At about 5:30 I think the turntable was a Pioneer PL 12D, rather than a PL 120. I have a ton of old equipment, it's often amazing how long it lasts before requiring repair. Also amazing how difficult it is to get old, non-tube electronics repaired properly. I have mini bookshelf speakers 40 years old, that have been used 8+ hours a day with original tweeters.
Wow you asked for HIGH quality pics, and these are a step up from previous efforts! Great systems, but I still see a lack of room treatments in many cases..... Often I see Thousands of dollars of gear surrounded by hard bare walls. What a waste of quality gear. Thanks Steve for focusing on it when it's there.

Yikes! If I came downstairs every morning to seeing those B&W Nautilus speakers, daily psychotherapy would be on my calendar. Maybe the occasional electroshock. After I tried to stop laughing. Andy Warhol would have embraced them. Definitely the Buck Rogers school of design.
Nice systems But are they optimized: a) for speaker placement relative to walls and corners and b) for microphony between components and the shelves they are on. Probably in most cases, the systems are on dirty AC as well. Just a wild assed guess. Another thing that makes me wonder all the time is why components need to be in between speakers. Yes, the lead from a power amp to a speaker better be short. But still. No, not critique. Just wondering what help these people had, to get their systems where they are today. And what drove them.

I owned a Mac Mini a few years back. It had 8-bit mono sound output and couldn’t supply HD video to the TV fast enough. It worked fine for email and light Internet browsing until the crappy HDD died.
@@alarife109 Paul is a little behind the curve with his use of that mac mini. I would not use the mac mini as a music streamer. I would (and have) go with something designed specifically for streaming audio. I am, btw, a happy PS Audio customer. I own the Sprout100.
The lack of treatment in most of these rooms really defeats the systems in them. The positioning of speakers in most is merely aesthetic. I find it interesting that the same people invest in amp stands, isolated shelves etc. then place a speaker or sub in a corner or backed against a wall and point them at a wall (or 20 other reflective sufaces) a few feet away. What I'm saying is, audiophiliacs in general seem more driven by the desire to own products than the actual sonics they achieve because their systems would sound 100 times better if they put 5 mins thought into the room instead of buying more shiny things. You could custom make a pile of tasteful rock wool, softwood framed isolation panels with a fabric of your choice to match your decor for a 10th of what some of these people spent on an RCA cable but they can hear the difference in the cable but not the room right? Thats my 2 pence from a music producer and budding audiophile and don't get me wrong, I love shiny things too.
Oh by the way - my basic rig - all second hand - set me back less than 500 bucks! I'll take some pictures when I'm done with the re-arrangement of the room
when Steve said the second system had a lot of s**t in it, I first thought "that's not very nice" but then I realised he was taking about the maker. 😀😀
Ive tried but I'll never get my system into one of these videos - Im a NYer just like the audiophiliac, and you can't make a pretty photo out of a shoebox of an apartment crammed with books, art, records and gear. Good sound but looks a hot mess. Worst of all, SIP means everyone is home and working from home, so vanishingly small time for audio!
@@Upekha001 I have never heard the Bose 161. Sorry. I had some Bose 301's back in the late Seventies, when Bose speakers were made from wood. As I understand it, not long after that, production moved to China. Then, the cabinets were made from plastic. A poor choice for speaker cabinet material. The same thing happened to the speaker brand I replaced the Bose with: Cambridge Soundworks. By the way, I had to get rid of the Bose because after about ten years, the tweeters faded and they didn't sound good at all anymore. Yeah. I knew Darko had covered it. DAarko didn't give too much detail though. How bout some pointers on where to get educated on making it do cool high end audio magic. Somethink like what Parks Audio did with his new high tech Puffin preamp. That's a device audiophiles can either love or hate but it's got programming to help make your turntable system do magical things. Maybe programmer audiophiles can give us more of this magic with RP.
@@joybrucebruce3377 Agreed. Personally, I think Raspberry Pi is a cheap computer which was created for console gaming and school settings. In my opinion, Pi has no business being in the world of audiophile. That it might be another technological avenue... yes. But nothing traditionally.
It behooves why the so called great speaker systems are nothing more than eye candy for those who like that sort of thing. Great speakers perform audibly not necessarily visually. What some people spend money on is a joke beyond belief. Bottom line is all speakers work on the same principles and are all subject to the same inherent problems of I.M. and phase distortions. No exceptions.

