Thanks for the thoughtful review Klesh! A commenter Benny did the math on the cost of the gold from three folks winning 1 oz in the run of 200 bags and it gets you close to the overall ROI that you say you would expect. You also have to factor in the custom packaging, the extras, and shipping everything for free from a remote corner of Alaska, which bites more than a few points of margin off each sale. We absolutely had industry-standard profit margins in mind when we started this business and it’s a bummer to see folks in the comments saying we’re ripping people off! Overall I wouldn’t expect our bag to be for those searching for a guaranteed max ROI, but for fans of Bering Sea Gold who want to participate with us in the gold hunt in Nome with a chance to get a nice payday, or who want to give a thoughtful gift to someone who’s a fan. We have so far used 100% of the proceeds from these sales to fund our investment in TH-cam and website content, fun products, and other infrastructure as we grow our business with the goal of connecting more people with the offshore gold dredging business in Alaska, which we devote a ton of our energy to off-season. If anyone thinks we are just pocketing huge profits off unsuspecting fans you are very wrong. Also the gold we mine from the Bering Sea is really that fine! Thanks again!
Hey Emily, so after posting this video I learned a lot about you and your show(s), and as a gold nerd, I do find it very intersting! I can't think of a better job than playing with dirt and making silly videos. Anyway, yes you're correct 100% about the packaging costs and the value of a customer being involved directly with the show so of course you can command a premium. People get to be a part of what you do in your show which is priceless honestly. I do think your paydirt is very fun, and although I told people to avoid it, i really do think my review won't change people's mind on whether or not they'd buy this product because of where it comes from. I also subscribed to your show, and will be catching up when I can thanks for watching! -Shane

@Emily_Riedel I USE to be a huge fan of Bering Sea Gold, until it became too "hokey" and really Fake. Discovery Channel was more interested in making it a Drama, then a reality TV show. Its loaded with too much fakery, and all of you :actors" went along with that bullshittery.. I prefer Klesh and his honesty over your Horseshit, and going along with Discovery and feeding the horseshit to the public.
Love your videos, especially when you traveled to B.C. and hung out with Dan Hurd and P. Pauly. To say the least, Emily Riedel's story, not to be Kleshe` (ha see what I did there!) is like a true underdog story. But her and her people are pretty genuine, hard working folks. Her dad is a little off, but he means well I think. She has some cool videos on the many challenges of mining in the Bering Sea.
Hi Shane, I bought Emily's pay dirt and got 1.316 grams. The chance of getting a whole ounce made it absolutely more fun and the fact that is not an exact amount of gold in each bag adds to the experience. It seemed pretty easy after doing your whole series of dirt though. The impossible bag was really fun.
They claim that out of the 200 bags in this batch, there are 3 motherload bags that have an ounce of gold. These 200 bags would cost a total of $150X200=$30,000. The 3 ounces of gold in the motherload bags are worth close to $6,000. So you have 20% of the cost of the whole batch in just these 3 bags. Assuming that the bag that you had is an average non-motherload bag, that would mean that all the 197 non-motherload bags would have a total of approximately $68X197=$13,396 worth of gold. If you add the $6,000 worth of gold from the 3 motherload bags, you get a total of $19,296 worth of gold in the 200 bags that cost $30,000. That's an average ROI of ~65%. Not the best, but a lot better than the 45% you get if you disregard the motherload bags. All this is only relevant if these 3 motherload bags really do exist. :)
Thanks Benny for doing the math on this because you are roughly right about the margins with the motherlode bags - which absolutely do exist one has been found. We also put more $$$ into packaging and ship everything from a remote corner of Alaska for free which actually makes the margins tighter than you’d think. We could do less packaging and more gold and get closer to the 75% standard, and we are always trying to find ways to cut costs without sacrificing quality, but I’d say this bag isn’t designed for maximum ROI but more for fans of the show who want a chance to pan some gold
Good stuff, Shane! I always enjoy your videos and rewatch all different ones throughout the week. I've been binge watching Dan Hurd since seeing your video at Pickerton. Another awesome guy, who "earned my subscription". Peace🤘😎

For someone in the gold industry that has visited Alaska to gold hunt to not know about Bering Sea Gold is jaw-dropping.
Your reply to those anachronistic relics erroneously calling you a Luddite for not having a TV is simply that you no longer have any interest in such old technology, having moved on and beyond that years ago. However, they are most welcome to continue living in the declining remnants of outdated 20th century junk, if that is their wont. I think it will be in about July this year that I pass the 30 year mark, having junked TV because I always despised the lies of adverts. They aren't supposed to lie or mislead, but those words appear to have different definitions to 'TV watchdogs' than they do in a dictionary. Advertising always lies and misleads. But without advertising there is no TV, or fat TV watchdog pay packets. .
