At some point, he probably got fed up with what he saw as a long string of failures and decided he could run things better. That, and he also just wanted the power that came with being a Prime.

Maybe the Thirteen Primes sacrificed their godly power and became mortals albeit still powerful to seal away Unicron, and then they altered the Archives to not mention the Chaos Bringer and the Thirteen's battle against him.

Agreed. Dark of the Moon and TF One and even Animated versions were not actual primes. I would like to think that primes are noble and would like to see the real Sentinel Prime some time. I'd like to think of him as a cross between Alpha Trion and Ultra Magnus. The little we saw of him in G1 he seemed like a good guy.

We don’t talk about how the would-be season 4 completely ignored that development.)
I dunno, I think Season 4 would've worked out well building off Season 3 considering Sentinel was already halfway to tyranny when he stepped up as Magnus. And showed *no* signs of slowing down or wanting any accountability or checks on his power. Remember, he was champing at the bit to fire on Omega Supreme, even when Alpha Trion and the other council members were subtly blockading and delaying his requests out of concerns he was going to waste precious energy resources and endanger them all. Even the official Season 3 ending doesn't show him possibly growing, as he subtly grumps at Optimus getting a warmer welcome with all the main 'Cons caught. If left unchecked, even with Optimus around, Sentinel would've gone full-tilt "the ends justify the means" in stopping the 'Cons once and for all. He's been that way since the accident that took Elita from him and demoted Optimus, believing he's in the right all along because *someone* has to do what's necessary. ...and that's why I actually now blanch in horror realizing that D-16 in One is scarily similar to Animated!Sentinel in how both are the opposite sides of the same coin, the only difference being the side they'd champion for their mad self-righteousness.
Actually in an expanded video by the guy who did a lot of research into Season 4 amd even attempted a version of it, he got a copy of the version of the original plan to Season 4 before changes were made and then getting canceled. It said that Sentinal would realize what he was becoming during the finale and see the error of his ways and step down, letting Optimus take command.
All three have one thing in common: they're all arrogant jerks. Two of them got what they deserved. The Animated one I believe would have eventually been replaced by Optimus Prime as supreme commander of the Autobots while he would have had a mental breakdown and became Nemesis Prime.
TF One Sentinel is basically what you get when you put Animated and Bayverse Sentinel along with Kaido and celestial dragons from One Piece into a blender, making him the most devious concoction of the character ever

I just love how much of an A*hole that every person who worked on Sentinel Prime made him. Like he is literally the Autobot equivalent of Starscream who actually doesn’t care about justice, loyalty or honour and is just out for himself. I remember cheering for Zeta Prime in the WFC game before finding out that his actual full name being Sentinel “Zeta” Prime, everything what happened to him later was truly justified.

Animated Sentinel Prime is my favorite version of the Characters and if the series got renewed for a 4th Season(Which it still deserves to) then we could've seen him redeemed himself and help Optimus take down Megatron.

In IDW before he came back he upheld the law without realizing how horrible life was for lesser Cybertronians, in WFC he was a war hero who enforced the harsh old ways of his people leading to the war but he definitely does care about protecting others, and Animated Sentinel speaks for himself. And Transformers One made him as one of the Thirteen Primes as they don't reuse Optimus Prime being the reincarnation of the 13th. It's brought up in the video. His colors also seem to be designed after either the G1 robot who would become Sentinel, or his animated version
I feel like having SENTINAL as a bad guy in a re-occurring film type ,after already being a bad guy was a good move for the directors.! We all new SENTINAL was a bad guy from the bay verse it only reinforces that feeling but in another universe

Five faces of darkness or should I know previous commanders of Autobot Supreme Commanders in the past of origins in G1. I like also Transformer One Sentinel Prime has the charisma and sarcastic character. He pwned most the 13 Primes in ambush.
When you really sit down and think about it, Sentinel essentially ENSLAVED Cybertron and created systematic racism. Not every Cybertronian was stripped off from their cogs. But, since every miner didn’t have their cogs, were openly mocked and ridiculed for being cogless against their will.
Rodimus originally being apart if the elite guard in Animated is so bizarre, that's like Luke training Obi Wan. I completely forgot Leonard voiced 2 Transformers characters, that's incredible.

1:12 actually it was the second. the first was the creator and creation war as the quintesson war, optimus and megatron war was the peace and freedom wars the third war. The second was the expansion war when autobots stated to fight back. Ultra primal made the connection when she reviewed five faces of darkness
Great Retrospect, really learn a lot more about Sentinal than what I was shown, but I'll always love Nimoy bringing his "Needs Of The Many" quote to Dark Of The Moon, only OG Star Trek fans will get that.

YES! Been wanting this retrospective! Sentinel Prime is definitely a favorite character of mine, I love most all his designs (minus animated) and loved him as the villain in TF ONE.
Whether for better or for worse, if it wasn't for our decade hiatus from the franchise that me and my brother chose to take after ROTF, along with us still learning the deep lore overall, the reveal and incredibly dark plot twist of Sentinel Prime in Transformers ONE was even more surprising than it otherwise needed to be! This is making me wonder if we should just take a break from lore channels and consume the classic content some on our own just so we could not risk being spoiled anymore! That being said, wonderful retrospective Rodimus!

