Oh most definitely. I am waiting for that to be released. I've tried contacting the company and no info on the exact date. It definitely looks like a game changer for pools
The S1 is the way to go with those that have bottom drains. I had the E1 and that got stuck all the time so it had to go back. I think if they added the fine filter option to the S1, it would be perfect. Thanks for the review!
I’m bought this for Amazon prime day, as a new pool owner. I just wanna say thank for this review. I couldn’t figure out if it should be running after enabling echo mode but this review answered every question I had with this product. Last thing is I have a salt water pool is it ok to leave in for 3-5 days at a time?
Thank you! You should be fine leaving it in the pool. Eco mode is designed to be left in the pool for about a week. These cleaners nowadays are built to withstand salt and chlorine corrosion. You will be fine! 👍
Excellent review and demo. Your videos are so extremely helpful. I ended up getting that Betta solar skimmer based on your reviews. I really like it and it works, it does exactly what I need. So here I am again checking out all of your vacuum reviews and I think I'm going to go with the S1. Thanks
Hi David! Thank you for the transparency! I saw on Amazon that there is a new Betta surface cleaner that is solar-powered and can be charged; it’s priced very well and has a $30 off coupon. Have a wonderful weekend!
That would quite possibly be the best thing to happen all year! But... knowing Aiper they're always on and off... I wouldn't hold my breath lol. They've been known to cancel plans. If it happens though, that'd be awesome
Hi David... Great job on all your your videos... You really cover all the basics.. To improve your reviews I just suggest you add the availability of replacement parts.. Many of these robots do not offer replacement parts which should be considered when purchasing a cleaner... Just an observation... Thanks for your great videos... Mark
Nice review thanks! Question, in eco mode is it set to do walls and floor evenly? Also, in floor only mode will still climb the stairs to clean them or is that considered part of wall mode ? Thanks
In eco mode it will only clean the floors of the pool. Doesn't climb walls/ledges/waterline. Turns on every other day for about a week. On floor only mode, it will clean only the floor as well. No ledges/walls/waterline. But in floor mode it runs longer than in eco mode in one run. It will only climb the walls in "Floor and Wall" mode or "Wall mode". Hope that helps!
Thank you for the review. I had the seagull pro and loved it but it does get stuck in drains. I just returned it and bought this one. Excited for the upgrades and improvements. -Nick
I have both and hands-down, the Scuba S1 works better than the Seagull Pro does. It moves in a more consistent pattern and I feel like it picks up more debris.
Hi, David. LOVE your videos and comparisons. Thank you SOO much for doing those. I've narrowed my choice to the Aiper Scuba S1 and the Wybot C1. Do you have a recommendation as to which one to purchase between the two?
Glad the videos help! If you can spend a little more, I would recommend the Scuba S1 over the C1. This is because the C1 is wifi dependant on switching modes/timer as opposed to the more simple Scuba S1 where you can select modes directly on the cleaner itself. There are times wifi just doesn't work so I prefer a physical control over wifi first always. Another great thing, right now, if you check out the Scuba S1 on their main website, you can apply the coupon code "ASAP15" and save an extra 15%. Oh and there's free shipping and no tax! Makes it equal to the C1 in terms of cost at this moment. But I don't know how long that sale/code will last.
I just got the Scuba S1 delivered yesterday evening. (I also just got the SURFER S1, which works very well.) I charged it up last night and put it in the pool this morning and had it in automatic mode. I came back close to an hour later and - because my pool is cloudy right now - I couldn't find it. I had to put on some swim goggles and dive for it. It was in the deep end near the bottom, and I think it was trying to climb the wall - the scrubbers were turning - but was staying in one spot. I grabbed it by the scrubbers (water was too cloudy to see anything in order to hook it from topside) and pulled it out. When I opened the basket, it was half full of probably dead algae (I recently had some pool problems) which, of course, is very dense and very heavy. I'm wondering whether that much weight was just more than the Scuba could lift - it was just weighted down when trying to climb the wall. If so, once I finally get that algae out of the pool, maybe the Scuba will do fine in maintaining a less problematic pool. (I also wonder whether that very fancy robot you reviewed - the Beatbot Aquasense Pro - might do better at lifting very heavy silt and algae because it might have a more powerful motor.) I cleaned it out and put it back in the pool, but this time in the bottom-only mode. That's the stuff I have to clean up and maybe if it's only going horizontally on the bottom, rather than trying to climb vertically up a wall, the weight of the dead algae won't stop it. We'll see ...
Oh for sure if your pool is super dirty it'll struggle. Every cleaner will struggle with a pool that's in that condition. All cleaners, expensive or bargain brand are designed for maintaining a pool in "good shape". It can be dirty, just not so dirty you can't see what's in the water. And yes, it would be normal for any cleaner to slow down when the debris basket is getting full because it's sucking and trying to filter out debris and water flow. In general, the Beatbot AP would do better filtering and cleaning out your pool because of yes, the motors and power, but also because of the ultra-fine filter basket. What I'd do is exactly what you're doing. Keep running it over and over and see how it goes.
Great review, thanks for taking the time. I was looking at a maytronics CC but didnt like the cord and lack of waterline. This Scuba S1 is the same price on sale and seems to do a Lot more. Is there any downside to this unit and do you think it will be durable in the long run?
