@@GenghisKhan311 I’m glad they are resolving your issue! You will feel a much bigger difference in performance with your rear wheel, plus it will complete the image of your bike 👌
Sad watching this and realizing how many of those houses and businesses are gone. The Reel Inn was one of my favorite restaurants. Great videos though 👍.
Bike sounds wicked. Nice review. Initial weight difference on the wheels may seem small, but since it is rotational mass, the effect on performance is huge. The wheel design allows for keeping more of the mass towards the center hub instead of the outer rim.
On the brakes, since the rotors are new you most likely need more material on them for friction. I ran GPFAX on the track and street and once that material got on the rotors ohhh man, snap your neck braking. Side note Sunday its time to jump back on my RSV4 got the MTorque map also. Nice vid dude.
I have read that even though forged aluminum wheels may only be 2-4lbs lighter than oem, it's more about where the weight is located on the wheel than the absolute difference in weight. Forged wheels are thinner at the rim and spokes, which is why you can feel a difference.
It is not the weight itself that is so interesting, but the effect of the weight on the physically determined gyroscopic forces of the wheels. And these are decisive for the handling and straight-line stability of motorcycles.
Unrelated to the video. How do you think the sound of the v4 compares to the 660? I love the sound of the v4, the deep tone and punch that you can feel in your bones. On video the two bikes sound somewhat similar despite the 660 being a paralell twin.
@@jobolarius Both bikes on video sound nothing like they sound live. In person they have a similar tone. If anything, the RS660 sounds more like an R1 on low and mid rpm. But nothing truly sounds like an RSV4. The RSV4 is very unique. Nothing beats that sound. Not to say that other bikes don’t sound amazing. There is just something about the RSV4 that gives you goosebumps. As great as the 660 can sound with an SC Project CRT, it sounds far from an RSV4. ✌️
How is the 520 chain holding up? I put on a lot of miles on my RSV4 (8xx if I ride every day per week). So kinda of worried about longevity with a 520 chain.
How are you satisfied with the stock suspension? Any plans on upgrading? I have in my head that you mentioned stock suspension in one of the videos where you switched to the forged wheels, but I can't find that part now 😄
@@paskalns The stock suspension is great if you are within the weight limit. I would say anything under 180lbs with gear is good. You can push it up to 200lbs. The rear suspension rebound is amazing. The spring preload is also good for the same weight. You can get away with changing the fork springs if you are above 180lbs. I’m not a huge fan of the fork valving so for that reason if I change suspension I will change the internals completely. But overall the stock suspension performs great if you are within the weight and skill level.
@ALFAVITAGA ah, great, thanks for the fast response 🙌 yes, I'm around 65kg (150lbs) without gear 😃 completely agree with the fork valving, i would change everything also if I decide to do something 💪 thanks bro, best channel so far I've seen about RSV4. I have such an obsession now over the rsv4 Looked at lots of your videos but a year ago you bought a malotti top yoke ( top triple tree) along with new clip ons and I see it's still not on. Any reason for that. Thank you.
@@robertclark5733 Good catch! I still have the Melotti triple and Bonamici clip ons. I’m installing them tomorrow. So you have the Core Moto Apex-6 wheels now, have you thought about installing Core Moto stainless steel brake lines? Seems like a logical addition considering all the very nice brake upgrades you have done.
@@akersquarteracre8002 I will look into it. My guess is that as long as I keep the ABS, steel brake lines won’t make much of a difference. But not a bad addition 👌
@@ALFAVITAGA Core Moto has RSV4 brake line data for non-ABS 2008-2010 models only, but they can make custom lines if you provide them with the specifications you need. Highly recommended.
@@akersquarteracre8002 My guess as to why Core Moto does not have brake lines for RSV4 models 2011 and above, is because of the ABS module. Upgraded brake lines don’t offer much in brake feel and responsiveness if you keep the ABS. But they do look great and the fact that you can add a logo is a nice touch. If they make custom brake lines that can connect to the ABS that would be a nice addition.
Breaking and entering corner are top, on the exit the Bike is more nervous, I did try different setting, change of rear suspension, no improvment.Do you have the same?
@@Alex1090-d2j Oh boy! You just hit a complicated subject that I have been struggling with. I’m not sure what do you mean by nervous, but on the exit I feel a bit less confident. Not because it’s not stable, the bike is on rails on both exit and entry, but because I don’t feel a lot of front grip to open the throttle harder. This only applies to the high lean, fast entry turns. Any other exit turn I’m on the throttle no problem. My conclusion is two thoughts. One, skill. Without offending yours or mine, I’m referring to a potential pro rider that can push the bike on exit harder than we can and utilize its full potential. Two, geometry setup. Just like you, I have fine-tuned the suspension of my bike. And yet I feel that it may need a bit more anti-squat. A lot of riders tune their suspension, only to find out they have no static sag. With no static sag you will have limited or no anti-squat, resulting on less front grip on exit. Too restricted rear rebound can have a similar effect. Too much front compression or preload can also have similar result. Since I have spent a lot of time fine-tuning my suspension and I increased the rear sprocket by one tooth to increase anti-squat, I still feel less confident on exit. My next conclusion is increasing the anti-squat from the swingarm pivot brackets. But by doing that I might find out that I have too much anti-squat, resulting in less rear traction and a potential highside. For the track that would be a more desirable result, as it’s always best to have a bit more traction on the front by sacrificing a bit from the rear. On the track you can get away with a bit of a rear tire drift, but thats the last thing you want on the front. I believe the swingarm pivot bracket is set for a more street oriented antisquat to create balance and a smooth ride. Most riders don’t go around pushing 55 degrees exit corners on the street. But when you do, you find out that you need a more aggressive geometry setup than what the RSV4 comes stock from factory. To summarize. I have a feeling that the bike might need a bit more anti-squat. ✌️
@@Alex1090-d2j There is really no problem. I just feel I want a little more traction on the front on exit, and more antisquat might achieve that. I will find out when I make adjustments.

From searching around the rims are ~$3000 so I’m assuming you’re including tires (with labor), rotors and pads in the $5000 price? If so, I don’t think saying it’s a 5k upgrade is fair. You can always wait to upgrade when your pads and tires need a change - those are wear items that’ll be replaced regardless if you get the rims or not. But overall I agree on being track only. You can see the difference on the street, but probably shouldn’t be riding hard enough to do so.
@@andy9775 By keeping the same tires and all components, one can even find used forged rims for around $2000. Maybe not Core Moto wheels but definitely Malgatech. I’ve even seen forged rims going for less if they have a few cosmetic defects. Essentially you could get the weight savings for less than $3k. I grouped the upgrade as a whole with all parts upgraded. Thats why it reached $5k. As a whole, I don’t think it’s worth the cost for the street.
