Grew up with dad constantly listening to his early albums in the living room in the evening. His songs makes me feel like I have multiple livers, it’s hard to explain. Tom makes me really emotional. My favorites are Russian Dance, Singapore, and Ruby’s Arms. What about yours?
16 Shells From a Thirty-Ought Six, Straight to the Top, Misery is the River of the World, Chicago, God's Away on Business, Chocolate Jesus, The Piano Has Been Drinking Not Me, Step Right Up, Rain Dogs, and a real sleeper is Downtown from Heart Attack & Vine.
Changes the whole meaning of the title. I always knew it was a play on words but looking at it from that perspective - Hell (war) broke Jeffery Lucey and he took his own life: Hell Broke Luce. As brilliant as it is sad and THAT is what art is for.
Tom Waits is incredible: I wish more people could appreciate his talent, brilliance, and yes, very dark humor
I guess people either get him or they don't. Acquired taste, but for me pure brilliance.
Yes! What a coincidence. I’ve been listening to this at work today on repeat

Thank you so much for the kind feedback Jan. Welcome.
The song is about a marine who's last name was "Luce" (can't remember his first name) who commuted suicide after he got home from the war.
I see that now on Genius. There is a photo of Jeffery Lucey. Thanks for filling me in on this speculation.

Hi could you please react to Bob Dylan's song 'Murder Most Foul' from 2020, thanks!!!!
Y'know, I actually haven't listened to that song yet...by some miracle. Yeah, maybe we'll do that.