I would pick the Scuba over the CC anyday lol! It has more features and genuinely works better in the pool. The downside to the cleaner is that you will have to recharge it whenever it's low on battery so there's no constant power like the corded CC does. The Scuba itself physically feels nice and solid. It has the same 2 year warranty as dolphin cleaners do as well so that's also a plus. I'm really loving the Scuba right now lol
@@imdefinitelydavid honestly, this review made the process of choosing a pool robot more interesting for me haha. I'm kinda excited to get the Scuba S1 now. Thanks for the reply.
Sorry for the late reply! For some reason this comment was sent to "Held for Review" section and I rarely check those. I haven't had the chance to test a "2024" version of the Seagull Pro but on paper, it looks exactly the same as the year before... I think they just rebranded the name but kept it the same. I feel more like the actual 2024 model is really the Scuba S1 version. So the Scuba S1 is the newer model of the Seagull Pro lol
I'm glad it helped! Unfortunately, Aiper doesn't have an ultra-fine filter for this S1 at the moment. The ultra-fine filter will only be included on the Pro model which has yet to be released(supposed to be soon). A lot of companies do this on purpose so we're forced to buy the more expensive model. They might release an ultra-fine basket for this version but I haven't heard anything about it.
I bought this Aiper scuba S1 and love it. Just found out today that Aiper will also release another model Aiper scuba s1 pro, and I have pre-ordered it from Aiper website.
Out of the cordless cleaners I've tested so far in 2024 I'd say yes. But that's according to my own needs. Every owner is different. For example, I really need a weekly timer with my cordless cleaner so the Scuba S1 wins over other cleaners like the Seauto Seal. But for other pool owners, they might not need a weekly timer. And the Seal is cheaper so that wins in that case. Hope that makes sense!
@@imdefinitelydavid Thanks for the answer, David. I have one more question. There are 2 models on the Scuba Internet, the N1 and the S1. What is the difference between them?
From my understanding, the normal S1 and N1 are the same but marketed in different stores. Like the S1 version is the only one on Amz and the N1 version would be sold in-store at your local pool supply. Inside, the same. Outside, just different colors. I don't understand really why they did this. Aside from maybe wanting to charge more or less depending on where it's sold.
I really enjoy your reviews. I have a rectangular pool and was looking to either get this or the Wybot S1. They are priced similar and have similar features. The wybot has app features which might give it the edge. However I’d like to get your feedback before I buy. Thanks.
I have not used the Wybot S1 yet but I know that that is last years model. Take a look at the Wybot C1. I'm actually working on a video for the C1 right now and will posting it sometime next week depending on how busy I get. It's the new model for the year and the same as the wybot S1 I think but for this year. The Scuba S1 is great but yes, it doesn't have app control.
I just received the wybot s1. It gets stuck in my 8” shelf. When it attempts to clean the waterline of the shelf it flips over and stops working. How does the aiper perform on your shallowest step? Do you have any recommendations for a cordless robot that can clean a shallow shelf?
The Scuba S1 works great on my shelf. Doesn't flip over when it reaches the waterline. I haven't used the Wybot S1 but I'm working on the C1 right now and it also doesn't flip over at the waterline on the shelf.
And hello. Small return after first Scuba dive, quite satisfied with the result even if I don't really see it yet, haaa this rain coming from there (Sahara) . I have already emptied the filter twice, it retains the kind of mud well, I am quite surprised. Like every year it will take 4 to 5 days for the water to be translucent.
Sounds about right. From pool opening, it'll take multiple runs to get it clear. I'm assuming you're also putting some chemicals in there too. Let me know how it goes! 👍
@@imdefinitelydavid Yes, shock chlorination, but I waited to put the robot in the water. There he is in charge. afterward, it’s bromine. Like every year .
Hi David. Kudos to your wonderful work and very well detailed and objective reviews 🤘. I was hoping to pick your brain, I have a rectangular 12 x 24 in ground pool with 3 regular stairs and I'm not looking for any smart features and budget isn't a problem. Would this S1 model be ideal if I'm looking for cordless options? Does this model climb regular 1 foot by 6 (X3)foot stairs? And is battery degradation something to worry about? If not this model, in the cordless what other options would you recommend for quality, convenience and longevity? Really appreciate your input!
The Scuba S1 is very impressive for the price. I have to mention how much I dislike Aiper as a company lol but dammit, they make a good robot! Steep stairs won't be an issue for the S1. I don't remember if I show it in the video but it climbs steps well. IMO it has a solid pattern that it follows well as opposed to other cordless cleaners. One of the best simple plug n plays
Thanks David. Apparently there is also a Solar adapter and a floating base you can get that connects the device with the Aiper app. Any info on that and if you will demo it? As well as the SI Pro
Yes and yes! I've been waiting for that solar panel adapter as well. No news yet for release date. I'm excited because you can use it for both the S1 and S1 Pro. I'm curious to see how well it will keep the cleaner charged in the pool. Eco mode is a week so even if it extends it by another week more, I think it'd be worth it. Well of course, depending on the price that is. And yes, once the S1 Pro is released I also plan on getting one to review!
@@imdefinitelydavid Do you know if the HydroComm Buoye that will soon be release will only be exclusive to the S1 pro or will it also be compatible with the S1?
