We had later gas powered F600s on our truck fleet back in the early 2000s. It is amazing to see how using modern technology they were able to kill the rough idle the early gas F600s suffered from.
My dad owns a 1972 Ford F-500 it has a 330 FT Bigblock in it very similar but its sat for 18 years it has some rough idles but over all the engine runs like it never sat
Sounds like the Accelerator Pump is Bad. Cool Truck though!! My Grandfather had a Truck Rental years ago and we had many Fords like this as well as several Cab Overs
I have a 71 with a 460, my old boss has I think a 74 4x4 with a 370 . I want to put a Cummins with a manual in mine . If I did I’d use it a lot more because it would get good fuel economy . My 460 guzzles the gas, I use 15 gallons driving to town and back .
Yes, but that was rare back then. Except for school busses. Automatics' popularity grew big time in 1970s school busses, but remained rare in medium duty trucks.
@MisterMikeTexas OK. I was wondering. I thought they were just as rare in school buses, too. I kinda knew they could have been aftermarket conversions, but I wasn't sure if they were factory made.
It must have depended on the school district. Fort Worth ISD gradually phazed out its manual transmission busses as the 1970s got underway. I remember riding in Ford and Chevy-based busses will manual at the start of the 70s, but by mid-decade, the majority of the busses were IH Loadstars with the familiar to us Allison automatics. All kids who rode in those remember the sound of that 4 speed automatic. First gear sounded like an angry cat, second sounded like a jet engine revving up, third and fourth were silent.
Great truck but it may be time to clean the dual barrel carb on that beast, it acts like my old army truck...you have to pump the gas to get it to get going. But...it sounds a lot better once you get it going down the road.
Sure do wish you'd send me a picture of that sun visor with the instructions on the 2 speed axle shifting.... I tried screen shoting it but the small writing is not readable. I've got a '75 F600 I'd like to print a sticker for my visor.
My dad used to have a '73 just like that one, I put the truck in 1st not knowing what granny gear was, and almost went through the windshield. Ahh, the first time driving a truck, I'll never forget it.😃

Nice. A GTFOuttaMyWay truck. Perfect for navigating "mostly peaceful demonstrations".
I'm not even into trucks, but I LOVE this truck!
Love the truck. What a classic! Which engine? 330, 361, or 391? We have a 72 F-700 on the farm. 361 with 5 speed and 2 speed axle.
Suprised no ones getting salty about you revving the shit out of it right after startup.
I can't say alot, mine takes forever to warm up, I get her to 2 grand and hold it
Just like driving a School bus 😁👍
When the door shuts at 10:52, the sound made me smell soybean dust.

What size motor is in this beautiful ride?
330ci V8?
Any of these ever come in automatic?
Yes, but that was rare back then. Except for school busses. Automatics' popularity grew big time in 1970s school busses, but remained rare in medium duty trucks.

Que velocidad alcanza
Why were there more Ford 600 manuals than automatics?
Automatic transmission technology wasn't up to the task yet
Because men were men in those days and they didn't need any sissy automatic transmissions
How fast does she run
cold blooded engines 330?
nice ride
Hope nobodies stolen it, considering you posted the code to that storage lot on TH-cam for everyone to see

not shore if there the same but I have. a. 86 with. the. twospeed over visser if it would help
Needs a crab rebuild accelerator is putting out enough gas. Sounds great at idel
Poor old truck needs a new carb.
Cool truck. How come it stutters right after changing gear?
Needs carb work. Accelerator pump not pushing enough fuel. Should probably do the ignition as well. Would help with manifold vacuum.
Original gasoline engine I assume ?
when pulling up from a standstill you do know it also has a first gear right? :P
My dad used to have a '73 just like that one, I put the truck in 1st not knowing what granny gear was, and almost went through the windshield. Ahh, the first time driving a truck, I'll never forget it.😃
First gear is granny gear. You only really use it when you take off pulling something heavy. Other than that you can take off in second gear
no splicer or splitter probably just gotta double clutch..
What engine in her? 330?
I think it was a 330. I sold her about a year ago to a guy who drove home across PA.
E V8 diesel ou gasolina.
É V8 a gasolina...
You should drive ower the fence! :)
nice
My uncl just bought one
Your gonna want too bring that
In the Philippines this A sugar carrier
this is ZIL 130
🚒
Sound like ZIL-130
For the love of God, learn to run a manual choke properly.
Ken Caldwell lmmfao.. totally
