It's a cool bike but for a struggling brand that's benefitting from very cheap chinese and indian work the price is outrageous. This type/size of bike is essentially a toy, if we're honest. The masses aren't buying super motos to commute or tour on, they're aimed at younger folk who ride in urban areas looking for fun - which is great... motorcycling should be fun and young people should be encouraged to join in... but at that price the target customer cannot afford this bike. Sure a minority will be able to but equally a small number will also consider stealing them as they feel they will never afford one. Price gouging, like KTM always seem to, harms everyone.

Thats so crazy, here in germany and austria everyone is hating this bike (looks like a duke with some plastics, not a supermto) becouse we want a light supermoto with slim design, like excs or a beta lc125, aprilia 125x. But when i read the comments everyone from other countrys like the bike, explain to me why?

Also ich find sie ehrlich gesagt nicht hässlich, also klar sieht der Auspuff unten nicht so geil aus und der Tank ist auch Gewöhnungsbedürftig aber ansonsten ist sie safe ein geiles Bike. Die Modelle nächstes Jahr sind ja dann vielleicht überarbeitet und sehen geil aus😅😂

Buying Husky snd Gas Gas is one of the reasons KTM is going bankrupt. We don't need three rebranded versions of every bike. Consolidate it all under the KTM brand and offer a few different color options for people who don't like orange.

@@lifepolicy dude.. Husqvarna is about the name and the incarnation of owning one. We agree Husqvarna exists only cause to KTM and props to that. Never liked the KTMs as much I loved Huskies. For example when I purchased my emtb I chose Husqvarna over Ktm even though it was maybe the same, from same manufacter blabla.. Same would go for a brand new 401 if it is gonna exist. Though the new 390sm is a blast and thank God KTM listened their customers.
it would be the exact sams bike, but in white... I own a 701 and everything is exact same exact colour and some plastic parts, but the routing of the cables over the light-mask is stupid, but KTM doesnt have it... It scratches everything and the mask is expensive AF
As an owner of a 2024 390 Duke, I know that this will be an amazing bike….but for me it won’t justify taking the loss on my Duke to trade into one just yet.
How is it possible that this company is going under when they can do stuff like this!? This is literally what the market has been needing for years, a small cpacity, affordable super motard done right. I love my Vitpilen so much, but this looks like it would be the most epic daily. I think I"m going to have to try work out how to afford one but it puts me in a very hard position, the Vitipilen will no doubt be a future classic and it awesome to ride but this would be soo much fun right now.

They're in trouble because they got spread too thin, buying up companies and selling multiple rebranded versions of the same bike, instead of focusing on what thet do best. Also, recent reliability problems in the China made bikes. Hopefully they can get their shit together, because this bike (and it's adv cousins) look rad! I just paid for the new duke 390 delivery was supposed to happen for 7 Jan 2025. But the dealership made a scratch on bike before delivery so I asked for another bike and now still they haven't got new bike I've paid full money.@@KTM

@ I'm just guessing. It probably cost more to engineer the duke engine into an mx frame than it does to modify the angles on the duke fame for supermoto use. Personally, I'd rather see an mx frame as well. It's not a supermoto if it's not an mx frame.

This is a great engine for a supermoto. I have the husqvarna svart 401, same engine, and it’s extremely playful. If this is significantly lighter than the husky/duke (360lbs) it will have an insane power to weight ratio.

Ich möchte mal ein bisschen Feedback da lassen, weil ich schon immer KTM Fan war. Ich finde die Maschine an sich sehr hübsch, vor allem das vieles in schwarz beschichtet wurde, halte ich für richtig. Die Front sieht klassisch aber modern aus, besser als die Duke Scheinwerfer. Das Tankdesign ist leider auch nicht meins und ich finde die Leistung für eine 400er im Jahre 2025 nicht mehr Zeitgemäß. Fahrbereit 160kg auf 33kw. Warum wiegt das Bike mehr als eine 690er, mehr Elektronik? Ich finde das Bike wirklich cool, aber ich würde es mir trotzdem nicht holen. Ist echt schwer zu Beschreiben, ist halt oftmals eine Gefühlssache. Vielleicht ist es auch genau das was KTM aktuell Schwierigkeiten bereitet, die Bikes sind super solide und man macht nichts falsch damit, aber es lockt halt auch niemanden mehr Emotional von Zuhause los sich solch eine Maschine im Laden anzuschauen. Trotzdem wünsche ich aber KTM viel Erfolg mit dem Bike! Liebe Grüße
Leider darf das Motorrad nicht leichter sein. 0,2kW pro Kilogramm müssen es sein, damit die für die A2 Klasse zugelassen ist... 33kW durch 160 kg ergibt glatt 0,2kw/kg. Aus diesem Grund darf die SMC-R gedrosselt auch nur 32 kW haben und nicht die vollen 35 kW.
@ Naja sie dürfte schon bis zu 70kW haben, sie müsste dann nur von KTM auch in einer gedrosselten Version existieren für A2. Klar das lohnt sich kaum bei 400ccm, aber das ist auch wieder einer dieser Gründe. Dann kaufe ich mir lieber eine gedrosselte Maschine und fahre diese dann nach zwei Jahren offen, vor allem dann wenn ich mir ein nagelneues Bike bestelle, würde ich nicht nach zwei Jahren schon wieder wechseln wollen, anders vielleicht als bei einer Gebrauchten. Holst du dir die Maschine? Freunde sagen irgendwie das Selbe, cool aber würden sie sich nicht holen.
@@TheShezer Ich würd mir auch direkt ein Motorrad kaufen das man drosseln kann, ist klar. Nur sind die Kosten bei solchen Motorrädern meist deutlich höher. Die 690er ohne Promotion kostet halt gleich das doppelte als die 390 SMC-R (zumindest in der Schweiz). Aber dafür muss man dann für mehr Leistung auch nicht nach einer neuen Maschine suchen. Kommt halt drauf an wie viel Geld man zur Verfügung hat :) Ich Arbeite in der Schweiz als Motorradmechaniker bei einer KTM Vertragswerkstatt. Die Nachfrage, vor allem bei den 125 Sumos, ist extrem da. Deswegen denk ich schon dass KTM mit diesem Model viele Kunden anlocken wird. Gibt ja auch keine grosse Auswahl... Der Preis ist schon extrem gut. Die 125er von Yamaha mit Jahrgang 2025 sind teurer als die KTM 125er. Hätte man auch nie erwartet... Ob ich mir die kaufen würde? Eher nicht, da ich mich schon seit 2016 an die Leistung der 1290er gewöhnt habe. Ein so extremes Downgrade in diesem Sinne käme bei mir nicht in Frage. Für 18 Jährige die Frisch den A2 Schein haben und nicht die Kohle von den Eltern in den Ar... geschoben bekommen, sehe ich die 390er als geiles Anfänger Motorrad :) Aber freue mich schon auf die erste Fahrt mit ihr. Spass macht diese bestimmt.
@ Ich hoffe es sehr für KTM und drücke die Daumen, dass die Maschine sich wie geschnitten Brot verkauft. Mit 20 hätte ich wohl eher zur EXC gegriffen, einfach weil sie mich emotionaler mehr abholt. Da hab ich es auch in Kauf genommen mehr Service machen zu müssen und das Ding trotz A2 einfach offen zu fahren. Hatte keinem im Freundeskreis der die eingetragene Leistung gefahren ist. Solche Dinge reizen einem halt in jungen Jahren mehr und es wird halt eher zu einem "Muss-ich-haben-Bike" als ein "Sehr-praktikabel-und günstig im Unterhalt-Bike" gegriffen
i already called the dealers but they didnt really know much about it yet which sucks. I would like to preorder . I currently have a duke 890r but i am just worried about the seat height with no solid info on the height and sizes. i am 6-3 and dont want to feel like im on a small bike. The power on this thing seems like it will be perfect . this bike will check off all the boxes for my riding style.