From my understanding it's supposed to work on both the normal S1 and S1 Pro models. Hopefully it's released soon. Everything they have ever released gets pushed back lol
Hi David, thanks for the review! I was wondering when put into ECO mode and left in the pool for a week, if you can close the pool cover or best to leave it open?
The Scuba S1 and N1 Pro shouldn't be the same price. Think you might be looking at the Scuba S1 Pro vs the N1 Pro? They're priced the same. The normal S1 is great but the S1 Pro version is a step up with improved waterline cleaning, bigger debris basket, ultra-fine filter, and online app. The difference between the S1 Pro and N1 Pro from my understanding is very minimal and one might be sold only in stores and the other online.
Hi David, Thanks for your thorough review of this automatic pool cleaner. I am a pool service man, and I am interested in getting one of these products because I sometimes need to work on repairs and other pool maintenance besides pool cleaning when I am at my client's pool site. I want a cordless pool cleaner that can vacuum the floor only and can be done in half an hour or less. How long do you think it takes to finish vacuuming your pool floor with just the floor cleaning mode? Do you have any idea what life span would be for the battery for this pool cleaner? If the battery completely dies, do you know if there's a battery replacement available? Any of your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hello! Wow, what a question! A cleaner that cleans the floor only in half an hour or less is very specific lol. Depending on the size of the pools it would take more or less time. This Scuba S1 would actually do a great job at it. If you focus on just the floors of the pool, it cleans for about 45 minutes straight. This doesn't mean that the battery needs to be charged right after one use. On floor only mode you'll get about 3 full runs of floor mode out of it before needing to charge it! The life span for this S1 battery should be at least 2 years according to Aiper's warranty. And it's not simple to actually replace the battery. It's built inside the cleaner and must be taken apart to replace. Since it's a new cleaner we can't really tell how long this battery will last unfortunately.
Hi David. Thank you for your information... So... How do you think it will be handled with traces of sand inside or accumulation of dust on the bottom that appear after the pool is completely cleaned? Will you clean it? My pool is small, it doesn't usually have tree leaves or anything like that..... Your answer will be very valuable to me. thank you
The Scuba S1 will do ok with that smaller dust but it won't be able to catch it all since it has only a fine-filter basket. For that smaller debris, I wish they at least offered to sell an ultra-fine filter basket with the normal S1 but they don't. They only include an ultra-fine option on the higher model S1 Pro version unfortunately
And hello, it arrived this morning, cool. It's bigger than I thought (in the video, you don't realize the size) My pool is smaller than yours 8.50mX4.20m (or 334 inchx265 inch, I think lol). Its electric autonomy will largely match this fact. He will take his first bath next week when the pool is completely renovated 😂.
Hey, may I ask you if it is capable to climb over small stairs as yours as well? I do not have such a large tanning ledge, but just small stairs. Thanks.
Climbs steps well. My two bottom steps are only about a foot tall and it climbs them easy. But if you have a step at the top with shallow water it won't climb up those. I have two top corner steps/ledges that have only about 6 inches of water that it wont climb. There isn't enough water for it to be submerged if that makes sense.
Thanks for making this video. I notice that you have the standard hose vacuum robot in the background of some of your shots. What does that do that the Scuba S! doesn't do?
I have a Polaris pressure side cleaner that I use in the off-season when there's very little debris in the pool, and I'm gone for longer than a week. Cordless cleaners at most go for about a week. The Scuba S1 cleans much better and efficiently than the Polaris does. It's just that the Polaris is more convenient in different situations. Like when I'm gone for weeks.
Love the video. How does this model compare to something like a s200 dolphin? Want to get the best value cleaner that cleans the walls, water line and floor. Please tell me your suggestions. Thank you.
At the level at the time, the S200 would be on the same level as the Aiper Scuba S1. Everything the S200 did, aside from being corded, the Scuba S1 does as well. You just have to adjust to using a cordless cleaner I'd say.
@@imdefinitelydavid thank you for the quick response. The reason I am so nervous about the S1 is aiper said the battery could not be replaced as they do not sell a replacement if it goes bad in 2 years. As an expert in the pool stuff, would you be worried or concerned???
With any cleaner, corded or cordless there's always that chance. Big names like Dolphin have been around for a while so we know they last. Aiper is still fairly new, the first Aiper I used was the Seagull Pro and that was over 2 years ago. But 2 years is a general period, it really should be based how much longer it lasts and unfortunately it's still too new to know. What I will say is that, all of these rechargeable batteries WILL eventually lose a percentage of their max charge. That's just how rechargeable batteries work in general so I always expect a degrading battery over time, BUT it should be only after the warranty period expires
Ibought a new seagull 3000 from Aiper, however the wifi doesn't work as they have removed support from the App for this model. Even more worrying is the fact that I can't order a replacement drive belt for it as they have discontinued this model in 2023. The small drive belt on pool cleaners can be considered a consumable, it they have discontinued any spare parts in less than a year then it will become a very expensive brick.
Have recently purchase the Scuba 1 Pro and it cannot do everything that the manufacturers at Aiper and a lot of these "Review" clips claim. It cannot handle relatively mild changes in pool gradient at all, and apparently (according to their customer service team) it doesn't work as expected with smooth materials. It certainly doesn't work with my standard ceramic pool tiles, even though they are 15 years old and anything but smooth! Wall cleaning mode struggles with the pool gradient and cannot advance along the wall, apparently because my pool has slightly rounded pool transitions from floor to wall. And it doesn't always manage to dock at the pool edges when the battery runs down. And finally, I think that their customer service team is an AI platform (and a poor one at that), as they appear to answer all questions with common (sometimes irrelevant) answers, and do not try to reach any sort of resolution other than to update the firmware again (even if you've clearly stated that it is up to date). Or that the machine seems to be operating correctly!
