Hi Henry, so as the water pump stands now it's done? The clearance is done by the looks but did you turn the engine over at this point? One check I did remembering it, I turned the engine over by the key (no firing, as disabled) so I could see the impellor turn in situ. If it is sat down properly, then it should not 'spin' up & out of the housing, and the gears between the shaft & water pump are meshed correctly, meaning it is sat down fully, I guess. I hate to throw doubt at this point it's been an ordeal for you, but a last check with the nail polish once it's torqued down and engine turned a few times would be my last check before walking away. I never did like working on that engine especially the water pump, you always have doubts until the engine runs.