I just got a magnet fishing mag from wish and it has the loop for a rope but it perfect for the silver dollar tube. I like the hoop on it and it is plenty strong. It was 7.99 on wish. It’s way too small for actually mag fishing but it is perfect for the paydirt. It might be worth checking out
Thanks, Shane. That was sort of exciting, just thinking you might get the motherload, then it suddenly seemed dismal with only two little pickers, then all that flower gold appeared, yep I know it's (flour gold), but I've always thought of it like the golden pollen on flowers. ( :
Bering Sea Gold is on the Discovery Channel. Think Deadliest Catch. It's filmed in Nome, Alaska. Watched a guy drive along the beach and get several ounces of gold over the course of three days. (He had a helper). They were doing this because their dredge was broken and being fixed.
so i live in Tahoe and about 20 ft from the shore there is a black sand ring that goes around the lake and i was wondering with the abundance of gold in the area i just wonder if its the right type of black sand. we have a river here that when you look at it it sparkles gold and if you look closely it tiny golden flakes flowing in the river that drains out of the lake.
THe best way to find out is grab a gold pan and head down there. Do a bunch of sample pans, anywhere you suspect gold to be. The gold you see in the river is just Mica and Pyrite. Gold is much too heavy to be "on top" where you'd see it. Also, gold doesn't sparkle, it's "just yellow".
Her show is on the Discovery channel, coming from Nome,Alaska, not as much black sand as in other parts of the State, when I worked my parents Gold mining operation in the Brooks Range, lots of black sand
Klesh: I scanned your last five videos with ThioJoe's TH-cam Spammer Purger and found zero spammer/scammers out of 2011 posts. You are clean, sir! And have a great day.
Yea bought a bag. I watch the show she hasn’t been on recently because she got Covid and is about to have a child. Her dad is kind of a nut. I think I sold you back some of her gold from that bag. I did have some big chunks of black stuff not magnetic made it difficult to clean. You noted that when you opened my sample. She actually a soprano opera trained. There are some videos of her singing on you tube. She has a beautiful voice.
A friend of mine told me I should listen to opera. I asked why. He said that the music was wonderful. I told him that every time I had heard any opera I could barely hear the music as there was always some fat bloke wailing over the top of it. Sorry. Couldn't resist. .
What happened with the spinning magnetic material separator you featured a couple years ago? This seems like it'd be perfect for separating out large amounts of black sands. Was it defective?
Hey so let’s think ….IS IT a good investment to buy paydirt? I figure the cost of gas , equipment, food and everything it takes to go prospecting…. IIS it cheaper to just buy paydirt?? I’ve spent a lot and found nothing or a flake or two and spent over $40 in gas.
If you're looking to invest in gold, then don't buy paydirt. Buy Bullion from a reputable dealer. Paydirt can certainly save you money if you plan on doing it instead of spending the time, planning, travel, money, gas, equipment, knowledge etc to mine yourself, but what fun is that? I think paydirt is best for kids (to get them interested) or people with disabilities that cannot physically get on the river to find it themselves. To me, the process of getting out in nature and enjoying the day is much more valuable than the gold itself, but everyone's perception of value is a little different.
#1) Selling the name. I believe there on Discovery channel. #2) I find it hard to believe that it's "out of a dredge" with all the floatie mica. Would have blown right thru a dredge. Much better deals around out there. As always, great video.
It's definitely one of those things that have value for fans and not for other folks who just want gold. That's why I say our bags aren't for the average paydirt/ROI junkie. We sell gold by the gram that is much cheaper than our bag of paydirt!
Have you ever thought about trying to buy all the bags in those x amount out of x amount bags that say they have motherload in them so say a company says there are 2 bags out of a 100 that have a motherload amount and just buy all 100 bags to see if it's really true?

I just got a magnet fishing mag from wish and it has the loop for a rope but it perfect for the silver dollar tube. I like the hoop on it and it is plenty strong. It was 7.99 on wish. It’s way too small for actually mag fishing but it is perfect for the paydirt. It might be worth checking out
Cool thanks for that info
That “sweet” instead of “nice” threw me off😂😂😂
Hair is on point brother!
great looking pay dirt Shane :) I also watch the T.V programme its pretty cool to watch :) the pay dirt ROI however not too good on this bag :(
Thx for sharing. Nice vid again.
Great review, Man. Thanks. 🍻
Thanks, Shane. That was sort of exciting, just thinking you might get the motherload, then it suddenly seemed dismal with only two little pickers, then all that flower gold appeared, yep I know it's (flour gold), but I've always thought of it like the golden pollen on flowers. ( :
That's absolutely how fine most of the gold is that we dredge - cleanups are fun!
Really good description. When my daughters bees come back to the hive they look like they have little bits of gold on their legs.