Great review but the Scuba S1 does not work well with what I will call a free form pool. My pool is 40x20 and it’s not a straight rectangular shape with 4 straight corners and 90 degree angle walls. Each corner is cross cut - small octagon shape (hope that makes sense) and the walls flange out starting at the transition from shallow to deeper depth. Also the drop to deep end is not that gradual. The device starts and stops, cannot go from wall to wall and does a wheelie on almost every move. It did work its way around the pool, but misses many spots as it tracks in a short random pattern. Not sure there is any solution. Would be interested in any advice you may have or a better product for my pool.
Sounds like the Scuba S1 isn't quite as powerful enough for your pool size. I have heard of the S1 struggling with deeper end transitions, so it makes sense. You might want to take a look at the big brother model, the S1 Pro. It's more powerful and should do better on deep ends.
Hi, it's ok, the robot is ordered, it should arrive between April 19 and 23. Looking forward to seeing him at work 😉. I thought I read that they also sold solar panels to charge it, I'm going to find out
Congrats! I hope it works well for you! And yes, I'm excited for the solar panel as well! I don't think it will be released until the Pro models are released at the very earliest.
@@imdefinitelydavid Ok, so not for the S 1 then? Too bad . Have a good day or evening, I don’t know anymore. Ps: I sent an email to Asper to find out a little more 😉 .
It's also for the S1 version as well but hasn't been released yet. So the normal S1 and S1 Pro will be able to use it. At least that's what was listed before.
@@imdefinitelydavid Hello, bad news, response from Aiper: "Regarding the solar charger, we regret to announce that the plan is now canceled. Therefore, there is currently no such charger for your machine. Your kind understanding will be highly appreciated". We will do without.
Hello from germany😁 What is he doing with the stairs in that corner? I have stairs in my pool coveri ng one of the small sides from bottom to waterside Greets Bernd
Hello! It actually climbs stairs well. The very bottom step is about a foot tall and right next to it is another step about another foot and the Scuba climbs up with no issues.
At the price point yes! It's the only cordless cleaner right now that I've tested where you can physically change modes on the cleaner itself AND have a weekly timer. With no need for wifi or an app to do it.
Curious about one more thing: You mention (@6:20) that when the charge is down to 15%, the unit will park itself at the end of the pool for retrieval. Does it know to park itself in the SHALLOW end (where I put it in, and where it would be easiest to fish out: I could climb in and grab it if necessary), or might it park itself, less conveniently, at the deep end?
Unfortunately it's random. I think wherever it is when it hits the battery percentage in the pool, it'll go forward until it senses a wall, then park itself there. It doesn't keep searching for an alternate wall even if it has more battery to find one. Wish it did
"Why do you do this?" "...because robots are cool." We have the S1 now, he seems... a bit special sometimes on the transition from shallow to deep end. It doesn't seem to follow the same pattern yours does, and I think it gets confused on the transition from shallow to deep end - it pops wheelies like it is climbing walls
I have one ordered already, just waiting for it to be shipped. One thing I did notice is that it now says "in stock" instead of "pre-order" so it must be soon.
@@imdefinitelydavid can’t wait for your review on that. I’m wondering if the ultra fine filter, additional sensors, horizontal waterline cleaning, and ability to connect to that solar panel make it a better option than the Polaris freedom and/or Dolphin Liberty.
On paper, it seems to be better and costs less so fingers crossed. One thing I did hear is that the solar panel might not be released, at least not at the same time as the Pro. Might be discontinued or added later on during the year. But I hear a lot of things lol so don't take my word
Unfortunately the longevity of the lithium battery life will always be a big factor at least for me in purchasing a cordless pool cleaner. There are many reviews out for the dolphin models and they will never have the power as a corded unit. Lithium batteries can only be charged so many times and there rated capacity will diminish over time meaning it's run time will get shorter. Are there replacement batteries available for the consumer to replace or will it have to be sent back? I've had many cordless lithium products over the years and some last and some don't. Time will tell and hopefully some users of this will chime in down the road on there experiences with the battery life.
Three years or so ago, I would agree with the corded vs cordless debate. Nowadays though, I've used quite a few cordless cleaners with much more power than Dolphin corded cleaners. The real benefit is the constant power supply of being corded. It's more consistent because of it as opposed to cordless cleaners which will start to clean less efficiently as the battery goes down. It's true that batteries degrade over time. I've been fortunate to have tested both the first big name brand cordless cleaners. The Dolphin Liberty and the Polaris Freedom. It's been over 2 years now and although I've been on and off using these two brands, most recently I've began to retest them out again and I would say they're still running like the first week I bought them. I do however, alternate between many many cleaners as you can see. Unfortunately the batteries are built inside these cleaners so yes, we still have to send them off for repair.
@@imdefinitelydavid David, can you include the type of Lithium batteries that come in these cordless pool vacs, I noticed most have Lithium-ion and i recently saw one with a Lithium Polymer. Hopefully these manufacturers will start using the safer LifePO4 batteries which have longer charging cycles and won't catch fire. I enjoy your reviews..