Before all the Sentinel Prime hate happens can we all agree that this Bot has been one of The Best Antagonist in the Transformers Movies if not History like DOTM Sentinel in my opinion has a pretty good villain motivation and TF One Sentinel is just messed up but Awesome. I have friends that don't watch the TF Movies so when they saw TF One Sentinel turn out to be a bad guy they were like dang I've never see a Villan that straight up Gaslight a Whole entire Planet and Race and basically is the whole reason the Decepticon and Autobots War happens.
I love One Sentinel, they took the vile IDW version and just mixed in Homelander, with a bit of Handsome Jack. Best version, the Megatron Origin callback with his “apex mode” was such a deep cut.
It’s pretty fascinating how Sentinel Prime started out as a character who gave Optimus Prime the Matrix of Leadership before he died. It makes it very funny Hasbro would let the TFA Crew use Sentinel instead of Rodimus, as Hasbro just didn’t care for Sentinel.
The G1 animators would frequently mix up Constructicon Long Haul and the U-Haul Robot and color Long Haul with U-Haul's color scheme. That's why Long Haul would be in wacky colors while the other Constructicons were colored correctly.
In my series Optimus wasn’t a prime when he got to earth. He was the current prime’s second in command. And sentinal was vying for the same position, though he was willing to do some more shady stuff to try and get the position
I once thought about a version of Sentinel Prime who sought to forcibly merge the Matrix of Leadership with his Spark, so that, in his mind, no one could succeed him, even preparing to even rename himself Infinitus Prime.
I always like the live action design for sentinel prime as a kid and when I saw transformers one I was surprised that he was a traitor like live action
I actually have come to accept the idea that Sentinel Prime is a complete jackass, since he is after all Optimus Prime's predecessor, and it makes sense for the most beloved leader of the Autobots to be the replacement for a bot that nobody wanted to have around as commander anymore. lol
I love megatron as much as the next person. But when it comes to movies they really nailed sentinel not once, but twice. He is pretty much an Iconic villain of transformers by now.
Ah, you might want to add one more inspiration for Sentinel in One, though he's not the same Sentinel in name: IDW's *Nominus Prime.* Basically he's got Sentinel's colors and alt-mode, as well as his role as a "false Prime" with no real Matrix. Also he's responsible for the oppressive systems put into place that shape our cast of heroes and villains, but *somehow* One made a system that was *even more oppressive* than Nominus' societal Functionism.

Sentinel Prime went from being pretty much a fan character to being the main antagonist of Transformers: Dark of the moon, that's quite a leap.
I've gotta say Bayverse is his best one plus the sound his sword makes is awesome

I just love how much of an A*hole that every person who worked on Sentinel Prime made him. Like he is literally the Autobot equivalent of Starscream who actually doesn’t care about justice, loyalty or honour and is just out for himself. I remember cheering for Zeta Prime in the WFC game before finding out that his actual full name being Sentinel “Zeta” Prime, everything what happened to him later was truly justified.

Also Sentinel Prime can definitely deserve another spotlight as a prime in the live action and to the G1 Transformers. Also Sentinel, the jerk bot that you both love and hated him. Also my best and most favorite iteration of Sentinel is the G1 Cartoon version of Sentinel Prime, also The G1 version of Sentinel is just amazing, Also Awesome video on Sentinel Prime, Also 1. Also Modern Sentinel Primes are either Jerks, egomaniacs, Xenophobes, Supremacists,Fallen Heroes, Faux Affably Evil or Traitors. Meanwhile G1 Sentinel Prime is not only one of my best and most favorite G1 Heroic Characters of all time,not only a Heroic Autobot but also just A U-Haul Robot. Also TFA Sentinel worked as the perfect elitist foil for Optimus blue collar worker characterization. WFC Sentinel Z was used as an example of how an obsession with power will lead to an eventual downfall. DOTM Sentinel shows how even the ones that may seem our Allies won't always be one. And TFOne took all three and blended them into the most despicable version of the character to date, Also A big reason as to why Transformers One was such a great movie!! I Also planned to see Transformers One in movie theaters next week, Also "Rodimus Primal my friend, thank you for creating an entrie video about me. Animated Sentinel Prime is my favorite version of the Characters and if the series got renewed for a 4th Season(Which it still deserves to) then we could've seen him redeemed himself and help Optimus take down Megatron.
I'm starting to miss the non-villainous Sentinel. Yeah he usually wasn't a saint, but he wasn't straight up evil either.
But he's boring and doesn't stand out.