Leider darf das Motorrad nicht leichter sein. 0,2kW pro Kilogramm müssen es sein, damit die für die A2 Klasse zugelassen ist... 33kW durch 160 kg ergibt glatt 0,2kw/kg. Aus diesem Grund darf die SMC-R gedrosselt auch nur 32 kW haben und nicht die vollen 35 kW.
@ Naja sie dürfte schon bis zu 70kW haben, sie müsste dann nur von KTM auch in einer gedrosselten Version existieren für A2. Klar das lohnt sich kaum bei 400ccm, aber das ist auch wieder einer dieser Gründe. Dann kaufe ich mir lieber eine gedrosselte Maschine und fahre diese dann nach zwei Jahren offen, vor allem dann wenn ich mir ein nagelneues Bike bestelle, würde ich nicht nach zwei Jahren schon wieder wechseln wollen, anders vielleicht als bei einer Gebrauchten. Holst du dir die Maschine? Freunde sagen irgendwie das Selbe, cool aber würden sie sich nicht holen.
@@TheShezer Ich würd mir auch direkt ein Motorrad kaufen das man drosseln kann, ist klar. Nur sind die Kosten bei solchen Motorrädern meist deutlich höher. Die 690er ohne Promotion kostet halt gleich das doppelte als die 390 SMC-R (zumindest in der Schweiz). Aber dafür muss man dann für mehr Leistung auch nicht nach einer neuen Maschine suchen. Kommt halt drauf an wie viel Geld man zur Verfügung hat :)
Ich Arbeite in der Schweiz als Motorradmechaniker bei einer KTM Vertragswerkstatt. Die Nachfrage, vor allem bei den 125 Sumos, ist extrem da. Deswegen denk ich schon dass KTM mit diesem Model viele Kunden anlocken wird. Gibt ja auch keine grosse Auswahl... Der Preis ist schon extrem gut. Die 125er von Yamaha mit Jahrgang 2025 sind teurer als die KTM 125er. Hätte man auch nie erwartet...
Ob ich mir die kaufen würde? Eher nicht, da ich mich schon seit 2016 an die Leistung der 1290er gewöhnt habe. Ein so extremes Downgrade in diesem Sinne käme bei mir nicht in Frage. Für 18 Jährige die Frisch den A2 Schein haben und nicht die Kohle von den Eltern in den Ar... geschoben bekommen, sehe ich die 390er als geiles Anfänger Motorrad :) Aber freue mich schon auf die erste Fahrt mit ihr. Spass macht diese bestimmt.
@ Ich hoffe es sehr für KTM und drücke die Daumen, dass die Maschine sich wie geschnitten Brot verkauft. Mit 20 hätte ich wohl eher zur EXC gegriffen, einfach weil sie mich emotionaler mehr abholt. Da hab ich es auch in Kauf genommen mehr Service machen zu müssen und das Ding trotz A2 einfach offen zu fahren. Hatte keinem im Freundeskreis der die eingetragene Leistung gefahren ist. Solche Dinge reizen einem halt in jungen Jahren mehr und es wird halt eher zu einem "Muss-ich-haben-Bike" als ein "Sehr-praktikabel-und günstig im Unterhalt-Bike" gegriffen
i already called the dealers but they didnt really know much about it yet which sucks. I would like to preorder . I currently have a duke 890r but i am just worried about the seat height with no solid info on the height and sizes. i am 6-3 and dont want to feel like im on a small bike. The power on this thing seems like it will be perfect . this bike will check off all the boxes for my riding style.