They are lithium ion batteries according to my rep. Thanks for the info regarding these type of batteries. I don't really get that technical but good to know.
How’s it compared to the shark? Ordered the shark as our pool is being built. Can you run more than one pool cleaner at the same time like the s1 and shark?
I actually prefer the Scuba S1 over the Shark. It costs more but that weekly timer is awesome for a cordless cleaner. But the Shark is more aggressive for waterline cleaning. So depends on what you need. I've never heard of two floor cleaning robots on at the same time. Only a floor cleaner and a surface skimmer cleaner at the same time, that's actually what I do. If they're BOTH cordless cleaners then I can't imagine it doing any harm to each other if they run into each other. It'd be just like hitting a wall and backing out. But definitely not two CORDED cleaners, that's a definite no there.
The S1 and N1 are almost the same cleaner but designed to be sold in different "stores". S1 is sold mostly from online retailers like Amz or online pool stores. Whereas the N1 is sold more likely in stores like your local pool supply store or even lowes, etc. But some stores even have both available(like Wlmrt). It gets confusing but generally the same. Physically they have different colors and the buttons are a little different. Inside the cleaner is the same but the N1 is rated about 10 more GPH than the S1 so slightly better but negligible. And I think the N1 comes with extra roller brushes in the box. So what I'd do is buy the one that's the less expensive option really. They work almost identical 👍
@@imdefinitelydavidThanks Buddy . Love your videos and finally got my self the Scuba S1 and so far I’m very impressed. It climbs my ledges and the battery seems to last longer than the 2.5 hours.
Aside from the name(N1 vs S1) and visually a different color, both cleaners are the same inside. They perform exactly the same. The reason why they have two names is because one version is marketed towards certain retailers and the other version, to other retailers. The S1 series is sold on Amz and other online retailers and not sold in stores. The N1 series however, is sold on other online retailers as well as in-store like your local pool supply store or Lowes, etc. Hope that makes sense!
No I'm pretty sure there's a sensor in it that senses water or lack of water. If it reaches the edge and it's not submerged enough in water, it should back back down into the pool. Similar to how it acts on my very tiny step in the bottom right corner. This step is the tallest and most shallow step in my pool. When the Scuba S1 reaches it it tries to climb up it but after about and inch or so above the step(no water) it backs back down and away from it. Hope that makes sense!
Hello! Thank you so much for your video 😃 does the filter pick up sand and algae on the bottom? Thank you. It’s between the SG pro and the scuba n1 for me.
The normal Scuba S1 will pick up only a little sand and algae. It doesn't have an ultra-fine filter so if you get a lot of that smaller debris like that, the S1 wouldn't work, at least not very well for it.
Unfortunately at the moment, for a CORDLESS cleaner with ultra-fine filter. There are very few options for that price range. The only one that I tested with that option in that price range was the Seauto Shark but it is currently not for sale anywhere. All other cordless cleaners with upgraded filters are $1k+ unfortunately. Does it have to be cordless or does corded work? Corded cleaners have more choices for the price.
Thank you for all of your help 😃 there’s the Aiper Scuba s1 pro with the ultra fine filtrer. It’s more money…especially here in Canada for the currency change. (But it’s $200 off right now)Have you done reviews on that one? I think to pick up algae, fine sand and microparticules will really help me this pool season, and help keep my levels in the pool normal. I had a hard time last year, between the algae and particles from forest fires and the rain. Thank you 😃
Water usually only shoots out from the outlet on the cleaner. The outlet on this is on the back of it so if it did shoot water it would be towards the back. Also, it depends on how shallow the water is on your step. The cleaner is about 8.5" tall so if your water is less than that on the step then it would have a higher chance to shoot water out. Hope that makes sense!
@@imdefinitelydavid Hello and thank you very much. In fact at the top of the steps, I have a bench which is only slightly submerged so the water will be projected out of the pool, a bit like on the Polaris 380 before I found a system at the end of the tail to prevent that . I have just contacted Aiper, marketing should begin for France soon and therefore on Amazon. I really appreciate this company which allows you to test it for 30 days i believe 😎. Greeting 😉.
Oh I know exactly what you're talking about now with the Polaris 380! I also own one. That's totally different because it's a moving tail lol. The Aiper shouldn't shoot water like that at all. Glad to hear it should be released soon over there!
@@imdefinitelydavid When returning to the Polaris, I adapted a system that avoided projection, it works well. But robot without cable, it's great. Hoping that it is as efficient as the 380 which is a good cleaner. .
The Seal is a very good valued cleaner but because the Scuba S1 has that weekly timer I would definitely choose the Scuba over it. It costs more but being able to leave a cordless cleaner for a week at a time is worth it to me. But for you, it might not be?
@@imdefinitelydavidahhhh ok make sense I appreciate it ! Thank you for the fast response. As far as performance goes would you still pick the scuba s1 ? I guess I might be more focused on performance.
Performance wise the Scuba S1 is actually quite impressive. It reaches all areas of the pool well including my steep tanning ledge and that's rare for the price range. I love the preset/predictable pattern the navigation system uses. You get much more coverage that way. The Seal has a preset pattern as well but the S1 seems more solid to me. Hope this helps!
