We tried Detroit style pizza in Detroit, hopefully this was authentic Detroit pizza….Let us know if it was!
This looks exactly like my homemade Detroit style (the first place you went to). The only thing is that I don't have easy access to Wisconsin "Brick" cheese, which is I believe the traditional cheese for Detroit-style pizza. Instead I use a 50/50 blend of mozzarella and muenster. It's still absolutely delicious. That cheese crown is the best part, lol.
The secret of the dough is high hydration, at least 70% (I usually go for 75%). That's what makes it super fluffy and airy instead of chewy and dense.
Is that the pink panther theme in the background???
I used to be a chef in Boston. You guys are missing out on the East coast. Connecticut for pizza and Maine for lobster. Watch Mark Weins tour of New Haven and Maine for the lobster
Only the tourists use a knife and fork. 44 years of deep dish an never used a knife and fork
Make sure to try some white pizza in NY as well.
Detroit Style Pizza is so underrated imo
we totally agree! Detroit style pizza is a hidden gem. Thanks for watching
it's starting to catch on. we have 3-4 spots here in oakland california. I went out to detroit last summer and had it at loui's -- reminded me of eating pizza as a kid in the early 90s.
Definitely my favorite, and I'm not biased. From Louisiana, where we have no regional pizza style... which honestly surprises me because New Orleans has a lot of Italians.
As a Chicagoan i think it’s the best pan/thick pizza. And it’s all over the country (in Chicago not counting jets theirs like 20 spots now)
I agree but there is something extraordinarily special about New Haven pizza that makes it the clear number 1 here. Honestly can’t believe it only received 6% of the casted votes.
The little burnt lace edge is GREAT!
Yes, Done correctly it really adds to the flavor!
So few people come to Detroit, MI to visit and try our food. Thank you for visiting and I hope you had a wonderful time!
The beauty of Detroit style pizza is you don't have to use a knife and fork as you would with a Chicago style.
The topping is definitely not in danger of sliding off. 😀
Chicago deep-dish is a “lasagna pizza” hybrid.
You don't have to use a knife and fork with deep dish, it's just easier when it's really hot. I've picked up a loaded Malnati's slice and eaten by hand.
That's not beautiful at all.
Detroit style is phenomenal. That cheesy crust in the edge is soooo good, lol. 👍
Right? That cheesy crust is like a little slice of heaven! Thanks for watching
I grew up in Tennessee in the ‘70s, when pizza wasn’t easily available in any form. My dad lived in Detroit as a kid in the ‘50s, before moving back to Tennessee. When I was a kid he would always talk about the pizza he had when he was a kid “up north.” I lived in New York and New Jersey in my 20s and 30s and never experienced the pizza he described. I was in Detroit a few years ago and finally realized what he was talking about. Really exceptionally good pizza.
Thank you for sharing your personal pizza journey with us. It's heartwarming to hear how food can connect generations.
Thanks for visiting Detroit we hope you had a good time.
It was Great!! We had an really fun time! We just wish we would have had more time there to explore.
I'm so impressed with Nicola eating straight tomatoes....wtf?!
Yay! 😀
I love the look of that pizza! Perfect crispy brown not burnt edges.
They were all great! The edges were perfectly crispy. 😀
That's what makes Detroit style different. The crust at the end is the very best part! My family used to fight over the corner pieces. 😂
Thank you for coming to Detroit. I hope you had a good visit!
We had a great time in Detroit! but it was only a short visit. We would love to come back and spend more time exploring! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for coming to Detroit! We definitely take our pizza seriously.
As a former Buddy's pizza maker/trainer, that awesome crust comes from the dough being stretched in the pan with oil. When it goes through the oven the crust is essentially getting fried, giving that delicious crispy cheese along the edge, and the color/texture on the bottom.
On that note, this was not Buddy's best showing, it should have been deeper. You have to prep dough in pans early so it has time to warm and rise. From the sag in the middle I'd guess that dough was prepped later in the day and didn't have enough time to rise after the second stretch, or prepped early and stuck in a cooler with the same result. Bit of a bummer, but I'm glad you both got to check out Detroit style!
