemwith some slight overclocking?
Great, so in the past I had to run a separate molex power cable... but NOW we need to run a separate SATA power cable. Especially in cases like the HAF X where you route all your needed cables behind the motherboard backplate, and the drive compartment is separate. So excuse me, but *face palm*... the reason you're giving Linus for it being a plus isn't really a plus in all cases. Oh well... we'll see where this leads us in the future. I wonder if we'll see more?
@SprintingJesus If you had the slightest idea of how overclocking works you would know that its way more fun to overclock a 1366 processor, because there are more settings to play with. This board is also useless if you are not even looking at dry ice, if not liquid nitrogen, cooling.
@pccomponetreviewer Well that's weird. I used to have an EVGA Classified E760 mobo - the one without the NF200 chip. Now i'm running a Classified 4-way SLI board with an NF200 chip on it and my games play smoother. Synthetic benchmarks some to come up a little higher in the points section too - not by much but a little higher.
Hello you guys i hope someone can help me. The fan from my psu started to make fail(it's a thermaltake purepower rx 500w),the fan is 14cm(thermaltake tt-1425b),i change the fan with a noiseblocker nb-blacksilentfan xk1.The problem is a just found out is the old fan was a 1400rpm or a 1900rpm nobody knows exactly and it was pushing about 82cfm the new fan i installed is a 800rpm and it pushes 35cfm should i be worried? Thanks i hope someone will answer.
This board is specifically made for Linus, color theme, L.E.D's on the heat sinks and overclocking buttons only for the people who have that kind of chassis :p
@SprintingJesus Excuse me if my original reply sounded condescending, that was unintended. Your 1055T? Now I think I understand your original comment as well - you don't have an Intel based system and that's why you don't like the socket type. No hate involved. If you like overclocking though, you can join one of the many overclockers forums online. Try using dry ice for cooling - its cheap and -80 degrees cold. Yields some good results.
SATA power connectors.... FINALLY. One note: Why the chipsets are iluminated by little white cables and sockets on a black and orange color scheme board? fail...
@schuegrafma i do care about overclocking, i overclocked my 1055T to 4.2 ghz (not showing off, i know its not that impressive) I just dont understand the hate brah
Linus at 4:20 "So if you manage a CPU to pull 1200 Watts you're some kind of Wizard"
Intel: Hold my Beer

@thewizard99 the probes would most likely be built into the mobo considering its a stock heatsink on the board.
@DelinquentRodent It's for world records on both graphical and heavily computational benchmarks
@0perativeX not really
NF200 chips cause small delays in bandwidth so to get the best possible score you shouldnt really use a board with a NF200 chip on it

oh please, Intel PRO/1000 CT (or GT if you have PCI slot which you don't see use for) and Creative SB Titanium HD or ASUS Xonar Essence ST.
@GameGearGuy Corsair or Seasonic 400W or more.
@Beaverman20 Because Xeon is not aimed at an over-clocker or a gamer its more for editors/servers.
You didn't talk about the I/O shield and connectivity. I know it doesn't have much, but would have been nice to at least see it.
I wish more boards had the same color schemes.
I wish there were more boards like this
@Beaverman20 it still doesn't mean that it supports Xeon CPUs. even if it sayis LGA 1366 some boards only supports some numbers of CPU like SR2 wich only supports Xeon just to point it out. :)
@GameGearGuy The 500 is fine, but if you plan to get another video card in the future, i'd recommend the 600 or a 700.
@QuickForceHD I know...personaly I would not buy something related to socket 1366 at time I'll rather wait a moment and get something with better efficiency, performance etc..
@Battery021 i7 are great overclockers. Have you ever had one? 1366 is still the enthusiast platform.
@SprintingJesus I was merely trying to point out to you that it may be a good idea to look at how socket 1366 works before expressing your disappointment here. If you don't care about overclocking then why are you watching this board review?
As an hardcore Habs fan, I must say that I entirely support the Canucks this year and they WILL win the cup!
I miss those gigabyte motherboards
of course, x58 is still comming out with stuff but p55 got shafted by p/h 67. cool!
When he said "more exotic cooling" I felt like I'm living in Spain or something, even though I live in Norway! :D Also I was thinking for myself last night why there weren't an opportunity for the motherboard to control the S-ATA power. And now I saw that this can! :D
@Nopiw Errm... my EVGA Classified 4-Way SLI is an X58 mobo with TWO nf200 chips and supports a ton of x16 PCI-E slots. F*** not having NF200!
Please show us this best in action!
linus missed to review the rear I/O. although there's not much to see.
DFI Lanparty was my brothers first mobo. My first as well.
@QuickForceHD :) it is no problem to wait...i am waiting for nvidia 28nm kepler GPU and 22nm Ivy bridge - i will upgrade whole rig with this faster hardware
(just because you think you know what your doing doesn't mean you shouldn't read the manual)
gigabyte x58a-oc
2 tb raid 0, 60g ssd
i7 960 base 3.2 ghz clocked to 5.1
HD 6870 X2 crossfire
custom cooling
@Beaverman20 Some Xeon's need spesific chipsets such as the 5520 chipset. They run on 1366 socket
@DelinquentRodent Video rendering maybe? Mainly just to show off. I mean you can play max settings on any game with just a 4ghz i7 and a 6990. You don't need a 5.4GHz 6-core CPU and three way sli 590s. So mainly just to say you're rig is a fucking beast.