Hi David, I was wondering if you know how it does on a built in pool with slopping sides in the deep end. Just bought a Seauto Seal and it’s not working out. Thanks
If the Seal doesn't reach that area I'm almost certain the Scuba S1 won't either. Other people with deeper ends mention that the Scuba S1 doesn't do well in those areas.
If choosing between a Surfer S1 and a Scuba S1 which would you choose if only buying one? I know they serve different functions. We currently have an old corded Polaris and also a pool guy that comes once a week to skim the pool. Would like to save $ and work somewhere!
If your corded Polaris is still working, the Surfer would be a great addition. One thing you can't do here is have both the skimmer and corded cleaner in the pool at the same time. But if you keep the Surfer in the pool and it's constantly skimming you'll have little to no debris ever reaching the floor of the pool. So this means you'll need to use the corded cleaner way less often. Just make sure to take the Surfer out when you run the corded cleaner. Then swap the Surfer back in when taking the cleaner out.
It's too thin in the pool for the sensors to know it's a cord. It treats it as debris rather than an object to get around and would try to skim it inside causing tangles and maybe damage to the cord I think.
Yes see my experience posted today June 16. Had difficulty with the slope from shallow to deep. Also had problems with sides that didn’t meet floor at 90 degree angle. Random movements around the pool, many wheelies. A completely different experience than the video posted by Def David.
@@KennethBarkoffagree I have a vinyl inground. It seems to get lost on slopes even on floor only . Definitely can not climb slope on wall mode. Pops a lot on wheelies. Sending back
If deciding between the S1 or S1 Pro for a deeper pool, both will be able to reach depths of 10 feet. But from what I've heard, the Pro model is better at reaching and cleaning the deeper end better than the normal S1 does.
The Aiper S1 Pro is even better! I have posted the video for that model as well. Please feel free to check it out. In addition, I also do a comparison video on the two.
It's the same cleaner, but Aiper lists them on Amz with multiple listings. When they do this, one day a link will work and then the next it won't. So placing all their links down just saves me time checking every listing every day. But yes, all the same cleaner with just a slight color variation in the wheel or brush, etc. Performance and inside, same cleaner.
You should be able to just fine. Most of the time you can use in-ground cleaners in above-ground pools efficiently, it's just normally you don't need as advance a cleaner for an above-ground
Honestly, the Scuba wins. As much as I love Maytronics, they're way overpriced. That's saying a lot because I do NOT like Aiper on a personal level lol. The Liberty series, the 300 in particular, was the first cordless cleaner with a weekly timer so I jumped on it and loved it. But over the past year more and more cordless cleaners have come out with comparable features(actually even better features) and at a lower price. The only benefit the Liberty has is the ultra-fine filter option. In every other aspect, the Scuba S1 wins. It's much less expensive, it's smart navigation is better, and it has WATERLINE cleaning. I also want to mention that the S1 will have a Pro version soon that will be at the $1k mark(still less expensive than the top of the line liberty 400) with ultra-fine filters, enhanced waterline cleaning, and online app controls... like Maytronics needs to up there game and make their cleaners less expensive or do somerhing special like fly for the prices they charge!
Thx for your answer. I'm kinda interested in the scuba s1 pro but I'm not sure yet if I should really go for a battery powered cleaner or just go with the dolphin e35i, which seems to be really good and also has app control features. I did not have a pool cleaning robot yet and I don't know if the wire would bother me or not.
If you haven't yet tried any pool robot at all yet then yeah, I would say go for the corded robot. However, one thing I would recommend is to look at a robot with a weekly timer. I haven't used the e35i but on paper I can see that it doesn't have one. When I used my first robotic cleaner over a decade ago it didn't have one and I didn't realize how convenient it was until after years of not having a timer. Now, it's one of the first things I look at when looking at robots. Hope that helps!
Thx for the tip. Well the e35i really has no timer. Even the e25 has a timer... But the e25 has only 1 active brush and many ppl say that the 2nd brush is really worth it. And it has no ultra fine filter. Hard to find the right one...
Strange right? You'd think a higher model would have everything the lower model does but nope. They want you to go even one model higher for both features, I'm suspecting at least. I think you're in another country for that E series so I'm not too sure.
@@imdefinitelydavid so I’ve had it for about a week. It works in a kidney shaped pool. Hugs the incline well. Battery life short leaves a little more to be desired, but it is maintaining a 144k gallon kidney shaped pool
How is this compared to aquasense pro just for cleaning and mapping.Im trying to get either the regular aquasense or suba s1.Im not interested with the skimming.
I can't speak for the normal Aquasense version but if it works the same as the Pro, I wouldn't say that the Aquasense is better at mapping the pool. It is however better at cleaning, yes. But that's because it has that dual ultra fine filter system and online app. If you don't need an ultra fine filter or an app, the Scuba S1 is better for the price. If you do need those, you might even want to wait for the Scuba S1 Pro. It should be released soon and has those features at a lower price than the normal Aquasense.
@@imdefinitelydavid Thank You! On your video it seems that the Scuba1 climbs better than the aquasense pro.It seems even better on water line cleaning. Been waiting for the Scuba pro and hopefully it comes out soon.I thought beatbot does better on mapping because of AI thats why I thought the price for the regular version is worth it but if ite overrated then Id go for the ultra fine filter of the Scuba pro at almost the same price.
