    You know you're old when the stereo equipment you bought new is now considered vintage 😅

    It’s so crazy seeing like $30k in gear and zero room treatment lol, room after room. Like $1k in treatment can do wonders!

    • @vtkz
      @vtkz 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      yea but nearly all people dont understand it. Its easiyer to buy an Amp or Speaker than invest time into REW, Measurments and spending hundreds / thousands in the correct room treatment wich bring even the cheapest system on the enxt level. When you dont control the energy you put into the room, you get a mess - and people call that still ,,high end,,

      My system was featured in this video and I have some room treatment. Bass trap in the corner behind the left speak that’s hard to see in the pictures. I also have a DIY acoustic panel on the wall to the left of the system that is covered with a tapestry I bought in Sweden (the wife approved). Probably the biggest thing my room has going for it is real cork flooring.

      evidently I can hear the squeaking of a decorative garden windmill fan next door that others much younger can't. Eye's closed, away from the window I can tell you relative speed by the squeak. Other's don't hear it at all. And now after 72 years of hearing all kinds of crap, I find out there are a number of things I thought everyone heard, but don't! Interestingly my 3 sons hear it. And 3 of us are audiophiles with good turntables.

    The Scientific Audiophile hit the nail on the head when he noted the majority of rooms shown are the weakest part of the systems. All modern knowledge is of the opinion that the room accounts for at least 30% of the sound of the system...Start with the room first and then you can actually hear what your components are giving you in terms of sound quality.

    I see a number of people using the klipschs Cornwall which are actually horn tweeters . Somehow I feel that for vinyl and specially analog dome is the best way to go. I have a huge theater setup and a different hifi setup where I use everything strictly from the vintage era. But even my theater setup has everything in dome. Planning to buy magnat transpuls 15 inch dome tweeters towers. The reasons are dome, german made and for vinyl record I always love the bigger sound. What do you think. I find it quite astonishing, that people will spend tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of $$$ on hifi gear, yet have zero room treatment or have boxy little rooms with huge speakers cramped into the corners, or tons of clutter/furniture in front of speakers. Really begs the question as to how much of this "hobby" is to do with the obsession of gear (and showing it off!) versus actual audio quality output.
