One of my favorite characters. He's just pure evil mad scientist. His whole look just screams sci-fi Saw villain, and as a character his story is just twisted and unsettling. Great choice of character for this one
I absolutely love the fact that you have been painting some of these similar to how the original owner was trying to get. Leaving some of the original owners love but making it your own too
I like the original painter's design, in which every vial has a distinct color of liquid, to the updated version, in which every vial has the same color. It gives the impression that the mad doctor can combine and rework fresh mixtures before using them in his most recent mad science experiment.
I have a converted Emperor's Children Sorcerer based upon this figure. Back in the GW allowed ordering of specific bits for conversions. My model is inspired by Pinhead from Hellraiser. I may have to do a glow up version with the new model if GW ever gets around to updating the Emperor's Children faction. Nice trsults. Imagine this guy working in a Grim Dark food truck.
Old models are amazing! I’ve tried to sprinkle in a few old metal models and the 2nd Ed plastic models because I just love the designs (and fits for my firstborn army) and wanted to make my first ever proper 40K army something special and meaningful to me Definitely my favourite model is the 2nd Ed Devastators, especially with the shoulder mounted heavy bolters 😎
Man that’s still one of my favorite projects! And that black coach is still one of the coolest displays I’ve ever worked on! It’s been a crazy couple of years for sure :)
Nice video! This rescue went on to be a very neat mini.👍 Maybe your cold is a side effect from Faboo Billy experimenting on you? Probably should see the Mad Dok.👍
A couple coats of Magos Purple glazed onto those metals could have looked amazing! You could use it to separate the servoarms casings a bit from the resto of the metallics, tying them up a bit with the purple armor, and not have them look all like a solid block. Anyway I know the focus of this paintjob is the skin and glass, which all look pretty neat. Nice job as always, Casey. Get well soon!
that is an awesome transformation. I still have this old metal mini and been meaning to update his paint job too. Casey ,I think what would be a cool follow up vid for this would be to get your hands on the personalized Bile body guard mini's they did for 3rd edition (technically you can't use them as their intended unit in current edition ,but you could just have him accompany them as his own squad)
I have a TON of metal models. Many of them are fantasy models, but some of then, like my patriarch on throne, is in metal. I love my metal minis and use them still with proper scaling
Looks great, and I can't remember that last time I tried painting vials like that. I'm gearing up to move, so my muse is suffering a bit right now and I'll have to take a break because painting has become just another chore at the moment. But once I get moved and settled, I'm hoping that the inspiration comes back.
Moving can take a lot out of you! I just moved not too long ago and it was tough to try and sit down and paint when there was everything else going on. Just take your time and get settled into your new place (congrats btw) and it will come back, the minis aren't going anywhere :)
i sometimes put blutack over the connection point on the back of models so I can keep it clean. When I am ready to stick on the backpack I can just peel it off
@@eBayMiniatureRescues I'm not saying it's not a beauty... but it fights you at every step: between the overabundance of details and it stabbing you with every single pointy bit it have... let me give you a small advice: paint it in subassembly.
Bruce Campbell was in "Escape from LA" which was the sequel to "Escape from New York". While both are John Carpenter movies, New York was done during his prime. LA was one during his waning years.
I bet it would, albeit, slowly. Could be worth trying on a whole bunch of minis all at once though, just let them cook and come back the next day to clean minis. A trip to a thrift store might be in order!
My friend gave me 5 OOP MetalGrey Knight Termies and I've fallen in love with metal models. Bought some OOP Metal Sisters last week but missed out a OOP Repentia Squad last night but I'm sure I'll find a good deal again.
Awesome model, great paint job. You ought to pick up Lucius the Eternal if you haven't already, he's disgustingly fun with the screaming skin stretched over his armour!
I had an FOWW mini fall on carpet and the paint rip open all the way to bare plastic, so I ask if you want to perserve a mini for use in gaming what is your protective last coat?
It's usually a good idea to use a varnish over the top. Satin is usually best to keep most of the paint looking the same, though you may have to go back and touch up any metallic paint. I personally like matte varnish for the look and it helps protect the mini from small dings. I'm surprised that paint came off of a plastic mini from falling on the carpet though. That doesn't usually happen even without a varnish.
In an attempt to save even a little more money, I try not to change it until it starts to lose its potency. I'd say every couple of weeks, but realistically it would be better to change out the liquid after each batch of minis is stripped. It just works better when it's fresh!
Since I mostly look for Warhammer minis of all kinds I usually go with the search term "Warhammer" and then filter the results by used, buy it now, lowest price first. Then you go to the sidebar and filter even more by, painted/assembled, partially painted/ assembled, and Damaged/missing pieces. That usually gets you the best single model and small squad results that are in this type of condition. Once you have the saved search that you like go ahead and save that search for later, that way it's only one click away every time. You can also set up notifications on that search to go directly to your email every day and show you the newest minis. That way you can jump on the good opportunities before anyone else! Hope that helps :)
As long as they can count as something and are modeled as such. Fabius Bile should be in the newest codex, so any Fabius Bile model will do. There are some rules to follow though, like the base size should be the same or bigger, and the height for line of sight needs to be basically the same or worse for you as the player, otherwise, it's considered modeling for advantage. Shorter models can't be seen behind cover type of thing, so make it a little bigger to give your opponent the advantage, technically. The new FB is a little taller, so I put this one on some cork to make up for it. The rest is almost identical though. A while back I painted up a Ghazghull Thrakka model from 2nd edition, a really small model compared to the new one, but I put him on a stack of cans, a proper-sized base and it's basically the same thing, just an older version. Being able to make mini dioramas or just bulking up the base and terrain to fit with a smaller older model is definitely part of the fun of using them, and something you don't see every day on the table too!
Your comments about newer plastic/older metal made me think about Fabius making similar comments about Primaris/Firstborn marines. "Sure, these Primaris marines are a little tougher, quicker, what have you, but the traditional Firstborn geneseed still has its merits. You can be a bit more heavy-handed twisting it with unholy sciences and still get a good result, and anyone who's worked with them knows what I mean."

It's such a cool mini, definitely worth painting up, if even to sell! Yeah the bandaid is mostly to cover up the leftovers, it's still not 100%, but it's about a million times better than it was lol.

The girl represents a living person whose skin tone is impacted by the blood under her skin and the impact of emotions and environment on her face. Can confirm, I run some metal aspiring sorcerers in my Thousand Sons army and I love the old school Vs new school look of having both.
I’ve bought some old metal Devastators because I prefer the heavy weapons designs (shoulder mounted heavy bolter ftw!)