I'm almost certain they won't. They want people to buy the higher end model with ultra-fine basket instead when it gets released. It's one of the reasons they can charge more
I think it would depend on if you want that weekly scheduled timer or not. If so, Scuba S1 would be my choice but that's because I specifically DO want a timer. Plus the future option of being able to plug a solar charger into it to extend battery life more. The Smonet CR6 is the best value option here. Very aggressive wall/waterline scrubber. But no timer. Not a big deal if you are okay with a great simple plug-n-play type cleaner, use when needed type. The Wybot C1 is like the combination of both the above. On sale, it's a value but it has a weekly timer. However, it's very wifi dependent and you can only access the cleaning modes and weekly timer with the app. So you have to make sure you have a good wifi connection.
@@imdefinitelydavid Out of the Scuba S1 and Wybot C1 or even the Wybot S1, who has the better customer support in your opinion? Been reading both good and bad for both companies.
I've also heard good and bad things about both companies in terms of customer support. But honestly, it's the same for the big giant brands like Polaris and Dolphin too. Personally, I prefer the customer support of Wybot over Aiper. Aiper always takes forever to respond. Even though I love Aiper's cleaners, I do NOT like them on a personal level lol(bad past experience).
@@imdefinitelydavid You are making it hard for me to decide which cleaner to get. I like them both but leaning towards Aiper. I like that I don't have to mess with an APP for the cleaner that might or might not get the commend because it's under water. Both of them look great. Decisions, decisions.
If it helps, I always prefer non wifi dependent cleaners as well. The Scuba S1 wins hands down for the user-friendliness of it that way. And yes, wifi cleaners no matter the brand are notorious for losing connections. Sorry!
Aiper is world's top least reliable pool robot. I bought 3kinds($850, $380, $350), but they are no working after one year. Aiper robot life is one year. I want we would jointly sue this company for deceiving consumers..
Thank you! I will buy it for my pool in Bordeaux France! For my stairs especially 🔥
Thank you, David, for all the reviews so far. If you have time, could you give a review on Beatbot Aquasense Pro.
Thanks
You will love the skimmer and cordless combo. My preferred goto now has been using a skimmer and cordless cleaner combo like what you are getting
Hi David! Thank you for the transparency! I saw on Amazon that there is a new Betta surface cleaner that is solar-powered and can be charged; it’s priced very well and has a $30 off coupon. Have a wonderful weekend!
I already have one on the way and will work on the video soon!
Great news David, I’ve just been in contact with Aiper and they are going to release a Scuba S1 fine filter very shortly.
Love the review. i went to the site and seen they are adding charging panels for this that you can plug into the charging port.
I'm very excited for those solar panels! No idea when they will be released though. Maybe when the Pro version is hopefully.
Thank you for the response, David. I really appreciate it!!
Glad it helped! 👍
@@imdefinitelydavid one last question - can you say how this Scuba S1 compares to the 2024 Aiper Seagull Pro? Thanks again.
Great review. Thank you
Hi David! My mom was sold on this because of your review. We were wondering where we can find and buy the fine filter? Thank you for the reviews
Yeah in excited for the Pro version as well!
Excellent video, David.
At this price point, is the Scuba S1 the best available for sale? Or do you have advice on a better option?
@@imdefinitelydavid I Understood. Thank you for the response, David.
You can close it if you want. It won't hurt the cleaner or the pool.
Super helpful review! Do you happen to know what the difference is between this one and the Scuba N1 Pro? I see they are the same price.
Thanks, David! You’re absolutely right. I was thinking you reviewed the s1 pro.
Not yet but I will lol! I'm actually quite excited for it. Still waiting for it to be released. Should be soon.
It’s manual, but take a look at the bottom feeder if you have not seen it. My guy did my 14’x30’ in less than 10 min.
Congrats! Enjoy my friend! 👍
@@imdefinitelydavid 😉 .
Thanks for the clarification.@@imdefinitelydavid
Does this pick up sand at all?
Some yes, but if you get a lot of it, it won't do well.
Does it pick up fine dirt? I get heaps of dust where i am and mostly what i need to clean is dirt piles at the bottom of my pool
That's just how rechargeable batteries work in general so I always expect a degrading battery over time, BUT it should be only after the warranty period expires
how about the price for replacement parts
@@imdefinitelydavid Thanks again .

Bernd
Hello! It actually climbs stairs well. The very bottom step is about a foot tall and right next to it is another step about another foot and the Scuba climbs up with no issues.
David,
Seato Seal SE -or- Aiper scuba s1?
Scuba S1 mainly because I need the weekly timer! But if you don't need the timer, save some money and go for the Seal! 👍
Does it pick up sand at all?
Would you still recommend this product over other vacuums in its price point?
Sorry to hear that! Sounds like you got one of the bad apples in the crop.
When are you doing the review of the S1 Pro?
Hey Buddy, do you know what the difference between the Scuba S1 and Scuba N1 is ? They have both on their website.
Hi David - I just bought the Aiper N1. Can you tell me the difference between N1 and S1? There not a lot of info out there.
Yes makes Perfect sense. Thank you for your response and for clarifying that for me.
Any ideas how it would work on an infinity edge? Would it try to climb it and escape?
