    I'm definitely making one of those!

    Thanks for sharing your build in action! The vane looks super reactive. How long did you cut the pendulum blade?

    Hi Kristian now you've had the windsteering a couple of years and presumably got a lot more experience, (and added the bungees) how do feel about it now? I'm half way between buying an expensive new unit and making one of these. I've made a few windsteering sets and they have been brilliant (to my surprise more than anything) but never built a pendulum/servo system - now I need need one a bigger boat 32ft, 6.5 tonnes, and without weeks of testing and improving (time I don't have) I need to find something that works on all points which I can get on the boat and working really fast - what do you reckon to this system these days? What are its biggest limitations? Thanks for the vid!

    Hi Kristian, looks great, nice job. I'm part way through building one for a similar boat at the moment and starting to think about how to treat the wood. What did you use for yours? It has a nice natural appearance and the water seems to be beading off well. Thanks, Matt.

      Hi Matthew. Thank you for your comment. I used polyurethane varnish, and I applied 8 to 10 layers.

    Hello Kristian,
    Would you know what the diameter of the wheel adapter drum?

    Hi Kristian, Are you still using the Hebridean. I am thinking of purchasing a unit, your video is the only one with wheel steering. Would you recommend this unit. Thanks

      Hi Sail Sibley. Yes, I think that the wind vane works just as well with a wheel. May be the swaord needs to be a little longer with wheel, because more force may be needed. My sword could probably be shorter, which would make it easier to handle the vane. Best regards, Kristian

    Inspirerende vidoe. Overvejer Hebridean, har en Grinde, og ligger i Sundby Sejlforening.
    Er du tilgængelig for en snak?

    Hi, what material did you use for the laminated block that you rotate to set the angle to the wind?

    • @krmped
      @krmped  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. I used a 9 mm thick kitchen cutting board (plastic/Nylon)

      Many thanks. I had an idea that's what it may have been. I'm considering building a Hebridean this year.

    what is your experience so far? how big is your boat and why havent you got the outriggers on your vane?

    • @krmped
      @krmped  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Peter. Thank you for the comment. I used the extended trunk instead of out riggers, because I thought it was easier, and because I have a wheel, I could accommodate any line configuration just by winding the lines either clock wise or counter clock vise on the wheel assembly.
      The self steerer works fine, except that I haven't fitted bungees yet, so I have difficulties with courses lower than broad reach.