In IDW before he came back he upheld the law without realizing how horrible life was for lesser Cybertronians, in WFC he was a war hero who enforced the harsh old ways of his people leading to the war but he definitely does care about protecting others, and Animated Sentinel speaks for himself. They're all morally gray without being a straight up villain,
@@unclefranklin4575 In War For Cybertron, that was Zeta Prime you're referring to. And Transformers One made him as one of the Thirteen Primes as they don't reuse Optimus Prime being the reincarnation of the 13th.
Or else it'd be seen as Orion Pax reclaiming his divine birthright than being chosen for being worthy of the Matrix of Leadership.
@TheWarmachine375 it was intended to be Sentinel. He's called that in prequel novels and early builds for the game. And I believe he's also called Sentinel in the WFC comic. It's brought up in the video. His colors also seem to be designed after either the G1 robot who would become Sentinel, or his animated version

I feel like having SENTINAL as a bad guy in a re-occurring film type ,after already being a bad guy was a good move for the directors.! We all new SENTINAL was a bad guy from the bay verse it only reinforces that feeling but in another universe

At this point I have a love/hate relationship with Sentinel, because I love his DOTM version but yet hate him for all the horrendous stuff he did in other universes (great video as always!)

When you really sit down and think about it, Sentinel essentially ENSLAVED Cybertron and created systematic racism.
Not every Cybertronian was stripped off from their cogs. But, since every miner didn’t have their cogs, were openly mocked and ridiculed for being cogless against their will.

@@RodimusPrimalone thing I wondered is how do you think TFA Sentinel Prime would react to his other incarnations? Finding out that he's always the villain, tyrant, or predecessor. Only there to fall so that Optimus Prime (someone he hates) can rise, basically being nothing more than a second fiddle
1:12 actually it was the second. the first was the creator and creation war as the quintesson war, optimus and megatron war was the peace and freedom wars the third war. The second was the expansion war when autobots stated to fight back. Ultra primal made the connection when she reviewed five faces of darkness
Great Retrospect, really learn a lot more about Sentinal than what I was shown, but I'll always love Nimoy bringing his "Needs Of The Many" quote to Dark Of The Moon, only OG Star Trek fans will get that.

YES! Been wanting this retrospective! Sentinel Prime is definitely a favorite character of mine, I love most all his designs (minus animated) and loved him as the villain in TF ONE.

Whether for better or for worse, if it wasn't for our decade hiatus from the franchise that me and my brother chose to take after ROTF, along with us still learning the deep lore overall, the reveal and incredibly dark plot twist of Sentinel Prime in Transformers ONE was even more surprising than it otherwise needed to be! This is making me wonder if we should just take a break from lore channels and consume the classic content some on our own just so we could not risk being spoiled anymore! That being said, wonderful retrospective Rodimus!

One Sentinel Prime got off easy, had Megatron not killed him, he’d face the wrath of every bot he wronged.
Before all the Sentinel Prime hate happens can we all agree that this Bot has been one of The Best Antagonist in the Transformers Movies if not History like DOTM Sentinel in my opinion has a pretty good villain motivation and TF One Sentinel is just messed up but Awesome. I have friends that don't watch the TF Movies so when they saw TF One Sentinel turn out to be a bad guy they were like dang I've never see a Villan that straight up Gaslight a Whole entire Planet and Race and basically is the whole reason the Decepticon and Autobots War happens.
Dotm sentinel prime was my favorite and still is because of his design and his role as a final movie villain of a good trilogy

I love One Sentinel, they took the vile IDW version and just mixed in Homelander, with a bit of Handsome Jack. Best version, the Megatron Origin callback with his “apex mode” was such a deep cut.
ONE Sentinel would be the type to say “The needs of the many are outweighed by the needs of the few.”
My definitive Sentinel Prime is definitely Animated, but Transformers One is a worthy version without a doubt.
It’s pretty fascinating how Sentinel Prime started out as a character who gave Optimus Prime the Matrix of Leadership before he died.
It makes it very funny Hasbro would let the TFA Crew use Sentinel instead of Rodimus, as Hasbro just didn’t care for Sentinel.
The G1 animators would frequently mix up Constructicon Long Haul and the U-Haul Robot and color Long Haul with U-Haul's color scheme. That's why Long Haul would be in wacky colors while the other Constructicons were colored correctly.

In my series Optimus wasn’t a prime when he got to earth. He was the current prime’s second in command. And sentinal was vying for the same position, though he was willing to do some more shady stuff to try and get the position
I once thought about a version of Sentinel Prime who sought to forcibly merge the Matrix of Leadership with his Spark, so that, in his mind, no one could succeed him, even preparing to even rename himself Infinitus Prime.

I actually have come to accept the idea that Sentinel Prime is a complete jackass, since he is after all Optimus Prime's predecessor, and it makes sense for the most beloved leader of the Autobots to be the replacement for a bot that nobody wanted to have around as commander anymore. lol

I love megatron as much as the next person. But when it comes to movies they really nailed sentinel not once, but twice. He is pretty much an Iconic villain of transformers by now.
Ah, you might want to add one more inspiration for Sentinel in One, though he's not the same Sentinel in name: IDW's *Nominus Prime.*
Basically he's got Sentinel's colors and alt-mode, as well as his role as a "false Prime" with no real Matrix. Also he's responsible for the oppressive systems put into place that shape our cast of heroes and villains, but *somehow* One made a system that was *even more oppressive* than Nominus' societal Functionism.
