Guys I came across this site this morning, and as an Australian and a keen follower of 4x4 YT channels from around the world, your channel is a ‘cut above the rest’. None of the other channels come close. As a Ranger Wildtrak owner, I reckon an overland trip where elephants , lions etc cross the road in front of you would be the best. Ryan, how about a walk around tour your Ranger and trailer setup? Outstanding.
Thanks Campbell and glad you enjoy the channel. Yes, there is nothing like the wilds of Africa, and to travel these parts is just something else. The vehicle walk around is coming and the trailer walk around is up on the channel. Thanks mate. Keep well and we'll see you at the next one 🤙
Love watching your adventures. Wow. Yes the Kruger is my favourite place in the world. Been there 43 times in my life. Hope to visit there again one day. My ashes and families will be scattered there. Just the best place

@@4x4ventures_southafrica I am from New Zealand in South Africa on business. I am going back to Kruger for a few days next week. I am enjoying your videos and also Edward Bath's. Made with knowledge and passion.
Most enjoyable a great trip Kruger is always amazing. Would like to see more of your fire side chats and what you cook. Great to see all the fantastic scenery but perhaps too much road !
Thank you Sheila, and yes, Kruger is a special place. Working on the fire side chats, and our food cooking is a bit plain if I'm honest, but we'll see how it goes. Yes, the road travels is there to showcase journey. Hopefully we get it right, but thank you for your feedback. Enjoy your festive season. Cheers
Guys, I like your videos, very informative. And actually they help me know more about my country Botswana and where to go really. Your choice of music is super impressive. I call the second song, after the introduction by the black guy, your signature song. I love it. I wish I knew the name. I'd buy it and play it in my car full blast while driving on Botswana's roads! Good job guys.

Yes, it is quality footage! And there is no shortage of brilliant overlanding opportunities in South (and Southern) Africa! Yes, Australia is a great place to overland, no question, but the experience is such a different one there is no point in direct comparison - speaking from one who has extensive experience in both places... A lot of Saffers would love to overland in Oz, and a lot of Aussies would love to overland in RSA and Southern Africa! Just as it should be!

This is by far my new favourite channle. As a fellow Bakkie owner in Zim (Even though it is a D-Max) I must say I have always been a fan of the Ranger and I love what you have done with it Ryan. Question - What are you supposed to do if you meet elephants (or any wild animals) whilst on the road? I am planning a trip to Hwange with my wife and could sure use some tips. Thanks for the great content to your team as well keep up the lekker work!!
Thank you Nathan, and there is nothing wrong with your DMax. Solid as they come mate. Cool, so with elephants the only thing needs to keep in mind is distance. 200m is a good place to start. If there are really young ones then give the Ellie’s more space. Normally the matriarch will let you know. Aggressive flapping of ears, trunk playing with grass, and leg bending are tell tell signs that you are too close. Always leave the car running and either reverse gear if Ellie’s are in front or second gear if Ellie’s are behind you. Rather view these gentle giants from a distance, with respect, admiration and with the understanding that with a breath of wind, an Ellie can change its mood to a not so favourable one. Enjoy it legend, and again, thank you for your support mate and kind words 🤙
07:50 I think you meant to say ecologists, biometrics is the study of measurements and calculations related to human characteristics, it is a term widely used with computer science especially for authentication. But nice videos, I enjoy watching your channel and hope one day I will get a chance to overland 😊😊
Don't wait too long. Everything is beginning to be priced for Overseas tourists, which is going to make it a very very costly thing to do, if it isn't already.
Have signed up to Patreon Ryan ! Keep up the good work and best of luck. Meet up when I get down to SA from Cayman Islands and get to pick up my ‘new’ 105 FTE from Paul Marsh 👍
I have been watching many of your and Edward Bath's videos lately. I have enjoyed all of them and they are all an inspiration. My 11 years old boy is crazy about your Conqueror Trailer. He has hinted at the idea that I should get one. I have to break it to him that daddy's double cab is a 2.2 4x2 (Mazda BT50) and not a 4x4. I partially regret that purchase too. But realistically, how far can a 4x2 take one? Can you recommend any of the places you go to that is suitable for a 4x2?
Ryan please do a walk through of your Ranger soecially the canopy setup! I have a Ranger and want nto kit my canopy out, it looks like your canopy has alot of stuff I want to fit to mine.