No I'm pretty sure there's a sensor in it that senses water or lack of water. If it reaches the edge and it's not submerged enough in water, it should back back down into the pool. Similar to how it acts on my very tiny step in the bottom right corner. This step is the tallest and most shallow step in my pool. When the Scuba S1 reaches it it tries to climb up it but after about and inch or so above the step(no water) it backs back down and away from it. Hope that makes sense!
Hi, just wondering how you bought this? I thought it wasn’t being released until 5 March.
I was able to pick one up off AMZ. You can check the description for the links. No idea where you got the March 5 release date.
Ok, looks like it is just us in Australia who have to wait. I’ve ordered and looking forward to it arriving!
Oh I'm sorry! I forget I'm in the US and others like yourself may be in other countries. But overall, a really great cleaner for a great price!
is this good for a Vinyl pool? if not is there one more designed for a Vinyl pool?
Yes this Scuba S1 would be good for a vinyl lined pool. It scrubs well but isn't as super aggressive like other cleaners I've used.
@@imdefinitelydavid thanks for the response. Great video! I went with the scuba N1. Looking forward to trying it out.
Perfect thank you 😃 what would you recommend in the same price range or less? We have above ground pool 24 inch. Thank you in advance Natalie.
@@imdefinitelydavid would love to know what options you'd suggest for robotic corded not requiring the pool filter for fine debris
Thank you 😃
Hello from France . If this robot arrives on the highest step, wouldn't it risk sending water everywhere? THANKS .
Hoping that it is as efficient as the 380 which is a good cleaner. .
Hi David I was wondering what you would recommend as far as the seauto seal se or the aiper scuba s1. Kinda torn between both. Thanks.
@@imdefinitelydavidit does thank you !
Hi, is this possible to use in a saltwater pool?
Thank you !
It should be fine. These new cleaners are designed to handle chlorine and salt much better than in the past 👍
@@imdefinitelydavid thank you for your fast answer !
@@imdefinitelydavid which one of those two do you prefer(like more) :wybot osprey 700 or aiper scuba s1?
thank you!
I prefer the Scuba S1 over the Osprey. It's newer than the Osprey and feels more solid overall.
@@imdefinitelydavid Thank you!
Is the ultra fine filter an option to purchase on the scuba s1?
Unfortunately they don't. I wish they did.
Thank you! The sensors won’t detect the cord and go around it?
It's too thin in the pool for the sensors to know it's a cord. It treats it as debris rather than an object to get around and would try to skim it inside causing tangles and maybe damage to the cord I think.
Oh interesting, didn’t think about it that way. Thanks for the tip!
No problem, good luck! 👍
Does anyone have any reviews using this same product on a sloped bottom pool?
Yes see my experience posted today June 16. Had difficulty with the slope from shallow to deep. Also had problems with sides that didn’t meet floor at 90 degree angle. Random movements around the pool, many wheelies. A completely different experience than the video posted by Def David.
@@KennethBarkoffagree I have a vinyl inground. It seems to get lost on slopes even on floor only . Definitely can not climb slope on wall mode. Pops a lot on wheelies. Sending back
Hi. Our pool transitions from shallow end to deep end on a slope. Which model can handle this?
If deciding between the S1 or S1 Pro for a deeper pool, both will be able to reach depths of 10 feet. But from what I've heard, the Pro model is better at reaching and cleaning the deeper end better than the normal S1 does.
What about the Aiper S1 pro?
The Aiper S1 Pro is even better!
I have posted the video for that model as well. Please feel free to check it out. In addition, I also do a comparison video on the two.
why are there so many different prices in your links listed above? Some have different color patterns, are they the same unit?
It's the same cleaner, but Aiper lists them on Amz with multiple listings. When they do this, one day a link will work and then the next it won't. So placing all their links down just saves me time checking every listing every day.
But yes, all the same cleaner with just a slight color variation in the wheel or brush, etc. Performance and inside, same cleaner.
@@imdefinitelydavid I have the S1 coming soon , thanks for the review.
I hope it works well for you!
Good review. I have an 18x36 aboveground pool with a deep end. Does anyone know if I could use this cleaner in an above ground?
You should be able to just fine. Most of the time you can use in-ground cleaners in above-ground pools efficiently, it's just normally you don't need as advance a cleaner for an above-ground
@@imdefinitelydavid Thank you for your help! I am going to try this cleaner. Thanks!
How well does it compare to a dolphin liberty?
Will this work well in a kidney shaped pool?
I haven't tested it in a kidney shaped pool. But I haven't heard any issues from others who have kidney shapes pools if that helps.
@@imdefinitelydavid I ended up ordering for my kidney pool. I’ll have to come back amd tell ya how well it works once it’s up and running
Please do! 😃
@@imdefinitelydavid so I’ve had it for about a week. It works in a kidney shaped pool. Hugs the incline well. Battery life short leaves a little more to be desired, but it is maintaining a 144k gallon kidney shaped pool
Thanks for chiming in. I had no idea it could work for a 144k gallon pool!
Less by $100 I think. I will be reviewing that S1 Pro whenever it gets released as well. I'm waiting like you lol.
Does anyone know if Aiper will create an ultra fine silt basket as an accessory for the Scuba S1?
I'm almost certain they won't. They want people to buy the higher end model with ultra-fine basket instead when it gets released. It's one of the reasons they can charge more
Having a hard time deciding which cleaner to get. It's between the Aiper Scuba S1, Smonet Cordless cleaner and the Wybot S.
Very very BAD DONT BIY IT