The caramelized cheese on the edges is, in fact, the best part about Detroit pizza.
So glad you appreciate the cheesy goodness on the edges. Thanks for watching
Detroit style is my favorite style of pizza. Its deceiving. I love that I don't feel like I'm stuffed after eating it. It's airy and not so compacted.
Your right! Detroit style pizza is very good! It's like a sneaky, delicious treat that doesn't weigh you down!
the caramelized crust is the best on Detroit style especially if they used Brick cheese from Wisconsin
Yes, The caramelized crust if done correctly it really adds to the flavor!
I grew up in Detroit and it's the BEST pizza!!
Thanks for sharing!
Nicola, put down that knife and fork, girl, and "tuck in" like you mean it, lol! Man those looked good. I probably would've chosen the same one because I love garlic!
😂🤣
How do Brits put it? “Get stuck in?” 😂
@@chaddnewman2699 it's not STUCK, lol.
I was wondering if I was the only person who wanted her to put the silverware down and just get her hands in there....lol
@@jgibson1970 LOL!
The Detroit pizza look delectable, quality, and cruchy. It actually reminds me of the Pizza Hut's franchise when their pizza use to be succulent. However- I immensely like your British infectious cogenial accents and authentic analysis of the foods. Your opposite perspectives are complimentary of your online camera chemistry.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the Detroit pizza review and our different takes on the food.
I'm from Detroit... and I'm getting older, every day! When I was in Grade School, maybe in the late 1950's or early 1960's, I went to school with another boy, whose father (and Grandfather) were the original Founders of Buddy's! I have loved Buddy's pizza, my whole life... I don't think that will ever change... but I do also love the place at Michigan and Trumble, and a few others. Over the years, everyone (even the national chains that service the Detroit communities) off a pizza in the "Detroit Style."
That is so cool! Honestly they were all so good. 😀 Detroit style pizza is amazing.
Detroit 🍕 is a unique style and as a born and raised 313 it is a great pie.
Hey Brits, I just wanted to let you know how much I love your channel!
Your enthusiasm for America and it's foods is infectious. I am an American and suddenly, I want to join in the adventure travelling to these places and try the same foods.
You are also such a sweet and fun couple. Keep up the great work and best wishes for you both!
Thank you so much for your kind words!! This comment has made our evening... THANK YOU!
Thanks for coming to Detroit! All the pizzas you tried are authentic. Eat them however you like ;)
I have family who live in Detroit and I have tried Detroit style pizza. My uncle and his sons (who worked for General Motors and Ford) says that on a full pepperoni pizza, has two red stripes that run parallel to each other indicative of the Ford VS. Ferrari race at LeMans.
That's cool! Who would've thought there was a pizza connection to a legendary race like Ford vs. Ferrari at LeMans? Thanks for sharing this fun tidbit!
I’m from Chicago so there’s a special place in my heart for deep dish. Make no mistake though, there are good pizzas in all of the regional varieties, and Detroit style is fantastic. Good dough and fresh ingredients is the common denominator.
Totally agree! Detroit pizza was delicious! Pizza brings us all together with its yummy varieties.
I'm laying in bed choking on my own saliva watching this 😂
😂🤣
They went to the Buddies tourist location. The key to Buddies pizza is the cast iron pans they have been using since the 40s. Cast iron pans get seasoned the more you use them adding a deep favor. That location doesn't have the original cast iron pans. It opened in 2016. Locals go to The Original Conant location in the hood for a Buddies pizza.
Thanks for sharing this interesting insight about Buddies pizza, We didn't know they were not all the same. Thanks for the info and the history behind their cast iron pans!
THANK YOU! The one on Conant is the BEST
I actually said ooooo out loud when I saw that Detroit pizza. It looks goood. I’ve never had it. As an American AND a TEXAN, I’m starting to get jealous of British TH-camrs taking all our food! 😆😋
I live in Detroit recently visited Austin TX and they have bout 6 pizza places called via313 pizza and it is legit Detroit style
Don't worry they'll take it and not do anything with it. That's kind of what the Brits do. They controlled India for how many years?! :P
Thank you for your kind words about the pizza! it was delicious! Let us know if there is anything else we should try?