Sweet. I love them. Hello Emily
Seen that as well. Love those types of videos.
so i live in Tahoe and about 20 ft from the shore there is a black sand ring that goes around the lake and i was wondering with the abundance of gold in the area i just wonder if its the right type of black sand. we have a river here that when you look at it it sparkles gold and if you look closely it tiny golden flakes flowing in the river that drains out of the lake.
Got the gold strike bag finally done and weighed up half gram guaranteed yep .63 hell ya 👍
thanks for the upload!
Hey do you have a bucket of magnitized materal you can show us, I mean all that you have pulled from pay dirt etc? or do you just dump it.
Yes I have two buckets full
Her show is on the Discovery channel, coming from Nome,Alaska, not as much black sand as in other parts of the State, when I worked my parents Gold mining operation in the Brooks Range, lots of black sand
Killer review as always. Excellent video
Thanks for another great video.
Nope works fine. I just prefer to do it by hand
Wow planing gold when it's snowing!
The only reason I would get this bag is for the chance at an ounce of gold (albeit the odds aren't that great). Thanks for another informative video!
Maybe we'll do a half ounce and six winners next time
@@TheEmilyRiedel That would make a lot more sense in so many ways
Great video as always Klesh. Question, what song is that playing while you are panning?
Just TH-cam free audio
What’s the stuff he brushes away before starting?
Bering Sea Gold is a TV series that is seasonal
@@Klesh thanks klesh! I trust your knowledge.
Got any bullion lol?
@@Klesh and also you should come check out our Washington nature!!! It’s the best in the west !!!
There’s some beautiful color in there! I’m curious as to whether anyone has found a mother load yet.
The description Klesh read said one of the three had been found.
@@PHUCKyoutube689 I missed that, thank you!
One has been found!
#1) Selling the name. I believe there on Discovery channel. #2) I find it hard to believe that it's "out of a dredge" with all the floatie mica. Would have blown right thru a dredge. Much better deals around out there. As always, great video.
Shane, is an 8 mesh screen smaller than kitchen strainer? On one video I watched on another channel it looked the same.
Not sure actually
Looks like they are doing less in the bags with 3 being motherloads. More about the chance factor than about a steady ROI.
Absolutely true for this run. We went more prizes and bigger, but less on average in each bag
Great review and great advice. Thanks klesh think Emily could easily of done better considering her position just paying for the name.
Thank you I was going to buy a couple of bags but I will not loose 55 percent of money i
Thanks for the info 👍 what program do you use for the Gold Calculator
There's a number of different ones for free online, I use any that are available
Thanks Shane I have a gold calculator but I like the one you used on this show . Can you tell me witch one it was thanks jeff
I kept thinking I see snow flakes… 9:00 in I realize it’s snowing!
I'm subscribed to her channel
You did get a sticker and a signed auto. They're putting value in that. Me wants the gold though like most people.
I suppose I could
You really never heard of it? Great vid m8, cheers 🎉
I do not own or watch TV or even much TH-cam (of other gold prospecting people) so that is why.
@@Klesh amazing, we also do not own a tv. I was a reader as a kid, eyes to bad now. Just super into Gold, so when the shows came out I did and do watch them all. If you want, the first few seasons are the best. Super drama, big struggles. Totally get not being into it too. If you do, let me know. Love to hear your thoughts. Following Riddel, her father and friends the last decade has been very interesting.
It'd be better to value the gold by the amount you'd pay for it, in my opinion. Unless you use that website to calculate the price that you buy at?
You're paying for the Captain of the ship's signature. Bearing Sea Gold is a Discovery Channel show. A gram isn't bad, but $150 a bit much for just a gram.
Plus the chance to win an ounce, premium packaging, extras, and free shipping from a remote corner of Alaska. Our profit margins are industry standard. We sell gold by the gram as well which is much cheaper than that for those who want a guaranteed ROI
That’s crazy ur doing this in the cold snowy weather.
Next week's video was rough, filmed in 7 degrees F
“Episode 121 of gold prospecting from home”
Am I the only one who thinks this guy should have found a river by now
You definitely need to check out my gold prospecting and world travel playlists. Also check out my 50 states of treasure hunting series where I visit each state in the United States to do some treasure hunting. Plenty of rivers across the world on this channel thanks for watching!
@@Klesh hahahahah thanks, I’ve actually been a fallowed with your channel for quite some time now. Ever since some of ur first lynch mining reviews.
About what I expected! The show is "Bering Sea Gold"!
Semoga makin sukses dan jaya sobat, sya juga hobi mencari emas, kapan anda akan kembali berburu emas sobat
Bearing Sea Gold is on the Discovery Channel
I always found Emily kinda sketchy. She certainly doesn't always make the smartest decisions - like sleeping with Mr. Gold - but her father really takes the cake. Steve is certifiably nuts.
😂👌😆🤣
