The reason Cain has higher damage is he's modelled after a Thief or Rogue. Isaac is a Knight, Eve is a Mage, Samson is a Berserker, Maggie is a Cleric or Paladin. The newer characters are a bit more cloudy.

Classic NL Uses Data Miner maybe 5 times sets in stone is bad. Uses Crooked penny dozens of times and gets screwed by it, but the jury is still out for the item T_T
He had another run where he used Data Miner a bunch of times, and he doesn't even seem to like Crooked Penny that much since the nerf (which makes sense, since it sucks).