Thanks for the suggestion!
Don’t be jealous, Detroit is probably one of the cheapest vacations you could visit for a couple of days. Try our food, check out some of the local breweries if you’re into that sort of thing and check out downtown or the museums.
Then of course try the pizza, Buddy’s or Cloverleaf. Buddy’s was the original that made it famous, Cloverleaf was started by the guy who made Buddy’s famous. He sold the original location downtown along with the recipe, then he moved just outside the city where he opened up another bar and pizzeria. He used the same recipe for Cloverleaf, but changed the names to avoid legal troubles and his family still owns and operates it. My favorite at Buddy’s is their “Margherita” which they also have at Cloverleaf where they call it “Bruschetta.”
If I’m staying home, I get delivery from Jet’s pizza because their sauce is amazing. Their hand tossed round pizzas are great, but something magical happens in those square trays with their deep dish that’s amazing.
Also, you should check out some Coney Dogs while you’re in town. They’re another Detroit original, and the best two places are literally next door to one another. The first one is called American Coney Island and next door is Lafayette.
There are decent coney restaurants all over Metro Detroit, but the original two places have a particular vibe and history.
I’ll throw out an honorable mention for the third Detroit original dish that was invented by an absolute mad lad/culinary genius. That would be our Corned Beef Egg rolls. There’s lots of places that sell them, and I’m not sure which place starred it but they’re amazing. I also recommend the egg rolls with Pastrami as well. They sometimes serve them with sweet and sour sauce or duck sauce, but I prefer more mayo based condiments.
We also have amazing Polish food in Hamtramck as well as the best Mediterranean food in Dearborn.
Detroit gets a bad rap from people who don’t live here, but folks are all extremely friendly and we’re spoiled for having some of the best food in the Midwest.
My favorite is Chicago tavern style, which, you guys didn’t have, but, honestly most pizzas are good if they’re freshly made. Each has a place.
💯
Sounds like we need to plan another trip back to Chicago! to give it a try. Thanks for watching
@@thebritstryyes! I wish you would have tried Chicago tavern style. It’s more what we Chicagoans actually eat as pizza goes. Thinner crust, always cut in squares, not slices. Try Pat’s!
Pie Sci is the science of pizza, not a play on Sci-Fi. They even have a Science Lab, which features weekly experiments in pizza.
Their Detroit style game is weak though.
Pie Sci is more than just pizza - it's a whole pizza science lab! So cool to see them experimenting with different toppings. Thanks for watching
The sauce on top of the pizza is done in 2 stripes which represents when Ford beat Ferrari.
The twin stripes on the gt40 right?
@@stevep2380 yes
The problem is that Detroit style was reinvented, I'm 66 years old, and the first was founded even before that. Most places were invented for the lunch pail, so square was best, when I was a kid we used to go to The Cloverlief Italian style restaurant. During the day men working at FORD could get a slice wrapped in a piece of tin foil. The did it closer to normal style, another words; dough, sauce, pepperoni, olives, onions, and cheese to the edge. The edge being the best part, by being on a hot assembly line meant your slice was going to be hot. Even in the dead of winter, you would know what I meant just standing on an assembly line for a moment. Good or bad thing was there weren't many mom and pop pizza shops yet, so going home on your payday you could take your family out, and it didn't have to be pizza. 😊
Thank you so much for the detailed information! its great to hear the history behind and the traditions behind it. We visited the Ford Museum, while in Detroit and it was really good!
Thanks for coming to Detroit. Hope you enjoy our City. Be safe and happy travels. Big fan! ❤👏👏👏👏
Thank you! Will do!
Nicola, in Detroit we eat pizza with our hands
Next time I will eat it with my hands! 😂🤗
That’s the pretty standard method of eating all but the deep-dish Chicago pizza everywhere here in the US. We can always clock a tourist when observing someone go for the flatware while preparing to devour a slice! 😂
So yes, the classic Detroit style pizza typically comes topped with two stripes of tomato sauce to pay homage to Fords victory at Le Mans in 66’ to resemble the stripes on the Ford GT40.