does this motherboard have to take two cpu power connectors, or could you just use one, when not doing ridiculous overclock?
Can you explain the quad graphics support in 8x 8x 8x mode? What does that mean exactly.
When is the Terabyte X58 motherboard coming out?
@InspPiredD EVGA SR-2, with dual Intel Xeon X5680. 12 cores / 24 threads. I don't think Xeon's are bad for gaming, Intel Xeon has been a name for server computer processor for quite some time. Now Intel is producing them for gaming and speed. ;)

@HansensUniverse you are completely right, but most i7 boards does support them ;) my p6t does...
linux why do you forget that 1366 is also the socket for Xeon?
sata power FTW!!! i have been thinking why they put them on the high end boards for ages its bout time they finished them!
Can point at the front audio and usb ports any harder???
@Rickymalheiros I am planning to buy this mobo: Asus M4N68T-M V2 Which has all solid caps, anti-surge protection, core unlocker, EPU, crash free BIOS3 etc. It is low end but has the features that i need ! So whats your opinion on the PSU is the CX500 going to be enough to power this systemwith some slight overclocking?
Linus, I love you.
@GamerDude197 it's like speeding up your hardware beyond its intended design, although it voids your warranty.
Would look nice with some cougar vortex fans on a H100.
If this mobo is made of overclockers then why it has one button overclock feature?
Why this mobo has so many fan conectors when this mobo will not bi put in a case?
is an i7 960 outdated now? im thinking of a new system and x58 looks like a pretty good option because this motherboard is on amazon for 125 pounds
Great, so in the past I had to run a separate molex power cable... but NOW we need to run a separate SATA power cable. Especially in cases like the HAF X where you route all your needed cables behind the motherboard backplate, and the drive compartment is separate.

@GameGearGuy You could try a Mushkin Volta 650, it's cheap and has good power consumption.
@SprintingJesus If you had the slightest idea of how overclocking works you would know that its way more fun to overclock a 1366 processor, because there are more settings to play with. This board is also useless if you are not even looking at dry ice, if not liquid nitrogen, cooling.
dude why the heck those radiators have power ???
the two radiators have two wires linked to them (like a cooler)
@StealthCN Same thing I thought, I thought it would have the same PCI-E switches like the ASUS Rampage III Extreme.
@Beaverman20 i swear sandy bridge xeons are 1155.?
@landwolf00 990X is an 980X withe 1 more multiplier
@Rickymalheiros Well in that case thanks for all the help dude! I appreciate it! :)
that would go good with the acer predator case
:O the ring is on you other hand ! gz man !
@OldVikingSchool he makes them private until youtube is able to process it...
@LeftCZ it's not out yet so why would we use it???And where would you get the cpu for that socket?
I don't quite understand the onboard SATA power
why no 4 way sli bridge?! I want my 4-way Palit 3gb Gtx 580 setup!
I had to rewind to the io plate to figure out what it had on the back.
@jumperlaur no... He says if you manage to get a cpu to pull ver 1000 watts you are some kind of a wizard
So, if an OC'd CPU wasn't for gaming, what would it be for? I doubt a pro graphics user would OC more than about 4GHz...
How many phases has this beast ? I bet more than my MoBo and VGA combined o.O
Man totally reminds of the DFI boards.
Linus didn't covers the back panel :S
@pccomponetreviewer
Well that's weird. I used to have an EVGA Classified E760 mobo - the one without the NF200 chip. Now i'm running a Classified 4-way SLI board with an NF200 chip on it and my games play smoother. Why are they still developing socket 1366 motherboards, if socket 2011 is out in few months? nonsense?
haha DFI Lan Party boards :P Love the graphics on those old boards!
why does this say released 16hours ago?
no pcie kill switch?
YOU FORGOT TO GO THROUGH THE BACK PANEL, CAPITAL LETTERS!
i have intel 990x and gigabyte x58a-oc. everybody keep saying you have to make overclock. any suggestions for that? is it worth to try it or not?
Please Linus, we want a video of you overclocking i7-980X on this board to 5GHz or more!
How many fan headers?
u didnt look at the rear I/0
change ur cloth?
Is there one of theese MB for AMD Processors?
@pero1000000000 not now, but it is possible to wait for a short time
@schuegrafma ok no worries about the original reply, ill try out dry ice as well :) thanks
Hello you guys i hope someone can help me.

You forgot to go tell us about back I/O connectors.
could I overwrite the drivers?
This board is specifically made for Linus, color theme, L.E.D's on the heat sinks and overclocking buttons only for the people who have that kind of chassis :p

why are they still doing LGA1366(X58)
Make LGA2011 come faster(X??)
EPIC. I'd love to have a custom build computer with this in it :(
Canucks? He lives in Vancouver?
srry to brag but why cant you reveiw intel, asrock, biostar, and other boards?
i thought he forgot the matte black PCB
such a sexy board! but i would never have a need for such board.
SATA power connectors.... FINALLY.
One note: Why the chipsets are iluminated by little white cables and sockets on a black and orange color scheme board? fail...
You forgot the I/O Ports!
@LeftCZ Why not I migh unlock it to a phenom LOL!!! And I'm completely satisfied with a triple core!
@schuegrafma i do care about overclocking, i overclocked my 1055T to 4.2 ghz (not showing off, i know its not that impressive)
I just dont understand the hate brah
@Beaverman20 linuX forgot Xeon.. his name is not linux but linus ;)
Manual focus camera man! It's better. Sweet mb
