Muay Thai roundhouse kicks worked amazing for my lower back. You have to do them correct or the movement will also cause injury. For beginners they over tense the lower back a result from sitting to much. Later you learn to keep it looser without injury. Another great video idea :) I have actually helped a friend with a lifetime bad lower back. He has had no problems for 1 year.

A few years ago I ended up injuring my back, I had been pushing myself hard in my work outs through the week and my body was exhausted, so I ended up falling asleep in the shower and well....you can imagine what happened next. Being young and stupid I completely ignored it, and it got worse. This went on for two years till now, where it finally got bad enough for me to do something about it, and after about 3 months of actively stretching, and visiting a chiropractor and so on and so forth it's finally starting to get better. Now I'm just hyped to be able to start training again. And your channel honestly has a big part to play in my motivation to get back into shape

I have only ever had injuries with my back when the back is sore a day or two after a hard back workout. I had an upper back strain that came out of nowhere when doing neck extension exercise with light weight. As for recovery if it helps anyone I took a whole week off last week, never done before, it was only because i became ill for the first time in years and now I feel stronger than ever before and all of my aches are gone. I might incorporate a week rest every two months and continue with one day a week rest as per usual. Awesome video. Awesome channel. Keep up the good work and good luck with the back recovery.

as a personal calisthenics athlete i do the gymnastic skills like iron cross etc, i can tell you that the tendon gets super strong like you said and the part where gymnast say they are constantly in pain, comes from the fact that we put an extreme load on the tendons and joints when training skills that we usually have pain a couple of days after. Simple as that. Keep it up really enjoy these informative videos

Tbf its normal for gymnasts to get injuries. I used to live with one and we'd train together with her team mates. They always had an injury, usually in the elbows and knees.

I pulled my back out a couple months ago. I could not rest so I had to keep going. It took me a couple hours to stack my spine and walk upright in a way that didn't further tweak my QL's. I then had to try to use my abdominals and Psoas muscles for locomotion. It has led to new and interesting workout method's.

Probably a good part of staying healthy is to know your limitations. I also have a lot of old injuries, and have to avoid some exercises because of this.
Perhaps swap out the pistol squats for Bulgarian split squats. I have issues with my right ankle, and so do these and Cossack squats instead of pistol squats for the same reasons. You have to load up with dumbbells to get the same difficulty. Plus Cossack squats are great for the adductors and help with side splits.

Interesting insight about how you say gymnasts have less injury. While I am not a gymnast or a parkour person, I can see a definite correlation in how doing sports that involve high impact falls can prepare you for future injury. I have trained several grappling based martial arts like wrestling, BJJ and Judo. It has given me a kind of 6th sense for how to properly displace my body weight to better absorb the impact of hard falls. I would bet a foot that Gymnasts and Parkour people have developed a very similar kind of reflex/sense.

Hey Adam, any knowledge on how to improve your senses like eyesight or hearing? I heard a lot about "healing bad eyesight" with eye muscle training. Question is if you can get to 110% in all your senses and develop like a superhuman perception of your surroundings. Meditation helps. It strengthens your focus. I'm a hunter, and ik that spending time in the woods, just listening, heightens all of your senses too. Another thing, is just depending on a certain sense. 5 minutes with a blindfold on, or 5 minutes with ear plugs on a day will go a long way.

    • @abigwhale1043
      @abigwhale1043 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

That's exactly what I wanted, too! It would be AWESOME!!
I've actually been experimenting with this myself.
I found that after about a couple of years of "training" (since it wasn't 100% DELIBERATELY training), my hearing is spiked by even the smallest of footstep, or even really quiet talking in the background.
I think my hearing has been essentially "optimised". Although, it mainly only picks up on things like people I know talking in the background, cat bells (because I have two cats w/ bells, who constantly try to sneak around us, so I'm kinda "paranoid" about that XD), footsteps, and just any random noise that I have either not heard before, or is just, well, RANDOM.
The way I did it was essentially just focusing on sounds for a moment, trying to hear anything our of the ordinary, really quiet/far away, or just, ANYTHING ELSE, really. Also, another thing that really got my hearing so "sensitive" was just being kind of paranoid every time I heard someone approaching me or my room. I dunno why.
But yeah, a video - or even better: SERIES - about the 5 senses would be EPIK. I mean, it would make SENSE if he did a video(s) on them, SENSE he is The Bioneer! (Ok, enough with the terrible puns. . .)

A couple of years ago, I sprained my ankle bad while doing a pretty big jump off a mound of dirt and rock in a woodland. It took me about two or three weeks to be able to walk again, but at least two or three MONTHS until it was better.
I was itching to be able to work out and do Parkour again, and actually ended up starting to work out again barely a month after the injury. But that probably just delayed the recovery even longer.
Eventually, though, my ankle was well enough for me to be able to walk and SORT OF run around, and I was even able to start working out SOMEWHAT normally again. Of course, I wasn't really able to do leg day until a bit later on, but that was LATER ON. So I started to train my upper body, and, OCCASIONALLY my legs. But I couldn't do squats and lunges, etc. properly yet.
After even MORE time, I was FINALLY able to train my legs. Unortunately, once I was able to train lower body, I kind of forgot about it and only really trained upper.
Of course, now, I'm not forgetting about mah leg days!
The lesson: *DON'T JUMP OFF BIG MOUNDS OF DIRT*

I think its a little too convenient that your back tweaks just as your body wants to spend energy on fighting an infection. It is one way to slow yourself down for a while.

To truly get the best recovery and prevent injuries is to use only the absolutely best recovery nutrition, low intensity training to cool down. To ease your muscles far better without completely stopping, use EMS and TENS to further enhance your recovery, used as many recovery strategies as possible. Have a special schedule for number of days to not train. Like train 5 Days low intensity rest for 1 day, 2 days for medium intensity and 3 days or more for higher intensity training. For example train at high intensity training for 5 days, rest for 3. And train for another 5 days. I call it the 5/3 regimen. Really helps with power and speed along with strength. And with sleep have an advanced sleep regimen with nutrition, sleeping techniques and strategies, brain stimulation for sleep enhancement, apps and technology to greater help with sleep even more. A+ quality sleep 9 hours a day or more. To really train like Batman and recover as well as possible. You must double or even triple your recovery regimen and sleep regimen as well combined so you can last perhaps 20+ years being Batman. Most versions of Batman have to quit after a decade due to the fact his body gets destroyed from the strain.

Love your channel. If you aren't familiar with Moshe Feldenkrais I would highly suggest looking into his work. Incorporating his principles into training and just daily stuff has help prevent and resolve years of chronic issues for me personally.

I'm a physical person. Always doing something and training etc. My back went bending over funny. Had time off work ( 1.5 weeks) and my manager told me it's because I'm getting old. I'm 38. Then slapped me with a warning.

Your back injury was a huge freak accident. Twisting, bending, behind you, sick, cold, early morning...you didn't stand a chance. The real key is rate of recovery. A healthy person would be back deadlifting in 1-2 weeks at 50% and back to full numbers in 3-4.

By the way, I am a 57 year old Thai male living in the US. I still do many crazy training to be prepared for anything including long distance trail running and other stuff. Now, I am still kicking bag once in a while because I worry that I might break my leg due to my age. Can I still kick the bag and punch with my bare hand? If someone is reading this please help me with the answers.
Also, I am greatly appreciated if you could please include the age. So, that people know weather if they should be training like you or not.
Again, I love your vdo. Liked and subscribed. Keep up the good work.
    Be well.