That is amazing! We had no idea. 😀
If you are going to New York City, you should also check out New Haven, Connecticut, if you have the time, as they have been often rated as the top pizza despite being in a smaller city. The two big names there are Frank Pepe's and Sally's. Love your takes on food in the US!
Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely add New Haven to my list for the next food adventure.
@thebritstry i forgot to add Modern Pizza. Possibly the best of the bunch.
Ain't no pizza like a Detroit pizza cuz a Detroit pizza don't quit!
The Pizza was delicious in Detriot!! Which pizza shop is your favorite?
You guys are great, keep it up.
Thank you so much for the kind words! It means a lot. we have our NYC Pizza video uploading this Saturday
Detroit is my home town. Glad you enjoyed the visit. I enjoyed watching you. BTW Detroit style adds brick cheese (origins from Wisconsin) and that is what browns so nicely along the edge. Like Andrew, the burnt sides are my favorite part.
BTW: I recommended your YT channel to the "BLANKS No One Asked For". They asked for YT channel recommendations they can collaborate with. Since they are a bunch of guys in North Carolina trying UK foods and snacks and you are Brits trying US foods, I figured it would be a good match.
Thanks for the info!😀
A bit of sports history behind the name of that first restaurant, as well: the corner of Michigan and Trumbull is where Tiger Stadium used to be before the baseball team built and moved to the new Comerica Park. Ernie Harwell, the longtime radio voice of the Tigers, would welcome listeners to each home game "at the corner of Michigan and Trumbull." Just about every Michigander who was around before the move knows that phrase quite well!
Thank you for sharing this interesting tidbit of history! It's always cool to learn about the connections between sports and local landmarks. Thanks for watching
Told yah :-) Buddy's looks to have the most legit pepperoni of the three. When cooked properly it deforms into a "cup" with fatty pepperoni oil pooling in the "cup" and crispy perimeter.
Thanks! Keep the suggestions coming. 😀
Its cup and char pepperoni not so much that its cooked right its that its a different kind of pepperoni. You can buy it and put it on a microwaveable pizza and it will still cup. I have had some that wasn't so good before though that tasted more like salami that cup and char pepperoni.
@@JesseLJohnson It's partially the thickness isn't it?
@@Trapper50cal no. the cupping comes from using natural casings which shrink when cooked.
I could sum up the flavor for anyone who hasn’t tried these pizzas. Butter. The bread tastes like butter, the cheese tastes like butter, the pepperoni is salty and caked in butter, and even the sauce is creamy and butter like
I didn't see your poll! Anyway you also have to try New Haven, CT pizza
Detroit pizza is usually called deep dish pizza. The edges aren't burnt. They are crispy cheese. Glad you tried Buddy's pizza.
Thanks for the clarification on Detroit pizza terminology! Buddy's pizza was really good. Thanks
Born and raised in Detroit and I'm 62. I've never heard of our pizza called deep dish. We've just said that it's square pizza.
This is my favorite style of pizza. The way they get the bottom crispy is they put oil in the pan, so it's basically fried bread. Just a little vocab note - we call the whole thing the crust, not just the edges, that goes for any type of pie. Also the cheese isn't burnt, it's caramelized.
I appreciate your attention to detail and the vocab lesson! It's great to learn new things about pizza. Crust it is! Thanks for watching
Detroit Pizza is probably descended from a type of Sicilian Pizza which was very bready and rectangular. It was called sfinciuni, and I have no idea how to pronounce that.lol.Alot of commercial American pizzas use Asiago, which is a very pungent cheese compared to mozzarella.Mozzarella has a nice milky taste when fresh.
Thanks for sharing these interesting pizza facts! It's always fun to learn more about the origins of our favorite foods. Thanks for the comment. which is your favorite style?
@@thebritstry Detroit style is like what I make at home.
“Detroit style” is also Sicilian style just like my Nona and all of her sister in laws used to make. You spread a light layer of olive oil on the pan to get the crispy base.