Amazing vid im glad i found someone as passionate as i for there pickup an offroadin. I wud never part with my pickup wat about u wat does your pickup mean to u plz tell us?
Hi your videos are awesome👍 I have a couple of questions if you don’t mind? Is it not a schlep towing a trailer around compared to the more minimalistic rooftop tent? I understand if your family were with you, but you on your own? Lastly on that type of trip how the hell did you manage to book all these campsites to suit your itinerary? Did you book like 12 months in advance? Booking places is a nightmare for me.
Hey Fergus, thanks for your comment and queries. So, the strange thing is that both the roof top tent and trailer are about the same amount of hard work. The roof top tent means you pack up and pack down for every drive you want to do. The trailer is magic for base camp, with minimum 3 nights stays. Allot of work though and lose some kilos 🤣 We fortunate in that Chris from @get.out.go makes the itinerary and bookings. We booked this literally 2 weeks ahead of the trip. But on it all the time. Lucky maybe, as I know it can be a real mission
Would it make sense manage the Honey Badger issue similar to that while in "Bear Country" in North America? Could the same apply to other critters that have become acclimated to humans and bold (re: those monkeys, whose proper name escapes me)?
Hi Lloyd, we chatted about it. I believe that the parks board had a relocation program, but, the badgers are very territorial, and keep coming back. Look, they are tough and very very intelligent. Obviously they shouldn't be put down, as we are in their territory and are themselves a very rare sighting in the wild. Best solve is for a better / hardier solve on rubbish bins, refuse protection, and wildlife management. There is a way without destruction. For the time being, we nervously enjoyed them around camp, as we should do, and always be. The African wild is the wild, and we are mere spectators. Hope there is a solve and not at the detriment of anyone getting hurt or the badgers existence
@@4x4ventures_southafrica Thanks for the reply. I agree with all that you said. My thoughts were along the lines of the parks doing more to (more fully?) inform the users of how important it is from a safety aspect to remove the possibility of the animals from obtaining any food un-naturally (flyers/handouts at the gates to start with?), instruct them on how to do so, hopefully install/provide animal-proof receptacles for the temporary storage of food stuffs, and (if needed(?) check/enforce that they are being used and that the users keep their campsites clean during and after their stay. The only thing I know of to use as an example is the "Bear Proof" scheme, I haven't searched for others but I've no doubt they exist. Heck, it would be great PR for various overland groups or association(?) to do as an "Adopt a Park" (or zone/area, campsites, etc) ongoing project in addition to being another excuse to get out there and "do nature". I don't want to make sure that I don't come across as a "know it all"; I freely admit that I don't know the scope of the issue and have zero experience with any of those critters. (I don't think that you took it that way, I'm just being proactively defensive - I'm 4th Gen Frisian/Groningen-American, lol.) "Thinking out-loud and trying to help" is all. The thought of one tearing into an occupied tent, God forbid....
Beautiful video and well captured. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful side of South Africa 🇿🇦. Looking forward to next videos.

Man, I'd love to do this one day 😋
Don't wait too long.
Wow, that sounds amazing, and really appreciate your support Alan. Reach out when you get here mate. Would appreciate the meet up.

What was that beautiful animal with the very long tail and black stripes around it light gray with black patches on it. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you Dianne, it is a spotted genet. A very special little night time creature. Always a favourite of ours to see in any campsite we visit.

Travel rig is a 2.2 Ranger xl plus with Infanta Enkulu 1 caravan 🙂
Hey Andre. Give me a shout mate, putting my whole unit up for sale. Some big things coming, and it will save you some bucks. Walk around coming mate, promise. Email me ryananimation@gmail.com if you keen bud

Hello Ryan, I’m an avid follower and subscriber.. I just wanted to ask when are you coming to tour Namibia? It’s long overdue 😎
Thank you. I would love to do Namibia. It all boils down to cost mate. Help me get there. Support me on Patreon. www.patreon.com/4x4ventures

Thanks for the reply.
(I don't think that you took it that way, I'm just being proactively defensive - I'm 4th Gen Frisian/Groningen-American, lol.)
"Thinking out-loud and trying to help" is all. The thought of one tearing into an occupied tent, God forbid....
Name of the song, at the beginning?