Wow, a pair of Nautilus... I only got to hear a pair once at a trade day at a UK trade show in the early 90’s, amazing things and crazily expensive...
A clean house is a sign of a dirty mind. OK I am just jealous you guys have very clean houses.
😁😁😁😆😆
I have seen and heard the B&W Nautilus many years ago.... wow wow wow
Im well jell
Ya ! Hey mom where are my nautilus speakers ? (Mom) i put them in the storage room !
Many fun setups to listen to.
All nice systems!
The old "Parent's Storage" ploy, eh?
Some nice system steve👍
Very nice 👍
All I have are onkyos from 1990 and prior. Cause there still affordable and you can still get parts for them. This stuff is out of my price range.
The guy found the Bw speakers in his storage room man maybe he was a good boy and Santa rewarded him
Wow you asked for HIGH quality pics, and these are a step up from previous efforts! Great systems, but I still see a lack of room treatments in many cases..... Often I see Thousands of dollars of gear surrounded by hard bare walls. What a waste of quality gear. Thanks Steve for focusing on it when it's there.
Listening on pioneer not shitt thank you for giving us all a kick to listen to the love every artist needs deserved. Listening. That Shit is stupid.
7:37 .... ispy a *PONO* ...... good man!
I wonder how many people have sent in a car system picture!
Zero no one did
@@SteveGuttenbergAudiophiliac Aww too bad, would've been nice to see how an "audiophile" car audio system looks like!
@@QoraxAudio Most high-end cars have high-end sound systems. Bentley has Naim, Mercedes AMG has Burmeister, Aston martin has Bang & Olufsen, Jaguar has Bowers & Wilkins, Lexus has Mark Levinson, Pagani has Sonus Faber, etc...
I think there are some naim systems going into cruiser style yachts too
Hey Steve I love my home stereo system but I recently got into collecting headphones for when I can't listen to my speakers. I often see all of your headphones in the background of your videos. I was curious what kind of stand you are using or if you have any other ideas for storing/showing off a lot of headphones. Thank you.
The answer you seek lies here:

8:06 i recommend removing the dobro & violin hanging on the wall. Those have got to start resonating at high speaker volumes! BTW i had a guitar EXACTLY like that one.
I'm gonna hire a storage lock up just in case anyone wants to leave me a set of B&W Nautilus speakers one day!!!
Yikes! If I came downstairs every morning to seeing those B&W Nautilus speakers, daily psychotherapy would be on my calendar. Maybe the occasional electroshock.
After I tried to stop laughing.
Andy Warhol would have embraced them. Definitely the Buck Rogers school of design.
And probably a microphone. I see what you did there!!
I would like to go to his house and "find the speakers" too :)
Nice systems
But are they optimized: a) for speaker placement relative to walls and corners and b) for microphony between components and the shelves they are on.

Haha, that first B&W system was doing so well until you got to the Mac Mini computer! Those things are noise factories!
I owned a Mac Mini a few years back. It had 8-bit mono sound output and couldn’t supply HD video to the TV fast enough. It worked fine for email and light Internet browsing until the crappy HDD died.
Paul from PS Audio explains it better
th-cam.com/video/dqxn0rD9yy4/w-d-xo.html
With all due respect.........an audiophile system with its main piece a huge TV set......for me true audiophile is just 2 channel that's all
Thats how i have mine. Tv in the middle. For me now its just tv or 2 channel hi fi listening. Its a space
Thing
Oh by the way - my basic rig - all second hand - set me back less than 500 bucks!
I'll take some pictures when I'm done with the re-arrangement of the room
$50000 b&w speakers. Seemingly no room treatment. TV from 2008. Oh, audiophiles...Please stop.
En Joshi-Godrez weren’t they $50k each when new?
Those speakers Are Insaane... Now a days they comes in midnight blue, black and silver @ $60k
not to mention no decent source components, CD player, turntable, reel to reel.
Hi Steve
Pioneer PL 12 D turntable (not 120). I just got a new belt for mine; haven't put it on yet.
The Nautilus speakers are around £55,000! In bloody storage?! Jammy bugger!
when Steve said the second system had a lot of s**t in it, I first thought "that's not very nice" but then I realised he was taking about the maker. 😀😀
one day one day i'll have my 4 tube amps bi-amped to who knows what?
What are the spec's on that Poodle?
Ive tried but I'll never get my system into one of these videos - Im a NYer just like the audiophiliac, and you can't make a pretty photo out of a shoebox of an apartment crammed with books, art, records and gear. Good sound but looks a hot mess. Worst of all, SIP means everyone is home and working from home, so vanishingly small time for audio!
Does anyone now the tube amp at about 10:00 on the bottom of that picture?
I want to submit a photo of my system, but my listening room always looks like a bomb hit it.
Hi Steve,
Have you made any video on the speakers in the range of $ 200 or less ?

@@HareDeLune Thank you for the help !
What do you think about Bose 161 speaker ?
@@Upekha001
I have never heard the Bose 161.
If you want my recommendation for an affordable, yet fantastic sounding speaker, I highly recommend the Gallo Acoustics Micro SE.
Here is Steve's review of them from Cnet:
www.cnet.com/news/gallo-micro-se-how-can-a-speaker-this-small-sound-this-good/
Here is the website: www.roundsound.com
They are best used with at least one subwoofer, however.
Unless all you listen to is chamber music with violins. : )
Good luck! : D
@@HareDeLune Thanks D !
For " Gallo" ( $239) , i will need a subwoofer as per Steve's article. which will make the buying out of my reach. Upon recommendation of Steve, I am looking for Fluance Ai 40 ( $ 200 ). But it is not available online. All the website says " unavailable". I have checked fluance website there too its not available. Any idea where could i buy that ?

Why don't you give us more than a glimpse of Rasberry Pie?

Here is a good review from Darko: th-cam.com/video/3BUjj2mZ4o0/w-d-xo.html
He "found" $70K speakers... nice.
Keep three headphones and donate the rest. Got to de clutter my friend.
Not falling for this again he never puts mine in 😔
Larry Niles what
Where it's at!
Get rid of the wife ASAP, keep those Altec Monitors and resto-mod them..
All the equipment on the floor makes me nervous.
The 2nd guys system is alot of Schitt.