Oh wow! We feel that we need to go to Sicily now to try it. 😀
I was thinking that too. They're just trying to take credit for reproducing a Sicilian pizza 😅
I love the story behind Detroit pizza. It's so distinct from New York and Chicago. My winner is Chicago pizza. The herbs are perfect, the sauce is thick ad spicy and the longer cooking time gives the flavors time to meld together beautifully. Giordano's is THE place. My mother and father in law own Renaissance Faires and we'd absolutely take over the place after a long day and hoover the pizza. Hunger is the best sauce, but nothing will ever be a better pizza to me.
Thanks for sharing your Preference and your wonderful Memories! Sounds like we need to head back to to try Giordano's. New York Pizza Video is being uploaded on Saturday.
Detroit ❤❤❤ Thanks for the love. We have the best pizze
Detroit area resident here. Detroit Style is more like a Fruit Pie thickness whereas Chicago Deep Dish is more like Birthday Cake thickness. Chicago also has a very thin style called Tavern Style. Yes, Buddy's is the original, but I don't think they are the best. Michigan and Trumbell is named after the intersection where the old Tiger Stadium (where the major league baseball team The Detroit Tigers used to play) was located. It is Much better than Buddy's. Pie Sci and many other places (such as Jets Pizza) have the "Detroit Style" crust, but then a more "traditional" top with the sauce then mozzarella cheese then toppings. It's good, but not "real" Detroit Style. Detroit Style pizzas that also are better than Buddy's can be found just north of Detroit in nearby cities Hazel Park (Loui's Pizza,) and Royal Oak (Palazzo Di Pizza.) Thanks for sharing! ~Be Blessed
Thank you for your detailed insights on Detroit Style pizza! It's always great to hear from a local expert. Thanks for the comment.
Buddy's quality isn't what it used to be. Apparently the business was sold to a private equity group in 2019 and I can tell the difference since then.
The fact that you're eating pizza with a fork & knife 😳 you might have to be arrested. 😂😂😂
😂
This is the reason I couldn't finish the video 😂
@@kab1341 😂
Lol! sorry we will grab it next time with both hands
Sorry!
👍, We had a Buddy's Pizza last night. They're so filling, We had half of it for lunch today.
We are so Jealous! Pizza for lunch, pizza for dinner, sounds perfect!
Omg the crispy cheese looks divine 😋
It was so good!😀
Very much a fan of Detroit style.I love Deep Dish and it has it's place, but I can eat Detroit Style every day while Deep Dish feels like its a once every other month or so kinda pizza.
Detroit style pizza every day sounds like a dream! Deep Dish is more of a special treat, Thanks for watching!
As a metro Detroiter, I'm thrilled to see your reaction to our amazing pizza. I do feel the need to point out, however, that the original Detroit style is Cloverleaf, not Buddy's. They have a connection to each other but Cloverleaf was the original and in my opinion the best in Detroit. Also, the Buddy's you went to in Downtown Detroit (and any of their franchises) can't compare to the original Buddy's location on Conant in Detroit. The original Buddy's for whatever reason is far superior to its other locations.
I'm from the Detroit area and I tell you, you just had some of the best pizza Detroit has to offer!
Yay we are glad to hear this!
Buddy’s has the best pizza in the Detroit area. It’s the different cheeses they use that make the difference. Jet’s is almost as good in the Detroit area. Love you two!❤
From Detroit, I love our pizza, so glad you got to try it!! Buscemi's party stores also sell pizza slices. It's usually where I go to get slices since they're everywhere.
Nah man, Mr. C's for the win for the best party store pizza.
@@JenniferKlumppthis is the most Detroit/Michigan exchange you could have possibly had on the subject. Folks who aren’t from here don’t actually know what a “Party Store” is! lol
It’s as “Pure Michigan” as calling something a “door wall” or drinking pop, like Vernor’s or Fargo Rock N Rye.
I lived in Michigan all my life and I would suggest going to the upper peninsula! It’s untouched and pristine!
Good review guys, love your channel.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it!😀
Visually, I'm going to say you guys made the right choice. I've yet to visit Michigan and Trumbull, but I've cooked professionally for over 30 years in Michigan and have tried a great deal of pizzas in the area, and have developed a Detroit-style pie of my own that does very well. That said, visually, the Michigan and Trumble pie looks absolutely off the charts! Perfectly caramelized edges. The sauce looks thick and caramelized. Great topping distribution. That cup pepperoni looks top-tier. Great pull on the mozz. Whoever developed this pizza REALLY knows their stuff. Hats off to their chef.
Wow, your description of our pizza has us craving a slice! we appreciate your support and hope you a chance to try Michigan and Trumbull soon! . Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts!
I love the way Nicola say oregano!!😊
Thank you for noticing that! Nicola has a unique way of pronouncing oregano.
Thanks for the uplift after a tough day. Thanks for hitting my hometown of Detroit. Brick cheese is an American cheese. If you want to buy truly excellent preserves and jams try Michigan company called American spoon. You can order on line. The lemon curd is the best ever. But they also have a great fig, Marionberry and more.
Ah you are very welcome! We hope your days start to feel better.
Then come to Maine in the summer and buy a ticket to Cabbage Island for the lobster feast. I think it's $55 per person which includes the boat ride to the island. Mark Weins and Sunny from Best food review show
The seafood in Maine is amazing, they do lobster right!
That sounds like an amazing experience! Maine in the summer and a lobster feast on Cabbage Island, we will definitely check it out.
At buddies they put the dough in the pan and then the cheese. Then it’s kept in a cooler until needed. What happens is the dough and cheese commingle into a bread/cheese crust.
Detroit-style is my favorite
Thank you for sharing your love for Detroit-style! we loved it too! Thanks for watching
I was just at Michigan & Trumbull and ordered this exact combination. I loved the pizza. I think I preferred the white sauce pizza.
That's amazing! The pizza was delicious.. That white sauce pizza with garlic is really good!
I know this is a pizza review but if you ever come back to Detroit and go to Buddy’s you have to get the antipasto salad. Fricking amazing! Glad you liked the Detroit style pizza. Just had some Jets deep dish for dinner last night.
I am happy to see the love you two have
I love tomatoes and also charred cheese but I still think this analysis is so fun! Good for you two going on a trip like this and exploring things you enjoy together. An inspiration to all of us!
Thank you so much for your kind words! We love sharing our adventures and passion for food with all of you.
Buddy's ,jets and Shields those other places never heard of born here 57 yrs
I live in Chicago and I eat Detroit style pizza a lot. I might eat Detroit style pizza once every 2 or 3 weeks. I usually eat 1 Chicago Deep Dish pizza each year. Anyone that lives in or around Chicago always says Tavern Style pizza is the way to go and what we usually eat over here. Deep dish is usually what tourists get when they come to Chicago because it is different
Thanks for sharing! It's always interesting to see the local pizza preferences in different cities!
I don’t know about the shape of the pan in Detroit. Here in NYC the thick, square pizza is known as “Sicilian” and the round pies are “Neapolitan” or “regular.” Fun fact; the “white” pizza was named “Margarita” after an Italian noblewoman who preferred a sauceless slice that was prepared especially for her in Naples.
That's a cool pizza history lesson! New York and Detroit have their own unique pizza styles for sure. Thanks for watching
Well, in Detroit “Margherita” pizza has red sauce, with tomato, basil and mozzarella. So, we obviously do our own thing-hence the reason we don’t call it Sicilian.
From here checks out detroit style is the best by far. Dont get me wrong i love ny n chicago style to. But if i can only have 1 for the rest of my life utll be detroit style
Don't forget to stop in Buffalo to try the pizza there!
Also can do a chicken wing and Beef on Weck video while you're there.
Detroit style uses Wisconsin brick cheese, which is different than mozzerella, but similar in melting quality, softness and creamy texture.
You guys are living the dream! I love it!
Thank you so much for your kind words! We having fun! It means a lot to hear that you're enjoying our content.
If we have leftover, we usually heat the slice in a pan on the stove over low heat for about 10-15 min until it crunches up again.
Thanks for the advice! that's a great tip!
Thank you guys again another great video… I did comment that Detroit is my favorite. I should’ve clarified it is for deep dish however I know where you’re going and if I want traditional crust thin New York every time by the way, we all pick up our pizza.😂😊
Thanks for watching!😀 We are glad you enjoyed the video. 😀
Lived in the Detroit area 50 years. Literally never knew there was a "Detroit Style" pizza until about 2 or 3 years ago. It was just pizza. Now I get it, and I have to admit to a bit of regional pride! 😊
It is a great style of pizza, and so delicious 😀
@@thebritstry so happy you liked it! Hopefully you toured the area and loved it as much as we do!

missed you all
I love detroit pizza because of the crust and its crispy crunchy! Most pizza I end up feeding the crust to the dog! Lol!
Sauce on the top for Detroit style pizza.
I'm not sure if this is currently true but the Detroit metro area is locally known to have the highest per-capita density of pizza restaurants in the world. I do not live in a particularly populated area, and I have 4 pizza restaurants within walking distance, plus the local grocery store also has some really good hot pizza I can grab on the go. It's also pretty much mandatory for any local bar that has a kitchen that they serve pizza.
On that note, another food style the Detroit area is fairly well-known for is the very good quality Middle-Eastern foods due to the large population of middle-east immigrant families.
It's still weird seeing people review the kind of pizza we got in the cafeteria in high school. I never knew how spoiled we were. 😂
I’ve never been so proud of being a Detroit bby
That cheese pull is ridiculous 😋
So ridiculously good!🤗
You guys need to try New Haven style Pizza 😋
Sounds like we need to plan another trip to New Haven! to give it a try. Thanks for watching
Great three choices for your baseline. There are a few more that would make my list but solid, solid list. Loui's makes my favorite detroit style. Pizza Connection makes my favorite BLT. Green Lantern's deep dish is a cool hybrid that I really enjoy but be ready for dough because it is thiccc. An honorable mention is Little Ceasars Deep Dish. Go in thinking you are getting a hot and ready. It makes that deep dish even better. Little Ceasars makes a above average pie if you spend the money on the deep dish.
I absolutely love watching your videos. You guys remind me of my mom and dad in the absolute best way possible. Even though i may be the same age as you guys are, it feels like an insight of what my parents were like at our age. If that makes sense.😂 keep it going guys!
Thank you so much for your kind words! We're glad our videos resonate with you. Thanks for watching!
You two make me happy.
Thanks for you very kind comment! Thanks for watching
That looked so good
Oh it was so good! 😀
I swear I could have pizza for every meal the rest of my life and die happy. Particularly the excellent slices I was raised on during my formative years in Brooklyn. I hope they travel to arguably the best borough of NYC during their visit, particularly out to Bensonhurst or Cobble Hill. These are among the oldest Italian enclaves in the city and where the heart of the pizza beats loudest (and in my humble opinion, by far the best!). 😂
I'm a thin pizza guy. But Detroit is good too.
Same. Give me a paper thin crust (that snaps when folded) and just the right balance of cheeses and sauce. I could expound extemporaneously at great length, extolling the joy of this Italian taste treat! Lol 😂
Thanks for watching! we have a New york pizza video coming out on Saturday.
I'm in Michigan but I've never heard of Pie Sci It looks really good.
What were said; was much Needed.😊😊 Thanks
Thanks for watching. 😀
@@thebritstry my pleasure
Good to see that you are moving up the pizza chain. The worst Detroit pizza is better than the highest-rated swill you that will find in Chicago.
It's all about personal preference when it comes to pizza, Thanks for watching
I hope you try both Sicilian style and the traditional slice in NYC.
They will definitely notice the difference using NYC water makes. It’s among the best tasting water in the country and it does something special when used in any baked product.
Thanks for the advice! our New York Pizza video is uploading today!

Thank you so much for your kind words! we are glad you enjoyed the video. It really was delicious
I had Buddy’s for the first time a few weeks ago when I was in MI. I love their sauce. But next time I am there I will need to try Michigan and Trumbull.
So glad you enjoyed Buddy's sauce! Michigan and Trumbull is a must-visit next time. Let us know how it compares!
